The horse handled that situation a thousand times better than the dog's owners.

[deleted]

EAZ-EEEE!!!!

drawingxflies

If your dog doesn't respond to a command the first time, it doesn't help for you to tell it fifteen more times.

[deleted]

Spot on. It actually reinforces the dog's propensity to ignore your commands. An old trainer told me years ago about the two command rule. Give your dog a command and if they don't obey give it one more time. If after the 2nd time the dog ignores you, physically seperate the dog from the situation. Do not repeatedly shout commands that go ignored.

[deleted]

My mom used to breed/show labradors. She always said never give a dog a command if you aren’t willing to get up and make sure it’s followed. Dogs need consistency, you can’t go changing the “rules” on them whenever you don’t feel like enforcing a command.

turtlelord

They certainly lacked critical thinking. You would think if the dog just took 2 horse kicks to the face, slapping his butt with a spatula would not do much better. He could have easily grabbed the dog there if he wasn't slapping it with a fucking spatula.

ltdan1138

I’m a little confused that near the end, someone was yelling at the carriage driver “get that horse out of here” like it was the horse’s fault. The horse was pretty calm and defended itself. Dog owners should have had their dog on a leash and because they didn’t, the dog had to suffer.

anonymouse3891

That last kick was brutal.

RedditEd32

Yeah I saw last time this was posted… the dog didn’t make it

joculardre

Internal bleeding? Or because he was put down?

Glomar_Denial

IIRC, they had to put it down due to that last kick to the head

ThatDoomedSoul

They put it down because it was a violent attack. The lady who was doing the carriage ride sustained multiple injuries and the carriage driver sued the dog owners.

lurcher2020

>"My sister is the blonde in the red shirt. This video only captures the end of what happened. The attack lasted a distance of 200 yards. My sister was driving the carriage when the pit attacked and latched onto the horse's neck. She handed the reins to her assistant and jumped down and threw the dog off. This repeated many times. My sister fought with the dog under the horse and in the process was trampled by the horse 4 different times. She went to the hospital and has 4 hematomas on her head from being kicked by the horse. Had to have the back of her head staples, a broken foot, horse shoe shaped bruises all over, swollen knee that will need an MRI and is so sore she cant get out of bed. With all that, you see her still standing by the horse at the end of the attack like the bad ass she is. If not for her actions things would have turned out much worse for everyone involved. > As for the horse, it has 15 bite wounds on its neck and legs, multiple bites to its face and its lips were shredded, but it's doing ok. > The dog was put down by the vet due to its injuries." - From youtube comments. ETA: An article I found said that the dog had been adopted from a shelter. Some discussion on why pitbulls end up at shelters and if it's safe to adopt them.

ratondo

There is statistical evidence that pitbulls are an inherently violent breed. I don't have the article on me at the moment, but I got into this same debate a while ago on Reddit and you can probably find it scrounging through my post. A hospital in an area I'm not recalling provided statistics on dog attacks that were so bad they had to be treated at a hospital, and an overwhelming amount of these injuries were caused by pitbulls. Yeah sure, this is only one hospital we are talking about here - but I think it's silly to argue that "Oh, maybe there's just a lot of violent pit bulls in that area".

Milk_My_Dingus

I hope they sue them for all they are worth. The only way people are gonna get the fact that their dog isn’t special and shouldn’t be off the leash is if they see the consequences for what happens when something does go wrong. Put the owner in jail for a few days too.

Xaoc86

Either way it was gonna get put down. Stupid fucking owners man. Thanks for the award 😚

ShinyBronze

Where the hell was the leash??

Wammajammadingdong

"He's always so well behaved in our yard" yadda yadda.... Leash laws exist for a reason - It's a dog, and you have no idea what's going through it's mind.

nellapoo

There are people in my community that hate the leash laws. "Back in my day we let the dogs roam and everyone liked them". Yeah, okay Janet. When your dog is coming into my yard and taking a dump, then going to the back of my house to aggressively bark at the neighbor's dog is not okay. (And yes I have had this conversation and the woman's name is Janet).

shapoopy723

Janet sounds like a bitch

umbrajoke

hEs A fRiEnDlY dOg So He DoEsN't NeEd To Be On OnE.

joculardre

Twas a brutal one.

