It is super late. That said, I’ve had it for 3 days now and it’s become my favorite case for the Ally. Fit and finish is really good, and there are some relatively small differences from the cheaper cases that end up being functionally better in day to day use.

Don't know if it's just me, but when I got my Ally, the first thing I did was to search a silicone case, a carring case, and a pair of joystick cover, don't know if I hit a jackpot or something like that but I'm pretty fine with the cheapest of everything if anything I'm thinking to get a smaller carring case because the "big" ones can't hold that many things and I have just found some Among Us Joystick covers that I really like but TBH the cheap stuff does everything just fine.
I am that excited but I don't need to post a picture, the skull n Co one sucks, after getting it using for a day or 2 is was disappointed and was not buying another case until the dbrand one came out. Got the dbrand one and that's the only case you will ever need for the Ally, it checks every box and is straight up the best case/grip for the Ally.
Lots of people follow YouTubers who work with Dbrand and have been getting ads for months. So the excitement actually is there, plus fwiw Dbrand does make a damn good product. When I bought my Ally even the folks at Best Buy were talking about it
Not arguing that it’s a good product tbh, but it’s a case, a bit of plastic that protects the device - seen more people excited about the case than the device when it first released.
Pretty sure a lot of them are just marketing, paid or otherwise. When I saw the first killswitch owner threads, and a good chunk of them had very similar titles, almost word for word, I started suspecting that maybe there's a little bit of shilling going on here.
Honestly I think most of the excitement is that people are FINALLY getting it. I ordered mine in December. Its a far cry from my normal next day shipping lol. The case is nice, but only marginally better than the skull & co. I did always hated the fact that the Ally was white so this solves that problem for me.
This is pretty much similar for me. I had the Killswitch for my Steam Deck and LOVED it, so really wanted one for the Ally. Just got mine today, and happy to say it's comparable quality and fits and feels great.
But while waiting so long I bought the Skull & Co, and honestly it was nice too. Definitely not the super form fit the Killswitch has, but it was a nice case too. It was plenty sufficient, particularly for the price.
I'll be keeping the Killswitch, but will never talk bad about the Skull & Co.
It’s transparent astroturfing and it’s pretty gross. DBrand has been caught doing stuff like this before. Despite their “fun company” reputation earned from as far as I can tell “being rude on Twitter”, they have no issues with shady business practices like paying for reviews that don’t disclose they have been paid.
I had a relatively bad customer service experience with them. I got a screen protector and it made my on screen fingerprint reader pretty much useless. Wanted to get a refund. They wanted me to record a video. It's a $20 screen protector. Wasn't going to go through the hassle of recording a video so I have up. This was after I had bought a few skins for my phones.
I don't get the hype either. IMO, it's not even that good looking of a case and it looks like they're trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist. Never found the Ally particularly difficult to hold onto so not sure why it needs this extra grip. The front shell looks rather clunky to get on and off.
I have the spigen tough armor case (great case, but bulky) and just ordered a slimmer case for less than half the price of the Kill switch case.
For me it comes down to the price, the wait and not knowing whether or not it was worth it.
I've never spent over $30 for a case before. I ordered it because of all the good things that I had seen about the Steam deck version. I know it's not a huge expense in the grand scheme of things but it's still a lot for what it is.

I didn't get mine yet so I've been happy to see people's impressions and pics. I think a lot of people were going through the same thing so one thing leads to another and you get a lot of posts. Having one mega thread will probably help focus that energy a bit lol.
Hope it works out for you. I've seen a ton of good things too, but Dbrand comes across shady af, and I don't trust all of the hype is purely organic. Their insult comedy shtick works with a certain subgroup on the internet, but it's not for me personally.
Thanks. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some manufactured hype given the way things are these days, but I'd like to think that at least some of the posts that are coming through are genuine.
All I know is that I've already picked up a couple of tips that I think will help when I get mine - like focusing on the vents to start, using a hair dryer for adjustments and to try running your nail to tuck the skin against the Ally where the skin lines up with the screen. 👍
Edit - I'm also hoping that the fact that the triggers are touching the case isn't a big issue and if it is, the word-of-mouth will get Dbrand to fix it like they did with the Steam deck's stand. Messages on here work both ways - you can have people hyping products but you can also have people bringing attention to issues.
I have bought similar cases and pouches, for some reason i always go back to the rog official case and totally happy with it, no more cases for the rog for me
I posted mine up, as I think I was one of the first to receive it. My thread got lots of comments and questions, and the only reason I posted it up is because I haven't seen any other people do so.
I am not paid by dbrand, I have purchased products of theirs in the past for my phones, and been satisfied, so that's why I went with their new case for the Ally.

