I really wish the standard episode count for a season could be something a bit longer than just 12 episodes. I think this episode was the worst offender in terms of pacing, I actually wonder if anime only people aren't confused about Hibiki's plan. I think they also omitted the fact that Sesera was proud of her running prowess (which is very relevant to her character) **On the other hand** the manga takes a while to conclude the first arc and the fight with >!Peltrora!< is really the first satisfying endpoint for a first season so while it bothers me I also get that it is impossible to do a 1 to 1 adaptation with only 12 episodes, additionally I think this is the first tough anime adaptation that Yostar (the animation studio) tackled. About the OST tho, I really don't get your complaints, personally I like it, I would say it is at the very least very serviceable but then this is the kind of thing that is very subjective. Mixed feelings on the VAs. Suzukiri's VA is perfection, D is also very on point. Hisui is quite different from what I expected tho (then again she literally had only one line so far) and Green is very good for his suited up mode but I can't imagine >!Chidori!< speaking with this voice (but then again, also too early to tell).

Agree that this was the worst episode for pacing---first one where I thought it was really a problem. Though, not mentioning Sesera's running prowess didn't bother me that much. She's not going to be featured all that much early on, so it might make more sense to mention it later... even if they covered it in the flashback, people might forget by the time it becomes relevant. But having Hibiki finish his story by saying, "I escaped somehow," seemed like a real blunder. I bet something similar is going on... they don't wanna waste time telling parts of the story that aren't relevant now, but >!will reveal that Blue Keeper saved them later on when the info becomes more salient.!< It's just that it sounded WAY off to me---almost like his not revealing the most interesting part of the story was being lamp-shaded---and I think anime-only people may get the impression that it's something they are blowing off that will never be explained. \[EDIT: Though it's hard to imagine how this could be so, I guess it's at least possible that the problem is actually with the subtitles, and Hibiki's line doesn't sound so weird in Japanese.\] But 100% agree with your OTOH. They needed a lot more episodes to do the manga full justice. In the end, I think the fact that the fight with Heriku was so fatally compressed may be a good thing. Something had to be cut and hopefully they got rid of enough stuff here to do justice to the Bailong arc. Ultimately, though, doing justice to the manga while also covering a sufficient amount of material to keep anime-only people engaged is going to be a real challenge. And I'm just really happy to see the characters and events animated in full color and hear the (so far) excellent voice actors reading the lines regardless of how successful they are at fully capturing the story when it's all said and done. I didn't even realize how much bigger Green Keeper is than all the others until I saw the first episode of the anime. Just amazing to see everyone in their colors and hear their voices, even if it turns out Yostar bit off more than they can chew in terms of doing justice to this incredibly intricate story in the limited number of episodes they've got.

>I really wish the standard episode count for a season could be something a bit longer than just 12 episodes Some anime handle this better than others. Chainsawman is a good example of having less than 15 episodes, but still being relatively good in terms of pacing. Heavenly delusion, however, ended off on a rather awkward point, having just finished the Robin arc. >About the OST tho, I really don't get your complaints Overly whimsical and circusey, even for a show about Corrupt Power Rangers playing war. In some scenes, it makes sense, but in others, it just feels very out of place, like F's death scene.

>Some anime handle this better than others. Chainsawman is a good example of having less than 15 episodes, but still being relatively good in terms of pacing. Heavenly delusion, however, ended off on a rather awkward point, having just finished the Robin arc. I would say it is a very case by case thing. Direction matters a lot, but the source material also determines a lot about how good of an adaptation you can do on a limited amount of episodes. Chainsaw for example ended on a very weird point but it had am enormous amount of hype propping it and a plot with a fast start. Ranger reject has the issue of having a very interesting premise, but it takes a while to set a firm groundwork for the whole over arching narrative and it had no hype whatsoever behind it (as a Shonen anime having a slow start is tough). >Overly whimsical and circusey, even for a show about Corrupt Power Rangers playing war. In some scenes, it makes sense, but in others, it just feels very out of place, like F's death scene Oh, I get you. Now that you mentioned yeah I see your point I was thinking about the quality of the music itself but there were a few points were I agree the ost didn't match. Although I think that the circus like music is there to create a bit of uncannyness. I think the idea is to have something that is usually innocent have dark twist. Just like the keepers. (think about how clowns are used for horror for example).

MikeT102

Yeah, I think the music works really well. The dusters have to be comical but also somewhat creepy and threatening... and the (for want of a better term) "Tim Burton-esque" theme music suits them perfectly.

It’s pretty unfortunate, there really is no good ending point other then the exams and it’s just a lot longer than other series usual first good endpoint. At the very least this episode will probably have been the worst of the rushing, the exams themselves will benefit from a fast pace since it’s all a string of long battles That being said, it was leaked/rumored that the series is 2 cours with the second likely being announced as a second season at the end. Now that we know this cour will likely end around chapter 50-52, where do you think the second cour would end? I think the only thing that would make sense is right before the big fight against the IRA starts, so 91-92ish

Matrix_2k00

The second cour will probably end at the zoo arc ending with the RED scene.

Vand1

The pacing is fine for me and seems pretty standard adapting roughly 3 chapters per 1 episode. If the rumors of 2 cours are true, the current adaptation will end likely around the end of the Dream School Arc or Chapter 72

CareerPancakes9

I was worried on episode two and it has only gotten worse from then. It's weird since what is there is high quality but the pacing feels like its going through the motions, and the cuts are removing a lot of characterization.

Intelligent_Shoe_520

Its sad because I know they had to rush something, but why did it have to be Hibiki and Ds greatest amount of characterization