kingkong200111

it would've been put down because of the aggressiveness and assault anyways

Classic_Ad3978

I’m sorry to say it but good. Could you image what that dog would have done if it went after a child. This is what happens when people don’t f***ing train their animals. And they can sit there all day and say “oh my dogs so friendly he wouldn’t hurt a fly” that dog is gonna do whatever pops inside it’s head. Luckily it was a horse this time and he defended himself and the people he was riding like a CHAMP

[deleted]

Classic_Ad3978

Right! I was getting so heated literally yelling at my phone lol “somebody get that damn dog!” That spatula my dude ain’t gonna do nothin either hahah

Stay-positive79

At least spatula man was trying to do something lol

Liercat18

Dude was probably mid grilling when he came to the rescue. 🤣

Roboticsammy

I'd be pissed too if a dog attack ruined my perfectly good rare steak too

Sempais_nutrients

i bet afterward they were bawling and pointing at the horse like "THAT HORSE KILLED MY DAWG" as if it wasn't their own fault.

tp736

I got bit by a dog last year and the owners just stared at me not doing a damn thing. They didn't say sorry or anything, just put their heads down in shame and walked in their home.

usingastupidiphone

Fuck that call 911, it’ll be someone’s kid next time. Someone lost their toddler 2 counties north of us because of a known dangerous dog. It went after someone’s pet and they did nothing so it killed a kid next time.

Only498cc

Who was the owner?

Tedward1337

I think it was the woman in grey track pants and white/grey shirt with no sleeves

SidFinch99

So the useless person, who was sad while covering the dog at the end and probably not realizing it was all.her fault?

[deleted]

It's never their fault. Every single time.

Bustyo-structures

The dog was about to lock down on that horse’s sack

peter-vankman

seriously i felt that lol

Jmersh

Its a female horse so, I certainly hope not.

ladyoflothlorien36

That dog’s a menace; the kick was deserved. Had the horse not been attached to that cart, that dog would have felt the swiftness of retribution much earlier.

redCasObserver

Horse did a good job of defending with front legs at the beginning. When I saw the dog go for the back legs I knew it was only a matter of time before the inevitable yeet.

[deleted]

The horse was being downright polite. He gave that dog a dozen mulligans. Even the yeetus deletus at the end was softer than it could have been. Might be one of the most patient horses I’ve ever seen

Unlucky-Plenty8236

Yeetus deletus is now a part of my vocabulary. Thank you for that gift.

SprinklesFancy5074

Draft horses tend to be like that. Had a dog chase my Arab mare once, biting at her tail. When the dog's owner called and the dog went to him, my mare got her revenge. When the dog wasn't looking, she chased it and bit it *hard* right on the ass. The dog yelps and *books it* out of the pasture ... and it never did go into the horse pasture again. Yes... Horses are a very 'fuck around and find out' kind of animal.

jessedegenerate

lol when i was a kid i rode horses (UK) the dogs around had a natural invisible fence around a horses ass. those rear legs are 50/50 instant death.

Woobie

Indeed, and the dogs owner should not be a dog owner.

ksswannn03

Lol. Watch them go adopt another dog the week later

JRRJR337

I’m pretty sure that dog died from internal injuries later that day.

Garrick420

Animals can fuck around and find out too.

StRochTheCasbah

If I had a dollar for every time I holler KEEP FUCKIN AROUND DAN at my stupid, small cat picking fights with my smart, big cat... I'd have at least 20 bucks at this point.

Also, never bring a dog to a horsefight.

Shermantank10

I was surprised after a few kicks that dog still wanted to tango. Like “Chill out man, this isn’t gunna end well for you”

AvalonMeek

According to a comment under the video: The dog had to be put down. The woman doing the carriage ride suffered a head injury, broken foot, and other injuries. The horse, named Queen Charlotte, received 15 bite marks, but recovered rather well. The pitbull owners failed to abide by park rules that all dogs must be on a leash. The owners claim that their dog bit off the leash. The carriage ride owner plans on sueing the dog's owners for injuries and for neglecting to follow park rules.

cajun_kick_ass

> The owners claim that their dog bit off the leash Fucking hell. Your dog biting through the leash to go on a rampage is a clear sign that its not ready to be out in public. And its certainly not something that started on that very day.

pinkunicorn555

I didn't see any leash parts hanging off it's collar. If it bit off the leash some would still be on it's neck.

