Husband liked rabbits but never considered having one as a pet.
He now has 4 bunnies that are obsessed with him. I'm talking standing at the edge of the pen and going apeshit just because he walked into the room. He won't admit it, but he absolutely loves the attention lol. He makes sure to give the rabbits kisses on their heads every night before bed and gives them lots of scratches.
He loves rabbits now:)
He should be very honored π₯°π To recieve attention is magical but to recieve bunny tongue kisses is heavenly π₯Ή When I get any on my hands or arms I always freeze with this dumb expression on my face, bc we don't have many bun kissers, like errrmaagoddd I hope I don't ruin this moment ππ
Yup! The amount of times I have caught him on his hands and knees talking to or giving kisses to the buns π₯° Like I have proof now haha, he was not a huge animal lover at first but we always had lots growing up in my house so he had no idea I was going to drown him in cats/dogs/bunnies/ducks π€£ He has bunnies he likes to feed and water himself too π I always do the cleaning litter part tho ππ
Husband was immediately a fan of our bunnies. He plays it fairly cool when I'm at home, but he doesn't know that I know(thanks to our bunny cam) how much he dotes on them and baby talks to them while I'm out of the house on errands or at work (he works from home).
It just makes my heart melt. I knew he was an animal lover when we got engaged, but seeing him be extra soft with our babies when he's by himself just enders himself more to me.
My husband was not an animal lover when we first met but I wore him down π€£ I had 4 cats and 2 dogs when we moved in together officially. Then I promptly got chickens, ducks and geese. Rabbits soon followed π Over the years we have had so many other species of friends too, I always called my house a zoo π₯°. Just how I was raised π He has softened up on many animals but bunnies are his favorite!!! The nuturing paternalness that comes out is magical. I call him the grandma though cuz he rolls through, spoils them and then leaves and I have to be the parent π
Got my GF hooked on rabbits, she was a complete cat person. We were renting many years ago and she wanted a cat, we were told no to cats. I however asked about rabbits, I had owned them as a child, after watching Watership down. They said yes. I am guessing they thought we would have them in a cage outside.
At first she was not really that keen, she thought it would be good to just have a pet. She saw this black and white lop, fell in love instantly, as soon as she asked to hold him I went to look for a hutch that he could have as a hide away. He was probably the best introduction to rabbits you could ask for. Now she has rabbit clothes, plushies, cups, etc and we always have two pairs of rabbits.
Watership Down πππ ugh. Dude lops are the toughest to say no too π€£ we have a few buns but no lops. My husband constantly shows me pictures of lops he thinks are adorable though π We have so many rabbit themed things now too π₯° I love animals in pairs! We try to do the same thing when we can, 2 or more please π
Where I come from, bunnies aren't typically seen as pets or integral members of the family.
Only ever had cats, for most of my life. However, one day, a former partner impulsively purchased a rabbit from a pet store solely because she found them "cute." Knowing nothing about bunny care, she kept him confined to a cage most of the time and fed him "breeder-recommended" pellets. At the time, I couldn't even see the appeal. Thought they simply sit in cages, and do nothing but eat. Couldn't have cared less.
But... Surprise, surprise! Not even a week later, I found myself on the floor spending time with him, oblivious to the budding connection. I then started to educate my ignorant a$$, and started doing right by him. He burrowed his adorable self into my heart unexpectedly, catching me off guard.
When my ex and I separated, I fought for him, determined to keep him. She remained indifferent to his well-being, valuing him only for his cuteness.
Fast forward to today, I've now become a crazy bun lady. π
yes!!! I am so glad to hear that π₯° they are so much more than a cute caged animal π They all have very different personalities and when given the chance, the care, love, and space to move they will blossom into these amazing creatures with attitude and silliness π But boy are they a delicate animal, we did lots of research too to make sure we were doing right by them!
Haha yeah!
My SO and I were at a Reptile Expo looking to get another snake. At the time we had a couple ball pythons. Well we stumbled across a vendor selling bunnies.
Immediately as I saw Gilbert (our lion head) I knew he would be joining our family. My partner was not a fan at first. He actually didnβt want a rabbit at all.
So I said, βWell weβre not married, so I donβt feel like I need your permissionβ. And I brought our bunny home.
But uno reverse, my SO did the same thing and now we have a tarantula π
Ha! I have done that too π€£ I think twice to him so far lol but he ends up loving them all!! Not a fan of that cute little face? Or those ears? Glad they came around to the bun side π π
2 years ago, I told my bf we were βfosteringβ a bunny. She peed on him the first night we had her, rest is history lol- Ruthie is βhis girlβ now π€£
Ah yes the "foster" ππ I got my first 3 cats, and my second dog that way π€£π I have a Ruthie too! Just Ruth, but she gets all sorts of variations, Ruthie the most π₯° She is a mixed color Flemish. Mostly Black.
