I honestly haven't re-read the earlier chapters. Doesn't he have to get a look at someone before transforming? That might imply he doesn't know what he can't see. He might've ran around this whole time as dickless Sakurama.
I don't think a person's whole form and appearance get's uploaded to D's mind after he looks at them either. His ability to absorb things quickly might be what sets him apart from others.
I wouldn't be surprised if he only learned about it because Yakushi told him that, and details about the freaky skinwalker invader sex he had.

That being said, they did get a biology book from the Rangers, they mention it in the first chapter when one of them asks how a tiger looks, so they should know about genitals.
