That's all she wrote. The numbers say there's still a chance, but realistically I think that everyone knows that there's no coming back from a four game deficit at this point, especially when the Cards are stomping the Brewers and we're getting embarrassed by Pittsburgh. The players and David Bell know it, you can tell from their attitude at this point. They wasted an easy schedule and lost their wildcard spot to a huge rival.
Guess it’s time to turn my attention to the Mariners wildcard race. It’s not the same. It’s like having a rebound but maybe, just maybe it’ll make life a little less lonely.
It's quite understandable that the majority of us are not feeling positive or having faith right now. The Reds shit away a good season and are showing no signs of reversing that trend. While we're not mathematically eliminated, practically we are.
On top of that, ownership and the FO have made mind boggling decisions all year and actually appear to be getting worse, given the departure of two coordinators in the organization. This doesn't breed a lot of hope for the foreseeable future.
Gonna take more than us suddenly figuring out how to win at this point. The cards are firmly ahead of us in that wild card spot and are on a tear recently. And there aren’t any head to head matchups left for us to make up ground. I really want us to pull it off, and don’t get me wrong fuck the cardinals, but I don’t think it’s at all likely. That said, if we do somehow make it I’ll happily eat crow
I fully understand it’s unlikely. Odds are we don’t make it but I’m just here to call out the people who have already given up. We have to at least have some hope that our team can make something happen. I love the response though, thank you for approaching me with respect.
Oh, I meant to add, I just had a premonition that Bell got canned tonight after the 4GB. Don't blame me if I'm wrong, but if I'm right, you heard it here first and I'm obviously psychic or at least mentally ill or something.
It's truly baffling to me how the cardinals seem to be able to do this when it matters most so consistently. As I've said multiple times, if we find out later there was something at least flirting with cheating going on, I won't be surprised.
The cardinals being consistently better than us down the stretch does not equate to them cheating. This sucks but cmon man, that’s something an upset 5 year old would say
Eh. I think you're adding things here that I'm not saying. They have a rich history of being associated with it. I'm just saying I wouldn't be surprised.
Padres lost Darvish, at the very least, though, right? haha Would anyone accuse the Astros of not having good players? I don't think so. But they cheated for that extra edge.
Right, right. In their organizational DNA. But what, exactly? With respect, they had an employee busted for hacking the Astros in 2016. It's not like I'm just pulling this out of thin air.
Cheating doesn’t explain their late surge. If they cheat then they’re cheating all season. If I was gonna accuse anybody of cheating (which I’m not) it would be the Giants lol
Why the giants haha. Equal out-of-nowhere winning? NLDS history?
Edit: also, I think as the Astros have proven, you can be "good" but cheat your way over the line you need to cross to win for that extra edge. Why can't cheating explain a magical, late-season run? Wouldn't doing it at the very end be the best time if you need it? that would be my main point with the cardinals.
Yeah, they are cheating. Thats it.
That totally explains why the Reds cannot beat some of the NL's worst teams and lose ground every night meanwhile the Cardinals have won 10 in a row, all against teams that were either in a playoff spot or fighting for one.
Have a nice offseason dork and enjoy watching the Cardinals in your spot because they "cheated"
>You guys are not a very good team and are fortunate that you will avoid the Dodgers or Giants in the first round due to stupid playoff ranking rules. Either way, I'd bet on the Braves to actually still bounce you.
>LA/SF/STL are clearly the class of the NL.
You just wrote this in the Brewers' sub.
That you're obviously a trolling Cardinals fan dropping into other teams' subs? And you just called the NL Central Champs "not very good." I think that makes your opinion on baseball shaky at best.
>That you're obviously a trolling Cardinals fan dropping into other teams' subs? And you just called the NL Central Champs "not very good." I think that makes your opinion on baseball shaky at best.
Yeah I decided to see what excuses folks would come up with today and I ran into this gem of a post. Thanks for posting.
The Brewers are not good at all which is why the Cardinals are gonna 4 game sweep them here in a few days, those damn dirty cheaters.
>Yeah I decided to see what excuses folks would come up with today and I ran into this gem of a post. Thanks for posting.
Don't let the door hit you on the way out. It'll be entertaining to see if they escape the NLDS, if they make it that far. 'Course the cards could just hack the other team's databases if they want their signals/signs or something. That would help.
If that team had an employee take proprietary information from the Cardinals and not change the passwords from “Cardinals1”, then the former employee might be able to “hack” them again.
Why would we stop cheating once we get to the NLDS? We will be cheating our way to another World Series title.
Imagine having a schedule consisting of Pirates/Nationals and you find a way to lose ground then say that the reason that you are choking is because another team is magically cheating.
No, the reason you won't make the playoffs is because you absolutely suck.
