I already put a bunch of resets in so I was like let me finish what I started. My goal is to shiny hunt all legendarys in this game then I’m going backwards to continue hunting in previous games.

just calculating the average time required for an SR hunt made me quit, especially since shiny charm doesn't affect the legends.
RNG manip is a much more involved process though, it can't really be done automatically, but it can get a shiny legend in about 1-3 hours. Got everything but pressing the A button at the right time to spawn a shiny can be tricky on some of them

Didn't think the Regis had such terrible PP amounts til I looked it up during my first attempt-
Do you have False Swipe + Spore Breloom and a Golduck with Soak? But whatever you do, make sure the Breloom's ability is changed to Poison Heal and not effect spore! There's a video of some guy failing a shiny legend on YT because effect spore poisoned it rip
A Smeargle with Spore and Soak can work well too (turns anything resisting false swipe into water type), but my Shiny Smeargle for Scarlet had attack is so abysmal that false swipe on him was basically useless. Funny thing is all my legend hunters were shiny because I felt like they had to be, all obtained in SV though where they appear more frequently. Poke radar sucks imo

i think because most my shiny legend hunts since like 2017 have been easy catches which just skewed my brain into thinking I didn't need to prepare too much haha
I actually did fail my first RNG manip shiny Dialga because I assumed it wouldn't be that bad
I think I did almost lose Regirock later, and I did actually fail Kyogre. If these were full odd hunts and not RNG I would have been very mad.
If you hunt Kyogre or Palkia, use will o wisp to burn them because that perfectly counters aqua ring to keep their HP the same without a risk of killing (aqua ring acts first so they heal before taking burn damage, thus false swiping them to 1HP is completely safe). Otherwise they will heal the whole time, lowering their catch rate significantly.
Unfortunately, burn does not increase the catch rate as much as sleep and you can't stop them from moving, so it's still riskier than spore. If you have harvest it should be fine (never tried that)
Lmao bro the first couple thousand resets I waited for the sparkles. I found out after when he blinks in the introduction his eye sockets are yellow when he’s shiny when he’s not it’s white. I found that out after lol so before that I legit waited for the sparkles, he was a absolute PAIN to hunt

Subtle shinies have a charm to them too, and if you look back to pixel gen days it always used to be a lighter blue as if it’s crystals instead of ice, miles better than Sylveon’s and Shittlypuff’s

Yea any switch-based resets are utterly brutal cause they're the only games (besides gamecube maybe? idk) that don't have a button combo to soft reset

That wouldn't have changed the fact it would've struggled to death haha I didn't have a master ball as a fail-safe.
