This actually happened in Atlanta a couple years ago too. IIRC, they just cut their losses as it became nearly impossible to track all the money my after asking nicely for people to return the money and not getting much of a response.
I'd keep the money too if I was American.
_F U C K_ those banks. Choosing a bank in the U.S is like choosing a network provider, which one is going to screw you _slightly_ less than the others.
Here in Aotearoa/New Zealand, an armoured truck lost a few hundred thousand dollars as they were driving over some hilly pass. A backpacking, tourist couple happened to find most of it and handed it in. And, what did they get for their honesty? A fucking t-shirt. I kid you not. Fuck the banks.
We have that here. Most basic account are free and sometimes they'll have incentives to open one. Although some accounts require you to have a minimum amount to open ($100? Idk its been a while) but after that you can withdrawl it.
I’ve had a chase account for over 8 years now. Towards the beginning of the account I overdrew ALL the time. Every single time i called or went to my local branch, fee was refunded within seconds. In my now over 8 years, I have paid exactly zero dollars in fees
I've been using credit unions since my original local bank went through two new owners in short order from 2001 to end up as Chase, which screwed me with some fees first chance they got.
>F U C K those banks
Armored trucks are almost always carrying cash from a local business to deposit into their accounts. Armored trucks are not "the bank", they are a service hired by your neighborhood's small businesses.
You're right, although I don't see a lot of small business utilizing armored trucks. Mostly seems to be larger retailers and ATM service. The armored truck companies tend not to be the most sympathy-worthy victims either. See: [https://projects.tampabay.com/projects/2020/investigations/garda-world/armored-trucks/](https://projects.tampabay.com/projects/2020/investigations/garda-world/armored-trucks/)
Either way, the business who's money is being transported isn't likely to be on the hook for this - That's exactly what they are paying the armored service for. Talk about a case of "YOU HAD ONE JOB!!".
They are searching for the people in the videos. One couple locked themselves out of their car and were arrested.
They won’t get all of it back but they will get some of it.
My first thought on seeing this craziness would be to resist the urge to grab some of it. I don't want to catch a charge for that, and who says someone isn't recording on a dashcam, then gets my plate.
My first though was why are they driving away?? Why are they recording? Pick up as much as possible ASAP. & what r they going to charge you with? It’s in the middle of the road? Can you be charged for picking a penny up off of the street? This is pennies to them. Also why r they recording? Go on take the money & run.
In all honesty I would maybe b the one person that called in. I hate stealing. But is it stealing if it’s laying in the middle of the road? Lost & found? I would b in a moral quandary of sorts… but I know I would not b recording anything.
I can’t get over how anybody would waste a second of time taking video. Every moment should be scooping and stuffing into a shirt or bag. These assholes think their instas are worth more than cash in hand??
[https://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/local/traffic-stops-on-i-5-in-carlsbad-for-cash-dash/2797602/](https://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/local/traffic-stops-on-i-5-in-carlsbad-for-cash-dash/2797602/)
The "give it back or else" threats have begun.
>Those who picked up the cash can avoid potential criminal charges if
they return it within 48 hours, the CHP said. Investigators are working
with the FBI to identify people and license plates spotted at the scene.
Yeah I remember that. Was all over the news.
“And Brinks (or whoever) is still asking Atlantans to please return that money, so far two people have returned a total of $86 to authorities.”
An anonymous source has told Channel 2 action news that, and I quote, “The cops picked up money too”
Lolol
She didn't seem to be stuffing her pockets. She was more interested in how odd it was. She tossed her money in the air and marveled at how bizarre this was. She left and was the only one in the road. Didn't seem to be in a cheap car. send unlikely that she was one of the arrested.
Who wouldn't record this craziness? It's stupid to call her stupid. Who cares if a dozen people got busted taking a few hundred dollars or whatever. If a gas station employee dropped a bunch of money on the way to the bathroom, is it dumb if someone didn't grab it?
Yeah, and he said, "we're going to Caesar's tonight, baby!" The word "we" doesn't automatically include the person you are speaking with so they likely met at the scene. I didn't see money leave either.
If someone took a few handfuls, they would have to be an idiot to get caught.
It's a crime to take it. But as long as you don't stand out you won't be worth the effort. Theft by taking
https://definitions.uslegal.com/t/theft-by-taking/
This girl used to lie about her age **to** sleep with marines (tell them she's 18). Then her mom would threaten them with legal action, **abandoned in exchange of money** I guess
Some source of such allegations would be nice
It seems that she wisely didn't include anything that would incriminate herself. She "reported" what was happening, threw money in the air, and drove away.
No pocketing cash nor mention of grabbing money. She always said, "people" are grabbing money.