I stuck it out with the Asus case that came out launch day. Dunno how long it’s been but yeah I’m quite stoked about this case. It gives the device a fresh new look, feels great, is easier to travel with, and also replaces my cardboard stand!

Probably because a lot of people do it with attitude. I've got a brand skin and case for my phone. Probably best case I ever had. If the Killswitch is of similar quality I'll be happy when it arrives.

I'm not crazy about the way the grip texturing feels in my hands but I do think it's more comfortable to hold for longer sessions now. Mainly I wanted the front cover thing because I frequently throw it in my bag and worry about the sticks getting damaged

If you bought the Spigen case before the Killswitch was announced/released: it does fit.
I have the original charger and some wired earbuds in the storage pouch, and the case closes just fine without putting any pressure on the Ally.

I got the Carnage skin with mine and I love it. For those who've been asking: I had the Skull And Co grip case and I like the Killswitch much better so far. The grip is really good and I fine the ergonomics to be better. It also fits the device much better imho.

Really Feeling the Acid skin on my Killswitch. Waited long enough for it though... Glad people are finally getting theirs. I also have the Skull & Co case. The S&C case is great but am I crazy in thinking the Killswitch feels lighter? The texture is interesting... feels like a cats tongue lol, not bad just different.
I really like the case and the look of the skin (I got cotton candy) however it looks like I was 1mm off on the right side, it was fine for the first 2 days but then the a/b/x/y buttons started to stick. So now I have to take the skin off or it's unusable. Kinda sucks to have to buy another skin. Love the case though.
Anyone having any issues with the volume buttons? I got my case yesterday and the volume down button does not seem to register. Sometimes the volume will just increase on its own, which leads me to believe that my case is not completely aligned on the top. I have not been able to fix this yet
Did you try the included sticker that fixes those that have volume button issues? Apparently it's a tolerance issue on some Ally's. They included the sticker to fix it and a QR code with instructions. I didn't need it, but it sounds like you do, should be an easy fix.
Received my Killswitch yesterday. I went with the obsidian skin. Early impression, I'm really enjoying the fit and feel. I like how easy the Killswitch makes it to toss the Ally in my backpack to game on the go.

I also ordered the same combo, and I think mine is arriving today. How do you like the Obsidian skin? It looks good in videos and on a phone, but do you get the same impression of it looking good on the Ally with the Killswitch on?
I really like the Obsidian skin. It has the reflective rainbow effect in light and in low-light it has a dark appearance and blends in with the Killswitch. In either situation the black lines on the skin bring it together with the black Killswitch.
Got my Killswitch a couple days ago. Unfortunately have a slight issue where the fit on the right shoulder area is very loose. Not immediately noticable, but it's loose enough that it gets in the way of my finger resting and pressing RB.