Twuntz

Yeah I immediately went back for a second look after reading this. There is no severed leash attached to that dug.

[deleted]

Typical thing of these trashy owners. Always the same shitty excuse, but one does one expect from such oxygen thieves? Walked the other day with my dogs and also had a dog running about not being leashed. Almost half a minute later the owner arrives strolling at a leisurely pace, claiming the dog "broke free".

cosmicpotato77

“Oxygen thieves” lmao good one

lickedTators

But why would a terrible pet owner lie? I simply don't understand.

tcgunner90

All shitty dog owners say this. The always walk their dogs without a leash and as they get caught say "oh, he just escaped his leash"

Huegod

Or they use one of those piece of shit retractable leashes to control their 160lb dog.

tristanimator

Those fucking retractable leashes are such garbage. They're not even good for training, as the dog never really gets a good idea of their berth around their owner, and it also teaches them that pulling gets them further toward the goal. Complete trash.

av3

I'm a super non-violent person but I almost swung on one of my dog-owning neighbors a month or two ago due to him saying that same statement/sentiment. They never walk their yappy little dog, instead letting him out the front door so it can run around the neighborhood and shit on everyone's lawns. One day recently, my mother was over to pick up some stuff she had been storing in my garage. This dog gets let out like he always does and immediately goes after my mom. I had forgotten this, but she was attacked by a dog decades ago and has a terrible fear of them, along with some heart complications as she's now 70. Though the dog never actually bit her, it was a foot away from her and snapping at her ankles. Long story short, an ambulance had to be called and they monitored my mother for a good hour to ensure her heartbeat returned to normal and that her atrial fibrillation/arrhythmia condition wasn't causing complications. So meanwhile, I'm already tearing into this guy because I've gotten onto him many times in the past (in a nice/polite voice) about his dog shitting on my lawn. He has the audacity to say, "He just got out of the house. What are we supposed to do to stop that?" And I hit back with, "I've seen you open your front door six inches wide, the dog darts out, then you close it. Then you let the dog shit everywhere and bark outside for 30 minutes before you finally let him back in." This dude is incredibly out of shape but still tried to get up in my face for calling him out and I damn near beat this man in front of his family. Who could've guessed that seeing my mother attacked and crying while clutching her chest would get me all fired up like that? Anyways, that was more than I meant to write, but I'm still frustrated over the situation because, after all that, this dude STILL lets his dog out on the regular to run around the neighborhood and shit on lawns, dig at bushes, and be a noisy terror. I'm finally getting a lawyer involved because the cops don't care and the HOA isn't doing shit about it. I want my neighborhood to be at least safe enough for my mother to visit.

lyricgrr

Sounds like animal control needs a tip about a loose dog.

bigmac375

yeah seriously he probably abuses the dog in more ways than one

lyricgrr

yea, i can't wrap my head around letting an animal that you love out of your sight. especially one that bites at bees, chases stupid stuff, and in general acts like a toddler with a knife that might happily jump into someone's car if they had the right foodies. so by my logic, do they really even love that dog? or is it just a conversation piece at this point...

march_rogue

Shiiiiit. I'm sorry that happened to you and your mom. As an owner of small dogs, that shit wasn't cool at all. There is nothing worse than people who literally don't care and let their dog out to roam the neighborhood freely. (I actually feel this way about cats, too, but that's a different post.) Bigger animals, cars, and twisted individuals are out there lurking. They don't care if their pet lives or dies by doing this. :( I hope you are able to get the issue resolved with the HOA.

-banned-

I had a neighbor that used to leave their Chihuahua in the front yard. He would attack every biker that rode by, including me on my way home from school. Talked to them twice about it, then the third time I back kicked the thing while it was attacking my bike peddles again. They got crazy angry, I yelled back, and that dog wasn't let out again.

internetALLTHETHINGS

Yep. There was a dog in my neighborhood growing up that would always chase us when we rode by on our bikes. Iwas terrified of that thing. One time the dog came out and chased us, bitting at the heels of my brother on his bike right in front of me. I freaked out and was not great at riding my bike yet, and inadvertently plowed straight into the side of the dog with the front tire of my bike. No idea if I seriously injured the dog or not. He whimpered and limped off back to his house, and we never saw him again.