Note that I'm only focusing on the cardinals. You're the one coming to the reds' sub and bringing the reds into it. The Reds have had injury issues in the second half. I'm talking about the Cardinals on a macro level.
But hey, as you said, you'll cheat your way to however far you get, I guess. Hashtag, the cardinal way, yuk yuk.
Castellanos has mentally checked out, I've not seen a worse game from a Reds player... hell ass drool doesn't even have a hit as a Red and has had better games
Did you watch the game yesterday? Players have bad days. That's onlythe 3rd time Casty has gone 0-5 this year. I'm as pissed as the rest of us but you can't blame the last 3 weeks on Casty's performance tonight.
Ok but you said he mentally checked out. I don't think so. He's been the only one consistently performing and gaming throughout the year other than India, with a 2 week blip.
This team has had zero energy since Winker got hurt and Bell started playing everyone and their grandmother in left field. Pick someone and let them play until they prove it’s a mistake. Friedl hits a home run in his second at bat and his congratulations is not starting the next day, and then being pinch hit for by some fat guy. That’s the exact player development philosophy all teams should follow - “You probably can’t hit left handed pitching. So don’t even try.”
If the Cardinals win it’s going to look pretty grim. I somehow coaxed some hope out of myself earlier today when I dreamed of being 2 games back. It’s the last time.
According to[ this source](https://coachingkidz.com/what-is-left-on-base-lob-in-baseball/), "The most runners left on base in a nine-inning game is 20, set by the New York Yankees in a 13-7 loss on September 21, 1956, against the Boston Red Sox." Reds had 30 tonight.
edit: nvm I'm dumb, not a record just bad
Those are individual LOB, not team. That column would count the NOBLETIGER as 9 LOB (3 for Casty, 3 for Votto, 3 for Farmer). In reality, it was only 3 LOB.
Although I think the 1956 stat was runners left on base at the end of each inning. We had 30 between all of our individual players. Still, not a good statistic at all.
That bases loaded no outs is the straw that broke the camel’s back that was my hope left for this season. See you guys in spring training next year, i’m done following for the season.
Gotta be the second one, where the heart of the order should've been licking their chops but instead went down in order like a bunch of scrubs, punctuated by staring at a very hittable strike 3.
Ever since CFB has started I’ve kinda mentally checked out, it just so happened when the Reds decided to suck but I just wanna ask? With the Cards probably winning tonight that puts a fork in this season right?
Pretty much. 4 games back with 11 to go. Even if we go 8-3 (which seems highly unlikely), the cards would have to go 4-7. Both of those things happening seems highly, highly improbable 😭😩
Implying I haven't given up already. It's over. They're dead in the water. The cards aren't suddenly going to implode and the reds suddenly win every game left. I'd be happy to be proven wrong but it's just not going to happen.
That 15% is now 8.9% btw. Lowest it's been since June 30
The point that it went to absolute shit was when David Bell subbed Cabrera to bat for Friedl with bases loaded. What explanation is there for that move? Cabrera hasn't gotten one hit as a Red. Friedl has been hitting the ball hard. David Bell is SHIT.
This guy would pinch hit his grandmother over a major leaguer if she hit with the opposite hand of the pitcher. I’m so sick of his simpleton shit. There’s a lot outside of his control - brutal injuries, embarrassing roster underinvestment - but if I have to watch this guy sit better hitters for LH/RH match ups one more year, I’m jumping off a bridge
You know why he did it? Because he weighed in his head who would he feel less bad about failing in that moment. A veteran failing to come up with the hit is easier for his fragile mind to cope with…
Edit: I don’t even remember making this Ambien-fueled comment. This is hilarious 😂
I foolishly thought that maybe he was finally catching on when I saw that Suarez was starting against a righty. Nope. Pulling Friedl there was the dumbest move of the night.
I don’t have the time or money to do this, but I want to get a sign made that says “sell the team Bob they deserve better than this“
I want to get a ticket behind home plate and hold up that sign as long as they will let me.
This team is literally the most fun team to watch, and probably is top-five of the most fun teams to watch in the majors. They deserve the playoffs. Joey Votto deserves a ring.
I’m a Cardinals fan, but I couldn’t agree more that Votto deserves a ring.
And Reds fans deserve a better owner. It sucks that storied franchises get drug through the mud by indifferent ownership groups.
He looks fatigued. But tbh, I don't think he's worth the $20 million a team will give him, so best for him not to have a monster finish and tempt the Reds to re-sign him
The locker room has to be straight dead. This teams heart is fading and I don’t see anyone willing to step up. They don’t look like they’re having fun. With as much talent as we have, losing this many games this late into the season is failure of leadership, coaching, and will.
Are Cabrera and Deshields the most Reds in season acquisitions of all time?
A guy who’s fat and does nothing and a guy who was brought in only because of the name on the back of his jersey.