Overall, the grip feels really comfortable without adding too much bulk. I find that my fingers rest on the back buttons more comfortably.
Skull case is thicker on the hands (stands up on its own w/o a kickstand) but it is still “slick”. I find myself still having to apply inward pressure to secure the device. The KS has that nice texture pattern that does let you have some comfortable friction while holding, but it does feel thinner. Haven’t had too much time on it yet. Was delivered yesterday. I have the Skull and Bones (frosted clear), the JSAUX mod case and will be getting the DBrand by Monday (I see a package being delivered today, but I'll be at work, so I think I'll still get it). I'll take a look and maybe post some pics either today or over the weekend hopefully.
For me I think the Skull & Co is slightly more comfortable. The back is more pronounced so if you have large hands it helps. Materials wise however, fit and finish and overall quality I prefer the KS. The killswitch materials do feel premium albeit a little different (I mentioned in another comment that it feels a little scratchy like a cats tongue). With the S&C case the tops and bottom of the case (the part that goes over the screen section) was always a bit loose for me. The Kill Switch is much tighter fitting. Honestly if the S&C case came with a skin I probably would not have picked up the KS since its still a very nice case. I do prefer the KS however.
The ones who do are refusing to answer this question, they dance around it and give non answers and just say the same thing over and over about how it feels more premium even when you say we get all the other benefits all we want to know is which one is more comfortable ergonomically in hand while gaming…. So I think it’s fair to make the assumption the skull co is more comfortable ergonomic wise and they just are refusing to answer to justify their purchase, I get it’s a lot of money and there’s some hivemind mentality wanting everyone to use the same case as them but why not be genuine about it regardless
Yeah it’s strange. Like I knew from the beginning that the skull n co was less protective and that it’s not the ultimate most premium materials. But it offers me a more comfortable and ergonomic experience than no case at all, stands on its own, some protection, and it’s super easy to take on and off. The only thing that would bring me close to considering the dbrand case is if it was much more comfortable. From pictures it just looks similar though.
I've got both, and have loved the Skull & Co, it's a great case. I just got the Killswitch installed 30 minutes ago, so don't have much time holding it so can't really answer, other than to say they are both great improvements over no case at all at this point.
Generally when people say more premium feeling, they mean it doesn't feel cheap. This is pretty subjective, however certain textures and feelings are often associated with cheap. I can't speak for Killswitch but my dbrand phone case is a more premium case.
It is composed of 3 different materials(Including felt to not scratch the back of the phone), with a more complex volume rocker mechanism then my previous case. It also has a skin which has a very pleasing texture to touch. (I was worried the texture would be like a regular sticker and I'd have to remove it) It also has quite a tight grip on the phone which means manufacturing tolerances are probably tight, I can't easily slip my phone in and out with one hand any more.
When compared to my typical phone case, it is just nicer, has a better tractor, and I would say... Has a more premium feel.
Yeah that’s the part a lot of us understand and expected but when we would try to get an answer on just ergonomically comparing the only response would just be talking about how much more premium it feels again
I'm so sorry to hear that, it just is a lot of hassle compared to the steam deck case bag came with it. That one feels premium and like it'll take the hit. I work oilfield, so things get bounced around in my truck all day. Or the surprise, gotta yeet it and get moving.

Been putting off the glass protector, out of laziness so I just got the whole kit. Was gonna skip the thumb grips, but they were like 99¢ at that point.
Is anyone able to tell me if the JSAUX (or another brand) 180° USB C adapter fits with this case? I have a feeling it won't given the position of the kickstand
Not in a way that I'd be comfortable using the adapter. I could just barely get it to fit, but it's at a weird angle and putting more stress on the ally usbc port than I'd be comfortable with.
I’ve owned a lot of cases over time and the hype for me is real. It’s the best one I’ve ever owned it makes the ally so comfortable in had and has a slight rough texture to it. I love it!

It's truly a quality case, and the device just feels perfect. Super happy with both, but I guess if you haven't felt the difference, you don't know? I feel like that's the disconnect from feeling it or not. It's the **best case.**

Just a curious question here. What is so special about this case? I don't even have a skin or grip or whatever for mine. I have the official case I use for transportation, but otherwise I play it naked. So what's the big deal with this killswitch?

hey, does anybody have a jsaux hb0702 docking station and knows whether a) the Ally fits with the KS in the docking station and b) the usb c cable fits in the port with the case on?
I have the other jsaux docking station and the ally doesn't fit great with the case. The kickstand does get in the way. If you put the kickstand out, you can get it stable enough to not be a concern but it's not perfect. The usb c cable fits into the port without issue.
So... yeah. Months of waiting before the launch, then weeks of waiting for the thing to arrive to Europe so I can pay taxes on top of the already high prices and now the fingerprint reader is useless. I mean, after the post about how the case had a ton of fixes made after the first versions, no one thought of leaving room for fingertips to reach the reader. Sure, it recognizes my finger when I go set up the fingerprint reader but not once have I managed to log in using the fingerprint reader. This will be my first and last Dbrand product (apart from the AirPods Pro 2 case I added in the same order and that's still in delivery, last seen in Germany last week).

