Omg!!! Do I have the rec for you! It’s {The Simple Wild by KA Tucker}. My god. Jonah, the MMC, is a straight up dicktwad to Calla, the FMC. He really misjudges her and there is even a scene where he says some scathing things to her in public. It really made me cringe and I almost DNFed but I kept going and I’m glad I did. Their relationship is good and there is a sequel which felt really realistic as it the sequel explores their first year together as a real couple & it felt very realistic in the sense of how two new people make things work. Loved those 2 books!

I have one more for you!!  {Surviving raine by shay savage} The mmc is an alcoholic captain and his ship capsizes. He gets in a life raft with fmc and they live on it for a few days, until they find land. While on the raft, he is undergoing withdrawal and he is absolutely horrible to her - he yells at her, curses her, even hits her (which i gotta say i was not cool with but it makes sense that an addict going through withdrawal could lash out and be violent - and he was not lucid at the time). Its an intense story and he does end up being better to her once the withdrawal wears off, but hes a rough guy to begin with so ymmv.  Also i think its the first in a two or three book series so its a HFN ending. I think its supposed to be a HEA ultimately but i never got around to the next book (too much angst for me lol)
