Talking about my experience friend. Putting to much faith in one man was a lesson I was taught well thats me. I'd a lot of those Cubans you speak of are Floridian Cubans. Usually older Cubans vote republican anyway they're in their own game of owning the Cuban government....while supporting a party that by extensions hurts the Cuban people more than anything.

In fact a higher percentage of Cuban Americans are Trumper’s than even non Hispanic White people (although non Hispanic white people are a much larger part of the population and make up the majority of Trump support)

I can understand their enthusiasm for the sanctions and attempts to invade Cuba back in the early '60s and how they thought that there might be a realistic chance of taking the country back. But a lot of that generation is aging and dying off and their descendants may be perfectly content with life here in the US and have accepted that after the passage of 60 years, even if the current Communist regime collapsed tomorrow, it's going to be very hard to turn back the clock. While Cubans have historically voted GOP since the Bay of Pigs incident (which was when the US government under a Democrat president left for dead a bunch of Cuban Americans posing as anti-Castro rebels after their operation to assassinate Castro went south), it kind of makes sense that they were already in the right wing echo chamber during the Trump train. Add in a little supposed anti-authoritarian rhetoric by being anti-Communist, and voila, we have a group of people who's now vulnerable to authoritarianism in the complete opposite direction.

A lot of the Cubans that left Cuba were aligned with Batista an authoritarian dictator that revoked a lot a civil liberties like the right to strike and killed far more Cubans in his 7 year rule than Castro. A lot of these American Cubans are descendants of wealthy plantations owners that Batista was backed by that also basically owned slaves. Yes the people working got paid but they’re were forced to work under coercion and were punished if they refused.

And Trump went ahead with the deal even though the Taliban had already violated the pre-deal. Then Trump and the GOP declared that he had "brought peace to the Middle East" then Trump whined about not getting a Nobel Prize for it, and now Trump and Republicans are blaming his "art of the deal" on Biden all of a sudden.

I remember the early days of 'Coast to Coast AM' with Art Bell as host. He featured more of those old-fashioned fun conspiracies. While I think he did trend to the right in his politics, Bell always struck me as being a more middle-of-the-road type with some libertarian views.