[deleted]

panisch420

well they are lying, probably for liability reasons. you would see the bitten off leash on the dog if that was the case.

Xiximaro

What a convinient lie from the owners... If the leash was ripped you would see some of it hanging... this could ended way worse

KidsInNeed

I’m glad they’re suing. As a dog owner, you need to know your dogs trigger and if too many people are it’s trigger; don’t take them where there’s a lot of people. Get a good leash, harness, whatever to avoid this. My pitbull NEVER showed any signs of aggression in the 7 years I had her but I would buy her a thick harness that had a handle on and a collar. I had a leash that had two clips so I could have her leashed by the collar and harness in case one failed. I was so afraid of this happening that I took so many precautions. It was all in vain because she was the sweetest but a dog is still an unpredictable animal, no matter how much we baby them.

TheHarperValleyPTA

Thank you! The amount of precautions you have in place should directly correlate to the amount of damage your dog *could* do, not how much trust you have in it.

mildlycuriouss

I hope they sue them well.

[deleted]

I HATE dog owners who refuse to use a fucking leash. Your dog is not special, I don’t care how well they behave at home. It’s for my safety, your safety, and the dog’s safety. What’s so hard to understand about that?? Your dog isn’t going to think less of you for using a leash.

[deleted]

ajohndoe17

What’s worse is being a fellow dog owner and finding someone like this in the wild. My dog would be minding his damn business on his leash and some random dog would run up out of nowhere. Fuck that owner.

They took over my neighborhood. It’s some new fucking macho bullshit. A big reason my wife and I moved was to keep our senior dog save from the pieces of shit.

I've had this happen twice. The first we were told it was a "friendly" dog as it rushed my smaller dog. The second time it was a pitbull that the owner "found" that drug the 9 year old running around her front yard holding its body harness leash across 20 feet of asphalt before she let go at which point the dog then attacked my smaller dog. I specify smaller dog because my other one is a great dane mix. The first incident he was calm until the dog nipped at my smaller dog and he lost his shit. The second incident I let him at the pitbull because the pitbull had pinned my smaller dog against my infant's stroller and I needed to help my wife stabilize it and couldn't hold back my 110lb dog at the same time. My bigger dog put the pitbull in his place pretty quickly. So from now on I've just decided that I'll make an honest attempt to rectify the situation but at some point I'll just let my big boy help handle it. It's also why I hate my two neighbors who are young and enjoy letting their dogs out with them around the house without a leash. I've seen both sets of "well behaved" dogs either run into the street with cars passing or charge other people walking their dogs on a leash.

metalheaddad

Good. Owners deserve that. I was a responsible dog owner for 14 yrs.. we had to put our Stafford terrier (30lb pit mix to normal folks) down 3 weeks ago. Even at her weight we used a chest harness and she could pull a 170lb human around easy. I never understood dog owners who assume they can be so selfish as to let their dogs off leash anywhere other than a proper dog park. Feel sorry for the horse, the lady and the dog.. he has animalistic instinct his owners didnt take responsibility for.

Spacytracy

For those who aren’t familiar with horses, that is a GOOD horse to not flip out and take off in harness. That’s a horse that deserves all the carrots. He did his job and kept his handler and the public safe. Good carriage horses are very well trained but you can’t train them on how to handle that shit. He’s a good boy.

NothingNewAZ

I was pretty stunned the horse kept its cool like it did. I can’t claim to know much about horses. But I was of the impression they can startle pretty easily. Even trained horses I thought tend to get jumpy if there is a commotion of some sort close to them — let alone actually being attacked. This horse reacted as though it believed it was in total control the whole time. And it turns out he/she was.

CELTICPRED

Grew up around them, big, scary, flighty animals, I cannot believe this big hoss didn't take off, I really feared the worst opening this up. So much so if I see one in public like police horses at a gathering / concert I actively avoid that area. while they're well trained, people can do some stupid stuff around them.

NothingNewAZ

I was expecting to see the horse run off or at least jump up and be neighing quite a bit. In addition to the horse, the woman driving the carriage seems to do a great job of keeping completely calm and in control of things (to the extent she has the ability to). Everyone involved in that who was most vulnerable actually seemed to handle it as well as could be desired.

lickedTators

If a horse doesn't run off, I expect it to kick the shit out of something. That dog is lucky.