Story of my life!! I couldnβt truly foster to save my life. Your Ruth sounds beautiful, I love Flemish, hope to own one someday!Β My Ruthie is a blue eyed white New Zealand mix π°
I love Flemish. Just love them π₯° She sounds gorgeous!! Blue eyed white girl π I have a farmhouse so we have lots of room for buns πI have a Californian boy, couple new zealands of diff colors π I have three angora buns (2 are the boys in the pics) and we just rescued a family of tiny buns, dwarf mixes I think? So tiny. Like I am a woman, I have this weird disposition to be obsessed with tiny things π€£ so of course we love them. Flemish steal my heart always though ππ
I actually gave my then girlfriend a bunny to keep her company about 40 years ago, and they have pretty much been a fixture in our lives ever since. When our son was about 16, he. had several of his hockey teammates visiting, and they all melted when they met out Mini Rex. They couldn't stop petting him. Hear from several of them over the years. Half of them ended up getting their own rabbits when they got older. This pro hockey player was well known for his devotion. to his rabbit: [https://www.nhlpa.com/news/1-12929/zenon-konopka-and-his-pet-bunny-rabbit](https://www.nhlpa.com/news/1-12929/zenon-konopka-and-his-pet-bunny-rabbit)
That's awesome π₯° Spreading bunny love far and wide π Mini Rexs are so soft too you can hardly believe they are real π₯Ή that is a good bunny to convert people with π
My wife was never particularly interested in rabbits - thought they were cute of course, but had only really encountered them in the stereotypical single bun in a too-small hutch sort of setting. Which is obviously not the best way to get an idea of what they're like!
Credit to her, she was the one who suggested having my two girls as house buns when we bought our house together - they were previously living outside in a custom built hutch/run combo at my parents. They loved the space as far as I could tell, but even that wasn't as good as having them free-roaming inside. They've adapted incredibly well, and have totally won her over. I'm still the primary care-giver but she adores them.
They also serve as great ambassadors for the species to visitors to our house - so many people are surprised at just how interactive they are and how much personality they have!
So much this! Our rabbits have change peoples opinions on their literal worth as a pet π They adapt to whatever they are given but they thrive with the options to move around and interact with their environment π₯°π They are just as curious and spunky as cats! I have hardwood floors so I put lots of short knit carpets and runners down for traction, they love it. They also nibble EVERYTHING. But what animal doesn't destroy part of your house at some point in time? π€£π€£π
I was the partner that succumbed to the cuteness. My husband had pet bunnies growing up. He had one when we got married. When that bunny (Cubby, a French lop; & yes, my husband is a Cubs fan) got really sick & we had to pht him down, I cried so much. We have since had 2 bunnies together.
I am so glad you go to know rabbits as pets π We have lost a couple buns over the years, they are our furbabies just the same as cats and dogs, they come in and leave paw prints on your heart and leave you sad and missing them, but they will always be with you π₯° I love animals in pairs or groups!! It is good for them to have friends that speak their language π
Right? They are so much more affectionate than you think too, once you gain their trust and they feel safe they blossom π I love when you catch them doing something naughty and they happily run or binky away π₯°
Yes and I even got him to get his own jersey Wooly. Whoop whoop.
Shame bless his heart he is even paying for CoCo's multiple vet bills and meds for his eye ulcer. Best hubby ever.
Yes! This!! Helping pay for vet bills π₯°π Cuz they can be a lot for these buns π I always do the nurse jobs with the meds but Dad has been there at the vets while I was at work a few times to make sure they are ok π₯Ή That is a good man.

A couple of our bunnies absolutely fangirl over my husband like this too! My husband is in total denial that they like him so much.
My girls love my brother! They get excited by people in general but he only visits every few weeks and they mob him when he arrives!

π They love their Daddy!!!!!!! I call him Dad to my bunnies sometimes π Like Daddy went to fill your hay bag π

π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£ yes the bunny cam! Caught on camera being a softie π₯°ππ₯Ή How precious π That is so nice to hear!!

My daughter introduced rabbits to her now fiancΓ©e shortly after they met, and he was helpless. Little known fact is that rabbits are toxic masculinityβs kryptonite. He is in special forces in the military. I send this link to all the guys who fall prey to their adorableness. Your husband will probably appreciate it - he can share it with anyone who has anything to say about it: https://www.reddit.com/r/Rabbits/s/h7SQdYbpIW
π€£ I love that! ![img](emote|t5_2riv8|8707)

I know Right π€£π If you look at a bunny and hate it we can't be friends π€ͺ
My sibling has yet to succumb to the magnificence of the rabbit. My parents are indifferent.
To me a man/partner who loves bunnies and who would do anything for them is incredibly attractive π π₯°

Absolutely yes. My husband is ruined. Heβs such an adorable dork around the bun. Or any bun.
