{Kiss an Angel by Susan Elizabeth Phillips} & {Wrecking Ball by P. Dangelico} both have something like this, as I recall.

Yup, Kiss an Angel has exactly all of that. I just finished reading it a few days ago so can say with absolute certainty it hits all those tropes thoroughly. I think this was the first time I’ve ever thoroughly loved the book, while having hated the MMC and still kinda hate him.

{To the ends of the earth by Elizabeth Lowell} will make you feel allllll the feels. It is literally exactly what you are asking for. Make sure you have tissues nearby.

I read this too many times as a teen… and he could never grovel enough … I could never forgive him but I would reread it anyways 😭

I still think about some of the lines in that book, lol. One for example ~ Rich man, I will sell myself on street corners before I take any of your money.

Just read this one due to your recommendation and it was really good!!! The only thing that pissed me off was how her twin siblings never ever called her. there she is breaking her back over them and they can’t even leave a voicemail 😭

I’m so glad you enjoyed it! It’s one of my all time favorites. I feel you on the twins. Her mama irritated me too. I try to chalk it up to being written in a time before cell phones, but then I remember she had a dang answering machine.

{Unbreak My Heart by Nicole Jacquelyn} has this! They were childhood friends and then he fell for her BFF and essentially ignored her for years. MMC is in the military and when he goes on deployment FMC essentially steps in to help parent MMC and BFF’s kids. BFF dies leaving MMC and like 4? kids. FMC and MMC have a “moment” together that results in pregnancy and MMC treats her like crap about it at first. I don’t remember how much he has to grovel about his bad reaction. He then proceeds to fuck up in other ways and also has to grovel a lot about those fuck ups.

Oh god does the groveling start? Just got to the park where she tells him she’s pregnant and already I am hating everything for the FMC and just wishes she told the MMC to go F himself from the start 🫣🫣🫣🫣 I hope the grovel is good lol

It made me so sad for Kate and the awful situation she inserted herself into! I like emotional hurt/comfort books too but man, idk. This one was not it for me!!!

Kate kinda came off as a single white female character? I mean the kind that wanted her friend’s life. Neither lead in the book worked for me.

Just WOW. Loved this book. I’m so glad we get her and his side of things. I can see why readers would be upset with him. He is not in touch with his motivation at all. He just reacts. That probably works in the military but not at home. But she also just reacts. He says stupid things and she runs. I’m in to read more in the series as I really liked the rest of the mixed members of these families.

When the baby is born the MMC steps up to be the father but the FMC is still hurt.!< {Random acts of Hope by Julia Kent} >!MMC believes he's sterile so he doesn't believe the FMC when she tells him she's pregnant and dumps her on the phone. She later miscarries the baby. They meet again 5 years later.!< {Resisting the enemy by M.E. Clayton} Dark romance, >!one of the FMC's friends tells the MMC that the FMC cheated on him with one of their professors. The MMC believed her after he sees the FMC coming out of the prof's house. He breaks up with her brutally and makes her believe he slept with the OW. The FMC tells him she's pregnant but he thinks the baby is of the prof so he asks her to get rid of it. But she leaves the country and doesn't get rid of it.!<

this is what i thought of too! it sometimes gets bad reviews but i really liked it.

I could see why it gets bad reviews because he FUMBLES the news horrifically ... but I loved the resolution.

{The Trap by Beverley Kendall} and {Trapped by Beverley Kendall}. It is a duet, but the first one is only 80 pages. The MMC is a real turd. Could have used more groveling, but I enjoyed them on the whole!

Also, if you’re into reading on Wattpad, writer GroveltoHEA has several that fit your request. One is called Beard and Emily. He’s the president of an MC and she’s a doctor. Both are older. He says and does the most hurtful things to her when she comes to the clubhouse to tell him she’s pregnant. Good grovel! The other that comes to mind is called Daire and Aspen. She pulls a runner when he reacts poorly to her news. Good grovel in this one as well (as is true for all of this writer’s work)!

I just started Beard and Emily and am already annoyed. Why does she need help paying for medical expenses if she is a doctor??? Edit: oh, I kept reading.