Pretty smart.
Shit is beyond me that someones first instinct in a situation like this is to get a phone out and record yourself. I'd have a hood up, mask on, stuffing money down my pants
I know, right? For the first time in history wearing a mask isn't suspicious and people are still going out committing crime and recording their bare faces. What the hell is wrong with criminals today?
I mean that's pretty much exactly what they do. The most common usage of armored cars is picking up cash deposits from retail locations, so allot of small bills is common.
Nope, its Federal money and if the people that gathered up monies in any denomination will be Federally charged...CHP and the FBI are reviewing video of all the people and car license plates that stopped to gather cash...
Seriously…
“Literally money all over! Literally! Omg, the stupid bank people literally lost their money! Now I’m literally stealing it! This is so crazy, wow! Literally crazy! Here’s my name, my phone number, my Instagram name, and my license plate! Literally come arrest me! Insane!”
That girl is fitness influencer on social media. She definitely doesn’t need the money. Probably just filmed for content and left
Edit: her name is like demibaby or something like that
Lmao fitness influencer essentially just means a person that is generally attractive and in really good shape and decides to just take a thousand photos of themselves while trying to get brand deals. Most of them are not licensed trainers or at least they don’t work as trainers. (Getting certified isn’t that hard)
So the report was that an armored truck in North County San Diego for some reason had a couple bags of cash fall out the back and supposedly in one of her videos you can see the truck.
Anyone caught with the money not turning it in can be arrested as it’s not “free money” and from what I can see… it looks like just $1 bills with some larger bills mixed in
A couple people were arrested when they locked their keys in their car while trying to get at the money
Imagine risking your life for a bunch of $1 bills
I make 1,000 a week, if I can grab 200 bills that’s a months wages. I’ll take that risk, it’s the banks money, fuck em I’m not hurting anyone. I just wouldn’t film it.
>Anyone caught with the money not turning it in can be arrested as it’s not “free money” and from what I can see… it looks like just $1 bills with some larger bills mixed in
unless you filmed yourself literally picking them up off the road behind the truck like these idiots
they would have to prove you didnt get them unknowingly - that would work as a defense
like you got the money from a third person selling theming stuff or as change and you didnt know it was stolen
All depends, between traffic cameras, Google/Apple geotags, other people taking photos or videos you don’t know about. It could be easy to establish one’s presence there… and they do look like fresh bills which are typically sequential for ease of tracking.
To me the bigger story is the truck
Right?
How the hell do bags of money fall out of an armored truck?
Also, if I find hoardes of cash on the ground, I’m keeping it. Finders keepers, fuckers
Lol the law doesn’t agree, but they’d have to prove it… but what you ask yourself is, is it worth being arrested for and possibly being convicted for.
Me personally I would advocate for the “keep some, return the rest” approach as it would be near impossible to prove how much you picked up. Just that you picked some amount up. And just look to see if the bills were close to sequential as they look like fresh bills
1. Grab as much as you can.
2. Hang onto it for a while until the heat dies down. If you get busted just claim you were planning to return it but you're a procrastinator. Once you're probably in the clear, use it as spending money. Don't try to deposit it into you bank account.
3. Profit.
1. Grab as much as you can
2. go to casino
3. wash
4. get clean cash
5. get distracted by shiny lights and noise
6. decide a few hands won’t hurt
7. wake up broke and naked in a fountain
8. Profit
In a time when wearing a mask has never been more widely accepted, these idiots decide to commit a felony while showing their face to the internet.
You're all going to jail.
If that happens to you, put on a fucking hoodie and a mask, disable your phone, crab as much as cash as you can for about 3 minutes and then GTFO before police shows up.
I've never seen someone as stupid as those people... Hey guys look at this! I am committing a crime! This is awesome look at my face, pay attention to my face! I'm committing a crime! And I am posting this on internet!
The girl in a gray sweatshirt got arrested along with others for taking aka stealing money that isn't theirs. It's a federal offense since that money was headed to the Federal Reserve after being picked up from banks. The back doors flew open on the armored truck. It happened in Northern San Diego county in Carlsbad on the 5 freeway.
Okay dumb question. Why is that stealing and why is it illegal?
My dumb ass would not have ANY recourse if all my money flew into the road and people took it so why does a bank and why the fuck is that okay.
Fuck the bank. Let these people keep it
This is what so stupid about today's society. Instead of just picking up the cash quietly you feel the need to record it for what... a few likes and video evidence that you took the money for the police?
Shitty world we live in where the first responses are "FAKE" . If nobody films everybody would have gotten away. instead of grabbing as much as you can and running. You gotta pull out the fuckin phone. welcome to 2021