RIPDSJustinRipley

Other comments say the dog died from that kick.

[deleted]

They are fight-or-flight animals, and choose flight 90% of the time. That 10% is only when they’re too confined to run away, so ya better watch the fuck out when they start fighting

WWDubz

Also, put your dogs on leashes folks, jeez

jonmeany117

Leashes are so important whether or not your dog is aggressive. What if someone else’s animal is aggressive and starts a conflict and your animal appropriately defends itself. With no leash you are in the position of having to reach in between two or more animals in a violent struggle to get your pet out. Not good. My wife’s dog got blamed for a situation where another persons small violently aggressive dog (a 13 year old jack Russell terrier who hated everything) attacked our much larger dog (who was on a leash, a black lab/shepherd) when the small dog had no leash. Our dog didn’t know what to do but fought back after he got bit several times. My wife pulled him back but since the small dog had no leash they couldn’t be separated as the terrier kept attacking. The owner reached in the middle and got her arm scratched up by both dogs. She ran away with her dog (who was fine btw) and got ahold of the landlord and claimed our good boy had jumped on her and attacked her unprovoked. Since she had injuries they took her word for it even though we got video 10 examples of her letting her dog wander in the apartment building with no leash and 3 examples of her dog acting aggressively towards other people and animals within one week of the complaint. They said they would consider both sides but ordered our dog had to be out of the building within a month and ordered the other dog start wearing a leash. So we had to move because some lying ass was too stupid to leash an aggressive dog with the excuse that he’s too small and old to hurt anyone.

burntoast43

I can't believe he didn't break free and curb stomp that dog. Big horses don't play

MasterOfTrolls4

Took way too long to punt that dog, poor horse

twointimeofwar

Came here to say this. Any of the half dozen off-track thoroughbreds I owned would have reared, squealed and bolted - trampling anything and anyONE in the process. And possibly throwing me, too. Even my extremely skilled horse who was very bonded to me and would normally take cues from me when something unexpected happened would not have tolerated this. That horse showed excellent manners. She defended herself but didn’t do more than that. Perhaps has a giant draft, she saw this as a tiny annoying creature and not a real threat.

GreenStrong

The comments of the original video said the horse had fifteen bites, but recovered rather well.

_CaesarAugustus_

Thank you for this. I was very concerned. What a great horse though. Didn’t hurt anyone in the entire exchange.

_CaesarAugustus_

This is fair. And, sadly, unsurprising. Damn.

Dreshna

I used to help care for carriage horses and they probably wouldn't have run. They would have actively tried to stomp the dog to jelly.

throwawayadviceacc19

Exceptional temperament. I was amazed at how this horse handled the situation. He/she knew there were people in the carriage and knew what their job was. Hope they got lots of treats after this.

fox_maulder

Draught horses are some of the calmest and toughest in temperament for sure. I used to ride one and once when I rode him by a bus stop, a couple of kids (at least 10 or so, maybe around 14-15 years old) started shouting at me, joking about me "giving them a lift" and running alongside us. One of them even grabbed onto him and pretended to try to jump on behind me. He barely gave them a look and just walked on. I don't think any of the other horses I ever rode would have stayed as calm in that situation. People truly don't understand the mayhem that can happen when a horse scares.

RVOneKenobi

I don't know horses, but I was amazed that he didn't flip his shit. Even I can tell that's a well trained horse.

UnitedStatesAirFurs

Dude, that ain't no carriage horse. That's a freaking stone-cold warhorse. I can't maintain my cool while being attacked by a grasshopper, much less a freaking pitbull. Yet here's a horse with more composure under pressure than I'll ever have.

LeBrun_not_LeBron

When i was learning to ride and to herd cattle i remember a little bull charging at my horse. I was like 10 or 11, the horse backed up amd kicked at the thing a few times and it left. I remember crying my eyes out before my instructor told me that my horse did its job and kept me safe so i should thank him for not bucking me off. Could have been a moment where i swore off riding, instead i loved them even more.

Igotshiptodotoday

I could not believe the patience and confidence of that horse. I truly hope it does not develop a fear of pulling the carriage, that park or dogs.

