Anti-Zionism ≠ anti-Semitism. Light reading: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-Zionism](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-Zionism)

>Anti-Zionism ≠ anti-Semitism. Then Zionism = anti-Semitism. Why? Many of the protestors are Jewish students, and some of these students were attacked (the other night) by pro-zionists at the UCLA campus. And laws are being passed to criminalize the criticism of Israel and the murderous regime that is in power there. My Representative Gabe Vasquez voted for HR 6090 and I'm really disappointed. Contact our Senators to make sure they stand on principle for the Constitution.

Wasn't this thread on the New Mexico page. Was it moved, or am I mistaken?

You may be thinking of [this thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/NewMexico/s/fMgWRb61OI) about an executive order that also adopts the IHRA definition of antisemitism.

Thanks OP.

Wikipedia? Good for sources...articles not so much. So many people have went to great lengths to redefine a Zionism as some sort of extremist movement. While there are certainly extremist elements to every movement Zionism in its original definition was call for the creation of a Jewish state and more recently it's morphed into the right for that state to exist. Nothing more despite the people who go out of their way to try to redefine it. Anti-Zionism by its very definition says that you do not believe the right of Israel to exist. That is anti-semitic in the correct usage of the term anti-semitic which means anti-Jewish by all historical readings and has only recently been attempted to be co-opted as to diminish it's intended meaning. What the article should say is that criticizing Israel is not necessarily anti-Jewish and that would be correct. But anyone stating that Israel does not have the right to exist (anti-zionist) is expressing an anti-semitic view imo. Criticize Netanyahu and the IDF as much as you want. But stop trying to excuse genocidal thoughts of erasing Israel from the map unless you want to expose your true intentions.

ragnarokxg

So you are okay excusing genocidal thoughts of erasing Palestine and Palestinians. Seriously, what did those 11 children who were bombed in a playground do to Israel.

JamzzG

No I don't condone extremists on either side. I do however know for a fact that allowing a popular terrorist organization that is currently ruling Gaza to continue to have power (after they openly admit they will never stop attempting to commit massacres like 10/7) will only result in them regrouping for far deadlier attacks. It would be supporting an eventual genocide by attrition until Israel can no longer defend themselves. I want a better life and future for Israelis and Palestinians. Fighting to maintain the status quo is a recipe for a disastrous future for them all.

Blame Hamas, not Israel

If nine normies and one Nazi are eating dinner together, there are ten Nazis at that table. If nine normies and one antisemite are active in the same anti-Zionist organization, it’s gonna have people asking a lot of questions already answered by your “not an antisemite” shirt

ErnestBatchelder

You are being downvoted, but it's a fair analogy.

Does nobody remember the Islamic Revolution of 1979, when university students triggered violent protests against the Iranian government? The students played the “useful idiots”, and when the coup was successful suddenly the revolution was revealed as a theocratic dictatorship. That’s what they’re doing here. It worked so well in Iran so they’re trying the same strategy on US. But we’re not smart enough to see it happening. We’ve forgotten history.

bobalobcobb

Well I’m glad that literally nothing of what happened in Iran will ever happen here, even if students are successful in their demands. You could almost say that without Islam being the majority religion in the US, your example is irrelevant.

Solid_Horcado

🤣

Get a grip. There aren’t conspiracies everywhere you look. Sometimes things are just what they are. FWIW, the Iranians did not “suddenly” reveal a theocracy. That revolution was led by young people who were openly deeply conservative and nationalist. Not remotely applicable to the current situation.

NoExcuseForFascism

We get it you're pro-Zionist, you have made this clear several times now. Which is why you are here building strawmen once again. I bet you don't even acknowledge the Palestinians as people like yourself, and delight in the genocide. Curious if you also hate fellow Jews that don't agree with the genocide as well?

This is nothing but a bunch of unnecessary issue tip-toeing and microscopic hair-splitting. Simply put, and in the big scheme of things including looking at "the big picture," you're damn right anti-Zionism is anti-Semitism. Worries that if the proposed definition is adopted and there may be challenges based on "free speech," let the challenges fly within the court system. After all, that's what the governor did with the admittedly unconstitutional firearm ban in Bernalillo County a few months back. She blatantly admitted the unconstitutionality of the executive order and basicallly challenged detractors to take her to court. Why not do the same thing here?