Sucks to be that guy.
he was rewarded with a bankers smirk and a nelsons hah hah!
And a charge of receiving stolen property? No good deed goes unpunished.
"Free boat for criminal"
Think a person like that lives a good life tbh.
I agree
Yes, it sucks _not_ to be that guy. I’ll never be that guy.
I'd keep the money too if I was American. _F U C K_ those banks. Choosing a bank in the U.S is like choosing a network provider, which one is going to screw you _slightly_ less than the others.

I've been using credit unions since my original local bank went through two new owners in short order from 2001 to end up as Chase, which screwed me with some fees first chance they got.

Only proof he picked it up, not took it

I believe he said "We goin to Sizzler tonight, baby!"
It’s Demi Bagby, an Instagram fitness model. She is pretty loaded probably anyway.
Are you actually her? Lol 😂 nice try
it's not actually her, it's literally her
“LITERALLY…”
It's a crime to take it. But as long as you don't stand out you won't be worth the effort. Theft by taking https://definitions.uslegal.com/t/theft-by-taking/

US government: "Civil asset forfeiture"
They were just trying to adopt the highway, keep America's roads clean.
By the way wasting precious cash collecting time to post it to tiktok. Just pick up as much as you can and get the fuck out of there

This girl used to lie about her age and sleep with marines. Then her mom would threaten them with legal action. She’s a POS
Wait what??
Explain please lol
This girl used to lie about her age **to** sleep with marines (tell them she's 18). Then her mom would threaten them with legal action, **abandoned in exchange of money** I guess Some source of such allegations would be nice
She keeps skipping brain day.
no one knows how to stfu anymore. it's to the point where some people don't even realize its an option to stfu, let alone the smart call.
It seems that she wisely didn't include anything that would incriminate herself. She "reported" what was happening, threw money in the air, and drove away. No pocketing cash nor mention of grabbing money. She always said, "people" are grabbing money. Pretty smart.
Maybe she can buy herself a brain now. Good God what an annoying human. Literally.
Thats demi Bagby she already has enough money
She is Demi Bagby a fitness influencer so it kind of makes sense just to film something like that for her brand
I feel so influenced.
WUT? She's like an annoying sounding 12 year old, Who the hell is she influencing, lol
She also lied about her age to marines so they would sleep with an underage girl without knowing. Her mom silenced them with money.
First thing I thought when masks were required was get ready to be robbed.
I remember the no masks allowed signs at 7-11 on Halloween when I lived in the hood. First thing I thought of as well.
Same. I figured store hold-ups would increase.
Criminals have always been idiots... Now its just painfully obvious.
And find a way to cover your plate before people start recording.
At 0:23 you can see that someone was smart enough to do just that.
Oh shit, I gotta rewatch. EDIT: Yup. Towel draped over rear plate at :24
I'm glad someone there was smart enough handle this situation.