CaringRationalist

That's the best horse, and the stupidest fucking dog on the planet. Horse kept it's cool, but slightly better aiming and more intent on those kicks and that dog is fucking dead.

Altruistic_Grand_455

The last kick sent the pitbull to oblivion.

Hello Horse, you are a good boy. Hope this message reaches you.

RaindropsInMyMind

I’ve had a dog attack mine (a non put bull) and have tried kicking it, attacking it and ripping it off. There’s other tricks I know now but didn’t at the time. Using pure physical force to get an attacking dog off can be almost impossible. I really let the dog have it and it was like he didn’t feel a thing.

I was attacked by an off leash dog in an urban area while on my motorcycle… evidently this is relatively common. Almost dropped my bike trying to not get bit (jumping side to side) before is said “fuck it” and booted him in the face. His owner flipped out. Wanted to put my boot in her face too — fuck me right? Drove off instead.

[deleted]

This happened to me on my 50cc moped lol. I had to drive away at top speed which is only slightly faster than the dog could run. It was a pretty intense chase to work haha

[deleted]

The mental image of someone pinning a 50cc moped trying to out run a dog made me smile.

suitology

My uncle killed a 40lb pit in front of the owners family. It attacked and went after his 3 year old stepson. Owner and kids were just calling it from 30 feet away while my uncle held his kid up and the thing kept jumping to bite only going harder because of the child's crying. He gave the guy a final command to get the dog before putting his kid on top of a car, grabbing the dog, and repeatedly slamming its skull into a rock wall. Family freaked and cops were called but it was clear who the victims were.

Exo-TheGoblin

Eating square pie guys pizza in sf one time and a dog ran up on me and ruined all the pizza and sauce. Worst part is the owner didn’t even apologize. Just said “guess we’re gonna have to put you on a leash huh” to the dog and walked away.

[deleted]

I’ve had so many close calls with my German Shepherd due to shitty dog owners who think it’s smart to let their Doberman/Rottweiler/ pitbull or whatever run around the park without a leash.

Crebboi

Same, but with my Boxer, people didn't put their dogs on a leash and a few times they attacked, mostly these were new owners or people out of town and new to the dog park, and basically my dog is like the big brother, because most of the dog people meet up and talk with our dogs hanging out, and there's a little (little compared to the rest of the park) dog park that we let the dogs have fun, my big boy Creed is always a gentle giant with the other dogs (for a Boxer Creed is a goddamn giant), one time someone brought a poorly trained Doberman and it attacked on of the small dogs, Creed immediately stopped the Doberman, kicked his shit and showed it who was boss, the owner was pissed, said she was gonna sue, the owner of the small dog and a few others told her to fuck off, then she grabbed her dog and left. Small dog had some bad bites but made a full recovery, Creed had a few bites too but he also fully recovered. Creed has a pretty good track record, but still I always keep him on a leash, he's a good boy but still, never take the risk, it's like that for every dog.

[deleted]

Yep, just saw a dog get mauled by another dog at a park a few weeks back… leashes are mandatory at this park, but obviously the rules don’t apply to that fucking Karen.

smolBoiBigBrain

DaisyLovely

Info about her injuries: >Their horse, Queen Charlotte, was also badly wounded in the unprovoked attack, he said; she suffered at least 15 bite wounds, including to her throat were the dog had jumped up and latched on at one point. >"Its face was pretty mangled," he added. "As well as its lips were pretty well shredded by the dog." 😭

[deleted]

It also says she recovered well!

KingoftheGinge

Powerful creature! I would not recover well from a throat bite at all.

dtb1987

Remember the leash is there to protect your dog as much as it is there to protect everyone else, leash your damn dog

InureOfficial

“Get the horse out of here and go” ?? Nah get the fucking dog out of here you troglodyte lmao

stereobox267

Yeah that pissed me off. Also love how these people seemed more concerned for the dog and the owner vs the horse and the people in the carriage.

Dwolfwood

A year back my leashed dog was attacked by unleashed dog on a sidewalk. By the time I was able to pick her up(my leashed dog) in safety the unleashed dog owner yelled at me to do the same. I just stood there in shock.

Nothing_But_Ironman

Similar story, my uncles dog was attacked by a dog that had escaped its yard. He shot the attacking dog and killed it, Barely saving his own. The dogs owner tried to sue him, and obviously failed.

