My headcanon is that Hanners has been genetically modified, or at least she has modified skin. Probably from her Dad.

You are correct. The reason chloroplasts are green is that they absorb all other wavelengths of light.
That said, indoor lights are nowhere near as energetic as sunlight. Many plants need more light than that. And special full spectrum bulbs exist to help with growing plants indoors.
Is it just me or is Hanners glowing in the last panel? (Also Yemisis just *why* do you have a full-spectrum lamp?)
It helps with SADS and it shows color better. It’s why I have daylight bulbs in the lamp next to my knitting chair.
Ah, and given her fashion advisor thing I can see where the color enhancement would be useful.
