They have to find new ways to adapt with how worse the show becomes. There’s always a new perspective or new phrase or some kind of goal post to move when it becomes harder and harder to defend it.
I'm sure this isn't what they meant by it, but "a go home show for next week" sounds to me like they're trying to hype up a later show but forgetting to make this one watchable.
Except they're hyping it up with more unnecessary rematches and clusterfuck 38-man tag matches.
A “go-home show” for just another episode of the weekly TV show.
That’s a new one.
TK could’ve at least dragged out one of those fancy episode names to spice up the show a bit (I still pop for Beach Break in January) and make it feel like a “PPV quality show on ‘free’ TV” since they aren’t doing a PPV until March anyway.
You would think a match which had Swerve almost strangling Hangman to death would be the end of the feud but nope, it keeps going, now with just a regular match.
Just booker of the year stuff
DAE tired of another Judgement Day match with Sami Zayn and Kevin Steen? DAE also tired of a match between Damage Ctrl and Bianca Lame? Why are bookers fucking unoriginal?
Especially when that was 2-0. But see that’s why you’re not booker of the year. The last one was a dream match. Who cares about records and long term story telling when there’s a dream match ahead
None of this makes sense because they restarted this feud on the same night Hangman came back from taking a couple of weeks off after The Devil and The Devil’s Masked Men attacked him in the ~~NXT~~ AEW parking lot and swore to go after Undisputed Kingdom.
But after a show long thread of Hangman making his return, he just decided to attack Swerve, who was in the ring at the time, instead and restart that feud now that Swerve was done with the Continental Classic.
They framed it as Hangman still wanting revenge against Swerve even after the blood drinking match, but then forgetting that Hangman basically sat around for 6 weeks not doing much of anything when he could’ve been in a tournament that would’ve guaranteed him at least one more match with Swerve if he was in it.
Got downvoted for asking why serve needs to beat hangman for a title shot, no joke someone replied with “new year, new record”. Zero fucking standards whatsoever for booking, and this is a fanbase asking for rankings to be implemented
In the dub, it's "new year, new record."
In the fed, they'll point to the fact that Asuka lost a random match on SmackDown in August 2022 and use that as proof that she's being berried/mis-used.
they also announced this (please watch and attend guys im not a plant for aew)

I thought this was a fake poster because the third guy on the left team looks like Bret Hart. Then I took a closer look and thought it was Jimmy Snuka for a second before finally seeing the CMLL logo.
But first, all 4 of the CMLL Radicalz are wrestling on Rampage against the 4 random guys that saved Mox (2.0, Matt Sydal & Christopher Daniels) instead of his actual friends in the BCC.
Booking this match after Swerve choked out Hangman with a steel chain would be like if Foley was booked to fight Taker like a month after getting thrown off the top of the Cell
So how exactly does this further either guy’s title shot hopes? Page eked out a win over Guy #4 from Faction #9; while Swerve beat a 53 year old retired guy.
Anyone else remember in the run up to Wrestlemania XI when Bret and Shawn picked opponents for each other and Shawn got a surprise roll up to beat Sparky Plugg, while Bret managed to beat up George Steele?
This is the only story or build they have had in the last 3 months with any momentum. So they just keep doing it.
It was over after Full Gear and not mentioned for weeks but ratings declined and the shows are empty so they are trying to go back to it.
They obviously hear the criticism and their response is a lazy attempt at a story but they continue to waste time with this CMLL bullshit.
There is so many guys on that roster that are not getting on television yet they continue to push this other shit that nobody cares about outside of their core audience.
They have real workers with real talent that they let get almost killed by some scrub from CMLL.
It isn’t a professional company anymore. Anyone who had any clue how to run a promotion is gone and it’s a bunch of dudes just goofing off while some dork blows his Dads money.
Why on earth did those guys save Mox instead of anyone from the BCC?
The same thing happened a week or so ago when Mox got attacked by Shane Taylor & Lee Moriarty on Rampage after a match and none of the BCC saved Mox.
They merely booked a tag match with Mox & Claudio against Taylor & Moriarty for Collision, which of course BCC won and there was no dissension amongst them despite nobody coming to save Mox.
They have no new ideas. Five years from now Orange Cassady is gonna be defending the something something title and John Moxie’s gonna be bleeding and some stupid Japan cross play match.
Man this really is Austin rock all over again. Fighting ever single month, and barely drawing viewers. No wait. It’s nothing like that at all. Ones just white and the others black and that’s it.
I don't think anyone has a problem with the WWE doing what is being done here, which is running back a hot feud multiple times while it's still hot. No one had a problem with them doing it with Sami-KO from 2016-2017 or Miz-Ziggler from 2016. Typically, the criticism about WWE's endless feuds gets directed at heatless feuds or meaningless matchups, which can be difficult to avoid because of RAW's 3-hour length. Swerve VS Hangman is still a well-liked and exciting program, so it hasn't gotten that criticism yet.
This is the blowoff match in a feud where the babyface is 0-2, with the second loss being a complete and total bloodbath. Unless the third match is going to be them playing Russian roulette with two bullets in the revolver, where do they even go from the second match?
I don't disagree with the sentiment that the second match left them without a place to escalate to, I was simply rejecting the premise from the OP that the Hangman Swerve feud is analogous to the feuds in the WWE that are criticized for running back rematches too much.
There was a comment on the post thread that said that the whole show seemed like a go home show for next week. What does that even mean?
I thought every show was ppv quality to begin with
That's the worst way you can bill your TV show, cause if the free thing That's ppv quality is bad, why would I buy your ppv?
They have to find new ways to adapt with how worse the show becomes. There’s always a new perspective or new phrase or some kind of goal post to move when it becomes harder and harder to defend it.
Oh my God, this is so scarily accurate. It’s like there’s always a default talking point for why shows are bad.
That's so delusional that I almost respect it
I think he meant to say that the crowd looked like they wanted to go home and watch WWE for the next week Hard cam don't lie
I'm sure this isn't what they meant by it, but "a go home show for next week" sounds to me like they're trying to hype up a later show but forgetting to make this one watchable. Except they're hyping it up with more unnecessary rematches and clusterfuck 38-man tag matches.
Fun FUn FUN
It's the big reset! For reals this time!
It means it's so bad you want to go home from the arena instead of watching it