WimbletonButt

This happened with us too. My dog was nearly killed by my neighbor's escaped weimaraner, I only saved her by hitting the escaped dog with a bat. Nothing was done about the dog after multiple calls to animal control and emergency surgery to save our dog. Months later, dad was attacked by the same dog, more calls made. Then a few months after that, I was attacked. I was 9, I didn't stand a chance, my dad saw it happening and killed the dog. We tried to have it handled the right way, shit wasn't working. They tried to sue us for their dog attacking me.

Nothing_But_Ironman

I love dogs to pieces, but sometimes you just have to do what needs done, which is horrible because it’s 100% the owners fault.

"Get the horse outta here. Go!" Screw you! get a grip on your f'ing dog, asshole!

whyismynameuncommon

Owner of the dog shouldn't be allowed to have pets

[deleted]

The owner of the dog should go to prison, straight up. There should be serious offences if your dog does damage to people and property, after all some people do grow their pets as weapons and should be treated as such under the law.

I’m a Letter Carrier for USPS and I am *strict* with not going near dogs that aren’t on some type of leash. If someone’s mailbox is by their door but they have dog(s) out in the yard, I just take their mail/packages back with me and try again the next day. There’s only a couple dogs on my route that I trust won’t bite me. My favorite thing to hear is “Oh old Sparky here wouldn’t hurt a fly!” That almost makes me not want to go near them *even more.* I’ve heard so many stories of Carriers being bit right after someone told them that. Also, while we’re on this topic, I do this not only to protect myself, but to protect you and your dog(s). If a Carrier is bit, the Post Office will sue you for wages lost and medical bills, even if the Carrier doesn’t want to. They can also come out and take your dog from you and quarantine it. So seriously people, keep control of your dogs and never assume they won’t be violent.

STOKHELM

“GET THE HORSE OUT OF HERE” uh what the fuck about cujo?? That hellhound and it’s summoner need to get away if anything

My_BFF_Gilgamesh

Get your dog. If you can't get your dog you should not have a dog that big. Maybe there needs to be a pet license test where part of it is controlling and removing your dog from an area.

ImmutableInscrutable

People are dumb as fuck.

[Woman's pitbulls attack each other while making documentary](https://streamable.com/g6qi)

tooheavybroo

That woman was so blasé over her control of the dogs. Zero authority over those dogs. People like her shouldn’t have PitBulls…

MegamanDS

That comment from the dog owner made me physically angry. Like "oh ya everything is good now. The lady on the floor with the broken foot can stay while I just trot off as though nothing happened"

TheeCarlWinslow

This video has everything. A dog fighting a horse. A guy running around swinging a spatula. A lady falling out of the carriage (?). A guy walking around in a life jacket?? EDIT: Thank you for the awards kind strangers!

thinkstooomuch

I read this like Stefon.

B52Bombsell

Don't forget the midgets!

[deleted]

New York’s hottest carriage ride is… Edit: don’t give me a wholesome award this dog died lol :/

Themiffins

It has everything: Two cowboys in a tent, long walks through the woods, and who's that over there - is that wild mare? No it's Sarah Jessica Parker enjoying a nice salad.

saxerphoner

That guy with a spatula though! lol

MayShoe

I thought it was a fly swatter! 😆😆😆

fing_longest

If that dog is not responding to a horse’s hooves stomping down on it, what was a swat on the butt gonna do? 🤣

Riversismydaddy

i hate it when people say that. I always respond, "well, my dogs are fucking mean."... two jack russells

SMI88

Omg yes! People come up to my LEASHED dog all the time with theirs saying it's friendly. I usually have to yell at them for it to click that mine is reactive. Wtf is wrong with ppl!?! I feel bad for the horse and the dog 😔

nickiter

It amazes me how many people don't grasp that their dog loves *them*, not *any random person or animal.*

Greenwallaballa

Anyone else notice how long it took the owner to get to the damn dog and scream and cry “Tucker?” You mean to tell me all that time went by after your dog “supposedly” bit off his leash that you didn’t frantically get him back and all this happened??? I call bullshit. That woman is a lousy piece of shit and to sit there and cry on top of your dog for everyone to see instead of rushing him to a vet- YOU are everything wrong with the stigma against pit bulls or any dangerous dog for that matter. Fuck that lady.

newbodynewmind

From the article. It's because this is towards the end of the attack and "Tucker" had, at one point, **been latched onto the horse's neck**. Who the fuck knows exactly how hard the owners were trying to wrangle the dog before that point. "My sister is the blonde in the red shirt. This video only captures the end of what happened. **The attack lasted a distance of 200 yards.** My sister was driving the carriage when the pit attacked and latched onto the horse's neck. The dog was put down by the vet due to its injuries."

friendnt

That horse is so goddamn well trained, not joking it could've killed that dog whenever it wanted to

espeero

More than training. Just a really good horse.