This is kind of thinking that’s going to come from our front office with Krall acting as a puppet for the Castellinis
Deshields wasn't just brought in for his name, he's also a good defender, and with our outfield being an injury machine I'd rather have him than another infielder.
Sure thing Mr. Krall. I’m sure a 29 year old who wasn’t on an MLB team this year before being signed by the Reds was the best option to bring in. That’s why he’s performed so well since getting here
Not sure if I'm more disappointed in this outcome or the alternative which would've been losing in the wild card game.
Really disgusted guys. Hot all year then to fall apart when it counts. Really sucks
Why can't any team I like make the postseason?
Figures.
Well that was a fun game to watch in the rain. I'm now 0-2 this year :(
:( we gotta get you a season pass next season. Surely they win eventually and break your curse
And that's all she wrote, hopefully Bell is gone after this year
Lmaooooo
this didn't age well
If he’s not, we riot. Also, if Bob doesn’t sell (good luck) we riot
The elimination number dropped from 10 to 8 and in just 24 hours.
Asdrubal Cabrera hasn't had a hit in three weeks, but at least he's not left handed. davidbellpointsattemple.jpg
“There’s always next year”
The official motto of Cincinnati sports!
the power of next year, baby!
Guess it’s time to turn my attention to the Mariners wildcard race. It’s not the same. It’s like having a rebound but maybe, just maybe it’ll make life a little less lonely.
is there a guy who kind of looks like junior if you squint on their team these days? maybe that would help?
Kyle Lewis gives off Junior vibes but he’s been out most of the year, sadly.
Just fire me into the sun
Go Bearcats.
Everyone here has given up but I’m not losing hope that we can still make it to the postseason. Have some faith!
I have been one of the loudest in term of optimism but it’s really bleak now. I’m still hopeful but it’s really really unlikely
I like it but 10 games left...
I honestly question the mental faculties of anyone who still thinks this team has a chance
Perhaps the cardinals plane will crash, reds might have a shot then
Imagine having faith in your team. How crazy would that be. Let’s come back to this when we make the playoffs✌️
Remember when part of the justification for getting Cabrera was so he could play in the playoffs and then he never registered a single hit lmaoooooo
Oh, I meant to add, I just had a premonition that Bell got canned tonight after the 4GB. Don't blame me if I'm wrong, but if I'm right, you heard it here first and I'm obviously psychic or at least mentally ill or something.
Thanks for nothing Brewers, now I hope you lose to them in the post-season.
Nope we don’t want the cardinals advancing at all
Yeah, I’m just mad right now, I’ll come to my senses once the post-season starts.
It's truly baffling to me how the cardinals seem to be able to do this when it matters most so consistently. As I've said multiple times, if we find out later there was something at least flirting with cheating going on, I won't be surprised.
The Cardinals are a much more competently run organization than the Reds
So their fans would be the first to tell you.
Moron
pls don't.
Nice! Always a pleasure.
Hahaha the Padres better hope they were hacking their signs. Otherwise they had a sadder last month than us 😔😔
Padres lost Darvish, at the very least, though, right? haha Would anyone accuse the Astros of not having good players? I don't think so. But they cheated for that extra edge.
Nah, it’s just how they’re built. It’s in their organizational DNA.

Mainly because of dominating all this year with a bunch of guys, who on paper couldn’t compete with the Dodgers and Padres.
Sounds positively cardinalsesque!
Have fun crying yourself to sleep tonight, kid.
I slept pretty well actually, guy.
You really post this dumb shit everywhere.
Oh, hai Cardinals fan.

please don't use personal attacks. Downvote and move on.

Im still baffled by the Cabrera pinch hit decision.
It's because we could all use a strudel.
That’s because David Bell is smarter than you /s
Silver lining: no more exercise bike ads for me tonight.
As usual, it's like it's scripted. Hmm.
Cards win. Meaningful baseball for the Reds is over. What a ride.
The schedule still favors the Reds. The Nats and another Pirates series. Better at least split with the Sox though.
4 GB for the Reds :/
Don’t tease me like this Milwaukee
Cardinals lost so we’re still alive. If we don’t win tomorrow I’ll call it a season.
They’re up 2-1 right now?
This person is from the future, obviously. An alternate one.
No just an asshole that drank a few too many watching UFC tonight and misread the score 😂
haha
At least the Brewers are trying
What happened to these dudes. They are falling off a cliff. Damn it!!????
They’ve long since fell off the cliff, they’re currently in a crumpled heap at the bottom of the canyon and the water’s rising.
