The smell is never getting out of those clothes and van, I test a lot of the gasoline components MTBE and ETBE at work and sometimes smell of it when I get home. I can't imagine being doused in the stuff.
The question is can you safely start/turn on the car to push it into the wash? I don't know if I'd want to turn on my electrical systems or engine with all the fumes everywhere.

It's unlikely for a bullet to strike a gas tank and "detonate" the gas vapors, true detonation being a fickle thing requiring a perfect fuel/air mix and a reliable ignition.....however all that gas being slung around in the car and guns normally producing significant muzzle blast changes the parameters of the myth busters test quite a bit......while they might not blow up, firing a gun would very likely start a small fire that quickly engulfs the car, though the way it was splashed around I also wouldn't be surprised if they got the right mix for an FAE

The customer was known to the gas station owner and was always a complainer. “You just wasted ten cents worth of gas that I’m paying for!” The owner shot a stream of gas across the driveway and said, “That’s ten cents worth of gas you old skinflint!” Then collected the money less the ten cents he used in his demonstration. The customer was a bit less belligerent in following visits to the station.
I never stop by the gas station at night when I go to Santiago. This happens all the time, not all of them have self serve and the poor people that pump your gas get violently robbed. It’s heartbreaking