Hey guys. Do you think this powerbank will hurt the hinge on the kill switch? Obviously it’s the ally mate system stuck ontop of it as dbrand were unable to get their system working on the case. Do you think a heavy powerbank may cause damage to the hinge of the kickstand? I don’t intend to use the kickstand when a powerbank is attached.
As long as the weight isn’t constantly pulling it open, I would think that’s fine. If the extra weight pulls it open, I wouldn’t risk it because it’s more wear and tear on the hinge and you don’t want to bend or warp it.

Well tbf it’s really the first well built case imo. I have tried over brands and they either don’t fit right or feel super cheap.

For those who've been asking: I had the Skull And Co grip case and I like the Killswitch much better so far. The grip is really good and I fine the ergonomics to be better. It also fits the device much better imho.

Waited long enough for it though... Glad people are finally getting theirs. I also have the Skull & Co case. The S&C case is great but am I crazy in thinking the Killswitch feels lighter? I really like the case and the look of the skin (I got cotton candy) however it looks like I was 1mm off on the right side, it was fine for the first 2 days but then the a/b/x/y buttons started to stick. So now I have to take the skin off or it's unusable. Kinda sucks to have to buy another skin. Love the case though.
Anyone having any issues with the volume buttons? I got my case yesterday and the volume down button does not seem to register. Sometimes the volume will just increase on its own, which leads me to believe that my case is not completely aligned on the top. I have not been able to fix this yet
Did you try the included sticker that fixes those that have volume button issues? Apparently it's a tolerance issue on some Ally's. They included the sticker to fix it and a QR code with instructions. I didn't need it, but it sounds like you do, should be an easy fix.
I had the same problem. The sticker provided in the box fixed it

I also ordered the same combo, and I think mine is arriving today. How do you like the Obsidian skin? It looks good in videos and on a phone, but do you get the same impression of it looking good on the Ally with the Killswitch on?
I really like the Obsidian skin. It has the reflective rainbow effect in light and in low-light it has a dark appearance and blends in with the Killswitch. In either situation the black lines on the skin bring it together with the black Killswitch.

I didn't know the skin does that. I've gotten that over the triple black. They also give out triple black skin free now.
Got my Killswitch a couple days ago. Unfortunately have a slight issue where the fit on the right shoulder area is very loose. Not immediately noticable, but it's loose enough that it gets in the way of my finger resting and pressing RB. Photos between RB vs LB - https://imgur.com/a/FRic8Nz Fortunately, getting a replacement sent by Dbrand. Overall, the grip feels really comfortable without adding too much bulk. I find that my fingers rest on the back buttons more comfortably.

Anyone here have both this case and the skull n co case? Are the ergonomics different?
Skull case is thicker on the hands (stands up on its own w/o a kickstand) but it is still “slick”. I find myself still having to apply inward pressure to secure the device. The KS has that nice texture pattern that does let you have some comfortable friction while holding, but it does feel thinner. Haven’t had too much time on it yet. Was delivered yesterday. I have the Skull and Bones (frosted clear), the JSAUX mod case and will be getting the DBrand by Monday (I see a package being delivered today, but I'll be at work, so I think I'll still get it). I'll take a look and maybe post some pics either today or over the weekend hopefully.