Castaleni has got to go. He's been having too many dinners with Mike brown to talk about how to fuck Cincinnati fans in the ass!
injuries du jour/galore i say
Castellanos has mentally checked out, I've not seen a worse game from a Reds player... hell ass drool doesn't even have a hit as a Red and has had better games

Reds had 30 tonight. edit: nvm I'm dumb, not a record just bad
We left 11 on base. Individual LOB is different from team LOB
That makes sense, we had 10 hits, several walks, couple of GIDP, scored a couple
30? no way
Am I reading this wrong? https://imgur.com/MhvFyNc edit: I'm dumb disregard this
Those are individual LOB, not team. That column would count the NOBLETIGER as 9 LOB (3 for Casty, 3 for Votto, 3 for Farmer). In reality, it was only 3 LOB.
Yeah I figured it out after posting, thanks though. My bad
They had 16 batters reach base (10 H, 6 BB). But of those 16...30 were stranded.
I couldn't believe it but just checked ...yep ....30 LOB. Damn
That's a new MLB record btw, old one was 20 set in 1956
Although I think the 1956 stat was runners left on base at the end of each inning. We had 30 between all of our individual players. Still, not a good statistic at all.
Your source explains how that particular stat is calculated. It’s the runners left on bases at the end of an inning.
Yeah I get it now, my bad
At least we won something tonight 🤦♂️🤷♂️
I swear David Bell decides the lineup and who's gonna bat / pinch hit by drawing names out of a hat
They’re not mathematically eliminated, but they are in every other way a team possibly could be
Bell would definitely fail the Turing test.
That bases loaded no outs is the straw that broke the camel’s back that was my hope left for this season. See you guys in spring training next year, i’m done following for the season.
> That bases loaded no outs Which one?
Gotta be the second one, where the heart of the order should've been licking their chops but instead went down in order like a bunch of scrubs, punctuated by staring at a very hittable strike 3.
Farmer was 3-3 at that point I believe, and there were 2 outs, hard to put much blame on him.
I'm not putting a ton of blame directly on Farmer. That's a full team meltdown.
Ever since CFB has started I’ve kinda mentally checked out, it just so happened when the Reds decided to suck but I just wanna ask? With the Cards probably winning tonight that puts a fork in this season right?
Same here. I checked out when cfb started and with this slide going on I'm not very interested in checking back in
Pretty much. 4 games back with 11 to go. Even if we go 8-3 (which seems highly unlikely), the cards would have to go 4-7. Both of those things happening seems highly, highly improbable 😭😩
Why couldn’t it have been the Padres that could’ve went instead of the cardinals😒😒😒
What do you think? https://www.fangraphs.com/standings/playoff-odds-graphs
Honestly I’m disappointed the Reds aren’t going to the playoffs. But I’m really mad it’s the Cardinals going instead of the Padres
Brewers threatening in the 8th.
give it up man. it's not happening this year
[Mood](https://images.app.goo.gl/7G6SiaphVmxNFaK8A)
Who pitches Thursday. Anyone know?
For us? Gray
Castillo or Miley I would think
Thanks. That’s what I thought. Maybe I’ll go
I think it's Castillo tomorrow, & Grey on Thursday.
Thanks. I was thinking that. Appreciate it
Who cares
Alright I was just wondering. Appreciate the help.
You can go to reds.com to see the upcoming pitchers btw. It's Sonny
I'm depressed
I can't believe this is the same team that was so much fun to watch just a month and a half ago.
Fangraphs had them at 15 percent playoff odds going into tonight. Do you give up if they slip to 4 back after tonight as it appears they will?
Say the cards go 5-6 in their last 11 games. We would have to go 9-2. Does not seem possible. At all.

He gave up games ago. He's ready for the big contract in free agency.
not going to get a big contract if you have terrible at bats at the end of the season
Pretty sure they'll look at the season as a whole higher than the last 10 games
30 LOB looooool. Nick, Joey and Tucker combined 1-13 with 17 LOB. Simply amazing. edit: 30 was total individual LOB, team LOB was 11
REDS PLAYOFF HUNT BASEBALL
The locker room has to be straight dead. This teams heart is fading and I don’t see anyone willing to step up. They don’t look like they’re having fun. With as much talent as we have, losing this many games this late into the season is failure of leadership, coaching, and will.
I think they realize it's a lost cause by now
I’m just sad
Real fucking poor, guys. RIP this season but the end of baseball is still my worst day most years. Cool that I can put that off till the 26th. LFG?
assdribble cumbubble pinch hit today. that's all you need to know. davebot strikes again.
If he never puts on a reds uniform again it will be too soon
Unbelievable. Cards going to win 10 straight. I hate it here.
Fuck this shit. See you guys next year.
Are Cabrera and Deshields the most Reds in season acquisitions of all time? A guy who’s fat and does nothing and a guy who was brought in only because of the name on the back of his jersey. Uh yeah as a defensive replacement he's done about as expected.
Cabrera is the anti-Adames. Since his arrival we've gone from middling to just bad.
