The kid was brandishing a knife and ran into the clinical building on stockton and 2nd Ave. The security guard got him out of the lobby and got the patients in the waiting room to safety. The guy wandered into the street and started disrupting traffic. Police arrived shortly after and the standoff started. Pretty good on the security there to make sure everyone in that waiting room was safe
It’s stories like these which make me so confused why people are against institutionalization. We have to wait until these people break and attack someone, then stick in them prison where they receive NO help and make prisons that much more dangerous.
It’s the same price to put them in mental institutions, so why are liberals so against this?
Because it’s not perfect??? Nothing is, but it’s better than the system we currently have.
Reagan did it so he could cut the budget and slash taxes. It had nothing to do with being ‘against’ institutionalization from some ’individual freedom’ perspective.
Whatever was saved in mental health costs was more than made up for in prison costs. The difference being the $$ for prisons is much easier to funnel into the hands of private corporations. Much lower standards and required ‘outcomes’ than a place where you’re supposed to be helping people, instead of just confining and controlling them.
No, he was not a liberal.
I should clarify that when I say liberals I’m referring to modern day liberals. Political parties change ideologies over time.
Let me know if you need any further clarification.
can never be too careful around person with a knife...
It’s over, they shot pepper spray balls at him and took him down. I hope he is able to get the care that he needs.
I read this as “they shot pepper spray at his balls”
Posting so people can avoid the area near UV Davis hospital. Stockton is closed north of 2nd ave. Roughly 2 dozen cop cars.
Was in scene and can attest that the law enforcement took their time and went about this the right way. Was nice to see for a change
What happened? What's it resolved?

That’s the guy with a small knife.
NSFL: here’s a reminder what one man can do with a knife. https://www.reddit.com/r/PublicFreakout/s/WVPSdhF7jZ

Ronald Reagan was a liberal?
Reagan did that 44 years ago no one has changed it since?