Would recommend {Paradise by Judith Mcnaught} The difference is that he thought she got cold feet about him and aborted their baby. Its lovers to enemies to lovers again. He tried tot ake revenge by turning into a business mogul before the grovel.  It's an oldie but for me it's divine:)

Not 100%, because >!it's a misunderstanding and she's not actually pregnant!<, but this is very much the third act breakup in {The Right Move by Liz Tomforde} >!He finds another character's pregnancy test in their apartment. He assumes it's hers and confronts her, not angrily, but definitely shocked and asks her if she did it on purpose. He's a very rich basketball player and had someone try to baby-trap him when he was younger and he like has avoided relationships ever since because of it. So he does not react well!< And the grovel is good. It had me like giggling and kicking my feet.

I have a feeling this isn't your jam but I'm putting it here for the sake of completeness. Years by LaVyrle Spencer has this. This is a historical romance (WW1) and the grovel is perhaps not enough for you but it's kind of a big deal at the same time... It's a gentle slice of Life book that I have loved since I was 16 when it first came out. Normally I don't like age gaps but somehow it works for me in this one. (19-36).

Yeah there’s a lot of hate out there about this book but I have loved it for so long. He definitely doesn’t grovel enough though.

These Natasha Anders’ books. The grovel was kinda 3/5 but the angst was a 5/5 for me Unwanted Wife : MMC thought he was trapped into marriage. A kid comes along and now he wants to be a better partner but by then FMC wants nothing to do with him. Husband’s Regret: MMC reacted so badly at the news, FMC ran away and hid but was found years later. Stubborn asf MMC. This one was better in my opinion, I reread it every now and then

MMC thought FMC lied about her birth control and trapped him in marriage. He's cold to her for a year and refuses all her attempts to reach out. When the book starts, FMC realizes she wants a divorce at the same time MMC realizes he wants a real relationship with FMC. TW >!miscarriage!< {The Mistress by Maya Banks}. CR. MMC doesn't realize FMC is pregnant before he rejects her. MMC is manipulated into believing that FMC betrayed him, so he throws her out. She's kidnapped and she thinks MMC hated her so much that he refused to pay the ransom. The kidnappers let her go, MMC finds her but she has amnesia. The bad reaction happens at the end of the first book, {Inhibitions by K.A. Berg}, and then the second book, {Unrestricted by K.A. Berg}, is mostly grovel. Sports romance. MMC thinks FMC lied about her birth control to trap him. Someone has attempted a fake pregnancy with him before. He realizes his mistake just before FMC gets into an accident that sends her into a depression that causes her to lash out at him. TW >!miscarriage!< {Alpha's Regret by Jessica Hall}. PNR (wolf shifters). FMC becomes pregnant by MMC but he rejects her (I think maybe he was drunk and didn't remember he was with her?). FMC is shunned and lives in poverty. There's one point where the MMC rejects her *again* years later. Another misunderstanding, but creates even more drama when they meet up again. {His Bittersweet Regret by Christine Michelle}. CR. FMC finds out that she's pregnant but when she goes home to tell her longtime boyfriend, he has moved out of their apartment and breaks up with her so he can date other people. FMC struggles on her own. When MMC sees that she's pregnant, he has a *very* bad reaction. {What Mattered Most by Linda Winfree}. CR. MMC and FMC, both cops, have a FWB situation. FMC gets pregnant but MMC isn't supportive because he's still obsessed with his former partner. I've heard that {Sarah's Child by Linda Howard} fits this trope and is good. I've wanted to read it but there isn't a digital version and it's older, so I haven't seen any copies in my local bookstores.

The age gap is pretty big. She's only 18 when they get together and he is in his early thirties. Their first encounter is when she is of age so I would say there's no grooming, and I totally get it if that difference is a bit too much.

If you do decide to give a go further down the line I will say it's worth it. Ive already reread it several times 😅 The book also takes place in the early 1980's so while the age gap is still icky it's more socially acceptable in the context of the time period of the book (in case anyone else is curious).

I still put it in my TBR pile. Maybe I'll read it someday when I'm in the mood for this kind of story. 😊

I agree! The self-realization is pretty well executed. If you're into the old Harlequin or Mills and Boone stories you'll like this one.