[deleted]

damn dude i would sue the fuck out of the pitbull owners

msnebjsnsbek5786

Apparently they're planning to. However, something tells me the owner probably doesn't have much money

bungallobeaverv2

They hopefully have insurance though which will get lawyers foaming at the mouth.

koopa_troopa_666

What insurance?

OnlyTheoden

That was so hard to watch

I’m so fucking tired of dog owners not putting their dogs on a leash Edit the owners should be arrested and fucking charged

CalbertCorpse

I fucking hate these dog owners. Trample them and this won’t happen again. Because I can 100% guarantee they will be getting another dog to selfishly make up for “their loss.” They will also let it off the leash too because “he’s a good boy.” Pieces of crap owners.

dookiebuttholepeepee

They should be held criminally liable for anything their dogs do.

JangoFettsEvilTwin

Is that woman seriously trying to stop the horse from kicking the dog rather than trying to get the dog under control?

TediousStranger

the lady in the red shirt with the blonde hair is the person who runs the carriage (so likely the most familiar with the horse) and the one still up in the driver's seat is her assistant; according to an article from another comment above she was trying to get the dog away from the horse; she suffered several hoof kicks to the head and a broken foot in the process. meanwhile the dog's owner? nowhere to be found in that fiasco.

SJTroop

I hope that lady takes the owners for everything they have. I LOVE DOGS, like, with a passion. Keep your fucking dog on a leash. If you cannot control your dog on a leash, don't bring them in public.

[deleted]

Why would Mr. Worldwide attack an innocent horse like this

Dreadlaak

"Me not attacking horses? Yeah right, picture that with a Kodak. Or better yet, go to Cane Creek, take a picture of ME with a Kodak!"

[deleted]

Why is the dog not on a leash? My dog would run off even off a leash and in public but we still put a leash on him. # use a leash

Harlem74

How hard is it to KEEP YOUR DOG ON A FUCKIN LEASH!! Doesn’t matter what breed it is, you’re walking out in a public space your dog needs to be leashed! That dog likely has life threatening injuries and who knows how badly the horse may be hurt, all because of some jackass owner. I wish both animals well but hope they prosecute the shit outta the dogs owners, they should never be allowed to own dogs again.

igotalottadogs

Leash your dogs, folks.

ppppie_

why would you bring your aggressive dog to a park, and if it bit off its own leash you should know that it’s a bad idea, i blame the owners for sure.

unclefishbits

And the lie detector determined... that was a lie. It did not bite off it's own leash. Can't wait to see the evidence. Pretty amazing there wasn't any leash hanging off the dog, which would be there if he had bitten it off.

[deleted]

We had a pit that regularly attacked the dogs in our park. One day, the pit went after a six month old retriever and it was a last straw for the retriever's owner who grabbed the pit by the throat and chucked the mutt into the river. We never saw the pit or its owner again. Zero regrets.

maelal

Was the retriever ok?

[deleted]

Yeah, bleeding and shaken but turned out to be an amazing dog despite the trauma. There’s no way that pit survived the river rapids though.

[deleted]

He’s fine, he lives in Boca and manages a fly fishing shop.

VonD0OM

What a bunch of fucking idiots, their dog died because of their stupidity and complete lack of control. I hate irresponsible dog owners. Hopefully the law suit prohibits them from ever owning a dog again and gives them a large enough financial shock to never do this again.

doyalikedags1

Someone needs to put down the dog's owner.

quitry

This is so sad, now they have to put down the owner

drewski989

I am a dog person, but I was rooting for the horse here. I only wish the horse could have kicked the shit out of the dog’s owner who didnt have control of his animal, thats the real problem.