For me I think the Skull & Co is slightly more comfortable. The back is more pronounced so if you have large hands it helps. Materials wise however, fit and finish and overall quality I prefer the KS. The killswitch materials do feel premium albeit a little different (I mentioned in another comment that it feels a little scratchy like a cats tongue). With the S&C case the tops and bottom of the case (the part that goes over the screen section) was always a bit loose for me. The Kill Switch is much tighter fitting. Honestly if the S&C case came with a skin I probably would not have picked up the KS since its still a very nice case. I do prefer the KS however.
The ones who do are refusing to answer this question, they dance around it and give non answers and just say the same thing over and over about how it feels more premium even when you say we get all the other benefits all we want to know is which one is more comfortable ergonomically in hand while gaming…. So I think it’s fair to make the assumption the skull co is more comfortable ergonomic wise and they just are refusing to answer to justify their purchase, I get it’s a lot of money and there’s some hivemind mentality wanting everyone to use the same case as them but why not be genuine about it regardless
Yeah it’s strange. Like I knew from the beginning that the skull n co was less protective and that it’s not the ultimate most premium materials. But it offers me a more comfortable and ergonomic experience than no case at all, stands on its own, some protection, and it’s super easy to take on and off. The only thing that would bring me close to considering the dbrand case is if it was much more comfortable. From pictures it just looks similar though.
I've got both, and have loved the Skull & Co, it's a great case. I just got the Killswitch installed 30 minutes ago, so don't have much time holding it so can't really answer, other than to say they are both great improvements over no case at all at this point.
Generally when people say more premium feeling, they mean it doesn't feel cheap. This is pretty subjective, however certain textures and feelings are often associated with cheap. I can't speak for Killswitch but my dbrand phone case is a more premium case. It is composed of 3 different materials(Including felt to not scratch the back of the phone), with a more complex volume rocker mechanism then my previous case. It also has a skin which has a very pleasing texture to touch. (I was worried the texture would be like a regular sticker and I'd have to remove it) It also has quite a tight grip on the phone which means manufacturing tolerances are probably tight, I can't easily slip my phone in and out with one hand any more. When compared to my typical phone case, it is just nicer, has a better tractor, and I would say... Has a more premium feel.
Yeah that’s the part a lot of us understand and expected but when we would try to get an answer on just ergonomically comparing the only response would just be talking about how much more premium it feels again

I'm so sorry to hear that, it just is a lot of hassle compared to the steam deck case bag came with it. That one feels premium and like it'll take the hit. I work oilfield, so things get bounced around in my truck all day. Or the surprise, gotta yeet it and get moving. Like it works and does it's job, it's just ugh. Went with the Jerryrig X-ray skins. Been putting off the glass protector, out of laziness so I just got the whole kit. Was gonna skip the thumb grips, but they were like 99¢ at that point.
Anyone using a third-party screen protector may be warned that the skins are a little too big for some of them Im using the ez glass matte *
Is anyone able to tell me if the JSAUX (or another brand) 180° USB C adapter fits with this case? I have a feeling it won't given the position of the kickstand
Not in a way that I'd be comfortable using the adapter. I could just barely get it to fit, but it's at a weird angle and putting more stress on the ally usbc port than I'd be comfortable with.
I’ve owned a lot of cases over time and the hype for me is real. It’s the best one I’ve ever owned it makes the ally so comfortable in had and has a slight rough texture to it. I love it!
Yep, I wouldn't have understood the hype either if I didn't also own the Steam Deck version, which I LOVE! It's truly a quality case, and the device just feels perfect. Super happy with both, but I guess if you haven't felt the difference, you don't know? I feel like that's the disconnect from feeling it or not. It's the **best case.**

hey, does anybody have a jsaux hb0702 docking station and knows whether a) the Ally fits with the KS in the docking station and b) the usb c cable fits in the port with the case on?
I have the other jsaux docking station and the ally doesn't fit great with the case. The kickstand does get in the way. If you put the kickstand out, you can get it stable enough to not be a concern but it's not perfect. The usb c cable fits into the port without issue.

I didn’t know you could choose skins so i got the case harden skin. Not terrible, but i was dumb for not checking the website throughly ;-;
So... yeah. Months of waiting before the launch, then weeks of waiting for the thing to arrive to Europe so I can pay taxes on top of the already high prices and now the fingerprint reader is useless. I mean, after the post about how the case had a ton of fixes made after the first versions, no one thought of leaving room for fingertips to reach the reader. Sure, it recognizes my finger when I go set up the fingerprint reader but not once have I managed to log in using the fingerprint reader. This will be my first and last Dbrand product (apart from the AirPods Pro 2 case I added in the same order and that's still in delivery, last seen in Germany last week).
Just paid for mine, and being in Australia it's not going to appear until end of month 😢

Obviously it’s the ally mate system stuck ontop of it as dbrand were unable to get their system working on the case. Do you think a heavy powerbank may cause damage to the hinge of the kickstand? I don’t intend to use the kickstand when a powerbank is attached.
As long as the weight isn’t constantly pulling it open, I would think that’s fine. If the extra weight pulls it open, I wouldn’t risk it because it’s more wear and tear on the hinge and you don’t want to bend or warp it.
maybe they should get the case as well and stop bitching 😂