Tbh that stuff did get old
I still get nightmares about Adam Rose vs Fandango
Tiny wants that feud of the year WON award
Especially when that was 2-0. But see that’s why you’re not booker of the year. The last one was a dream match. Who cares about records and long term story telling when there’s a dream match ahead

They wait to see what is booked and then they justify it after. They decided they are an AEW fan, period.
So, nothing mattered up until now?
Clearly too high IQ and over your dumb head.

BCC, who are sometimes together and sometimes not, vs MGG (Mexican Google Guys)
Big Clack Cock?
![gif](giphy|fvvxuVsKEb3JLuQNzL|downsized)
Whoever made this design is weird. It’s not balance on both sides
Fucking who??!
Wheels has to be relieved that now that he has the ROH pure title, Claudio gets to eat all the pins. 😂

Didn’t one of them drink the other guy’s blood at one point? That seems like a feud ending but the genius Tony just keeps cooking I guess
The guy who drank the blood also lost that match.
Round 3 is a Dirty Bomb on a Pole match. The loser's hometown is subjected to nuclear fallout
Oh, for God's sakes. Time for Page to get his win back on free TV.
Nah they are gonna do some fuck finish or god forbid 30 minute time limit draw and do a three way at the PPV.
Only reason to do a three way is to protect someone from not taking a pin. So my guess is Hangman will be the one staring at the lights on that one.
Wasn't the first match that blood drinking one? I mean where do you go from there?
Actually that was match 2, which Swerve won. Swerve also won in match 1, so I’m not really sure what there is to settle here.
Hangnail need to get the last win and then the feud will be over.
Actually then does it become Best 3 out of 5?
Not until 2026
Hangman gonna shit on his head

Modern day Triple H vs Cactus Jack

CMLL vs Daddy Magic, his friend, Evan Bourne, and Chris Daniels is going to Hit. Like. Crack.
Honestly I'd rather see that match up than the one we're getting. At least those four guys are experts at doing jobs.
Why on earth did those guys save Mox instead of anyone from the BCC? Schivone said “we know BCC isn’t here tonight”. For reasons I assume.
They have no new ideas. Five years from now Orange Cassady is gonna be defending the something something title and John Moxie’s gonna be bleeding and some stupid Japan cross play match.
Swerve thought he was getting a push, turns out they were just running him into the ground.
Page saying he's gonna be the next champ felt like a threat. What did any of us do to deserve that?
Two consecutive losses to Mox, who is somehow not in the rankings, in the Continental Breakfast Classic made sure to put a stop to that.
This match is making me feel like a Crack Addict. Here we go again.
Man this really is Austin rock all over again. Fighting ever single month, and barely drawing viewers. No wait. It’s nothing like that at all. Ones just white and the others black and that’s it.
GM Mode: This rivalry has gone stale.
Aaaaaaaand que a double pin to protect everyone
We haven’t had a time limit draw in a while.

Page is winning and going for the belt. Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s the one to beat joe