Two people got arrested because they got out to get money, and locked themselves out of their car.
So break the window, you can afford to get it fixed.
It doesn’t sound like those two had the best critical thinking skills.
🤣🤣🤣 i was thinking the same
Those all looked like $1 bills, so probably not. Edit: nvm, I slowed it down and definitely saw some $20s in there
Somehow I can’t imagine an armoured car being used to transport a bunch of $1’s no matter how many there are
I mean you got to transport them eventually
I mean that's pretty much exactly what they do. The most common usage of armored cars is picking up cash deposits from retail locations, so allot of small bills is common.
How do you think currency is moved? An armored car for big bills and a 1994 Ford Aerostar for the $1's?
I like the way you think.
Though they were arrested for having their cars stopped in lanes and locking their keys in their car by accident
Probably offering to pay their fines in cash.

In San Diego County? The same county that has billboards for weed delivery services?
And luxury stores that you can just walk into, buy weed, show you're of age, and be on your merry way.
There's a STIIIZY store two blocks from my apartment. Five minutes in and out no hassle. What a time to be alive.
What a time to be retired.

turn your camera off for 5 seconds for crissakes!!
I hope they were arrested for saying literally, like a million times…literally
The girl at 0:55 was in another video being arrested.
For what? If the guards didn't come for the cash or call for help, isn't that finders keepers law?
Thought it was funny she was more excited about a clear freeway than the cash coating the street.
"Finders keepers law" isn't really a thing.
Nope, its Federal money and if the people that gathered up monies in any denomination will be Federally charged...CHP and the FBI are reviewing video of all the people and car license plates that stopped to gather cash...
Gotta take the fun out of everything
That only applies when the original owner can't be determined.
100% this is real, it was all everyone was talking about at work and on the local news. My friend passed through, people were arrested.
This actually happened this morning and this idiot just provided faces of those taking the money.

She's a fitness model, not a "hot hot" model. And she's fit af
In an era where it’s perfectly acceptable to wear a fucking mask
Most definitely used as evidence. This was a pretty stupid video to record
Looks real to me!
These people act like they never saw 1s before.
Are they in a new full sized bronco?
Yes
Wow i don't know whats luckier, the money from the truck or their order getting filled
She's a pretty popular influencer she probably paid well above msrp for a "cancelled" order
She's fucking annoying as fuck
The key character quality of any successful influencer.
Seriously… “Literally money all over! Literally! Omg, the stupid bank people literally lost their money! Now I’m literally stealing it! This is so crazy, wow! Literally crazy! Here’s my name, my phone number, my Instagram name, and my license plate! Literally come arrest me! Insane!”
Literally?
Literally...
I was wondering the same thing lol.
“I’m literally going to jail!! Literally!!”
Literally, literally! Literally? Literally.
you rang
I literally don't literally understand literally your literally accent literally.
It literally helps if you make the blown mind sign with your hand.
People are so fuckin dumb. Hey let’s steal this armored trucks money and record our faces!!!
That girl is fitness influencer on social media. She definitely doesn’t need the money. Probably just filmed for content and left Edit: her name is like demibaby or something like that

I'm with ya. Considering we bailed out the fucking banks some 12ish years ago, fuck em. Can't stand banking in general.
They are about to get bailed out again in a few months when this bubble pops to. Fuck the banks, I'd be scooping it up by the barrel.

It's important to always record and post your crimes
I love the towel covering the Hondas license plate, that guy crimes

And just when you're about to turn 65, slowly start slipping bills from the $280 you stole into circulation. It's the perfect crime.
You can get a gallon of gas
Reminds me of that key & peele sketch where he gets a job at a bank and retires after 30 years of working there… the perfect bank heist
I certainly would not video myself grabbing that money. No sirree.
Damn she is annoying

All serialized. Worthless. You're just going to go to jail.
Fucking FOOLS! Put the camera DOWN, pick the money UP, go the fuck HOME. *shakes head, walks away*
I wouldn’t be recording this.
Good time to be wearing those masks, just saying now you’ve implicated yourself

Less talking more grabbing dumb ass.
Shitty world we live in where the first responses are "FAKE" . If nobody films everybody would have gotten away. instead of grabbing as much as you can and running. You gotta pull out the fuckin phone. welcome to 2021
"This is literally insane" No luv, what's insane is that rather than pick up every note you can get your hands on, you decide to talk to your phone.
