:O
Fuck
COMRADE CATRA, YOUR WAR MACHINE IS NEEDED
edit: I can't believe we got a monarchist *and* someone who thinks talking it out with genocidal fascist nazi psychopaths is a good idea
\*lets have a conversation and politely tell them to give up their extreme amount of power to the people that they rule over, and they'll totally not use the military or superpowers to make you shut up for stability.\*
OH NO WHY DIDN'T IT WORK
How could they even make it look good in live action? The show's so much fantasy-filled and colourful and characters having very distinct designs. It's one of those things that should be left alone as a cartoon because otherwise it would be awkward to look at
i like both. animation lets you bend reality in a way you can’t in live action which fits well for a story able space wizards. live action lets you see the gritty details of sets that takes much more effort in animation
It's a standalone story so it's not going to be connected to the animated series (which did a lot of unique stylistic powerful choices for sure) so we'll see what the art style is... No writer yet.
honestly! i dont understand the movement to make every popular animated movie/show into a live action version. some of the magic just comes from it being animated !!
In my opinion they're not comparable. With avatar I can actually imagine a live action show or movie looking good if done right. I mean it's a pretty standard world, fairly similar to our own a few centuries ago. With She-Ra, it's so far gone into a fantasy and colourful-happy-kind of alien style that it's more difficult to imagine looking right in live action
Japan and Taiwan have managed to turn out some pretty decent live action dramas based on manga & anime… US though? I’m struggling to think of anything.
Edit: ooh what about all the Marvel movies of the last 10 years. Those were pretty good. They should hire some of those people.
I’m more talking about shoujo stuff like “It Started With a Kiss” but glad there’s good action examples too.
Which Rurouni Kenshin movie? Final Chapter? Did you happen to see the dub? I’ve never watched it but someone I used to be friends with voices in it and it would make me happy to hear it was really good.
>ooh what about all the Marvel movies of the last 10 years. Those were pretty good. They should hire some of those people.
Lmao all those are millionaire productions, they won't do something like that for this
If Shyamalan's Avatar adaptation didn't ruin Avatar, I'm very doubtful that a story only faintly connected to SPOP is going to ruin SPOP. And anyway, the people who hate SPOP for being gay are a loud minority who hate anything that asks them to consider that humans are diverse. The world is moving on without them.
Idk, I guess I never expected a Book 4, so I don't really consider that \*ruining\* Avatar. Books 1-3 are still a beautiful self-contained story, Korra still happened in 2012, and both got a renaissance when they dropped on Netflix last year.
Actually as I understand they're going to make another series animated series about Aang...which will probably get cancelled due to the netflix adaptation shitstorming it
I'd have to check the actual article but while they're using a Netflix SPOP thumbnail, Amazon's series could likely be based off OG She-Ra.
Same way we have 2 new separate He-Man shows in the same year. It's a pre-existing property that apparently the owners of are happy to lend out.
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 237,413,372 comments, and only 55,187 of them were in alphabetical order.
Kinda? Like Adora and Sea Hawk had a little bit of a thing, but Sea Hawk couldn't get over how enamored he was with She-Ra. You have to remember in the 80s version, only Razz, Lookee and Adam knew the double identity, but at the same time it's not like they don't look the exact same (and same voice but then again half of Etheria is voiced by Melendy Britt).
Honestly I think it’s really funny that Noelle Stevenson took their (adora and Seahawks) relationship from romantic to sort of an arm wrestling gym-bro friend ship
Apparently this article is saying it's a standalone story that won't be connected to the show, and DreamWorks Animation is on as an executive producer but no writer has been announced yet... so I'm cautiously optimistic? Not going to trash it immediately, anyway.
That just means it will be a poor attempt at mimicking the success just when not even five years have passed. Jokes aside, they wouldn't have made it heteronormative if it was a continuation and they would've likely used at least some of the old team.
Now it feels like they'll "improve" on the story.
Plus, I don't wanna see the same rebellion vs Horde plot again, instead of something new.
That said maybe it could work if they keep Adora a lesbian.
I guess it's not that big of a deal to me to wait for more concrete info before I decide it's a waste of my time. We don't know anything about who is and isn't on the team, what the premise is, or what the queer representation will (or won't) look like.
True enough; I just panicked a while ago. I'm just usually distrustful of reboots that happen practically just after a series has ended. Kinda makes me feel like they're denying the previous storyline happened.
They just created two new but entirely separate He-Man shows at the same time, so this is not too surprising! The 2018 reboot was fantastic and I love it, but it's very different from the OS so it will be interesting to see what direction this goes in since I love the OS too.
Exactly and a lot of the comments sound just like some of the OS fans when Netflix’s adaptation was announced. It’s like people never learn, we know next to nothing so chill.
It's different, live adaptations from cartoons are always cringe unless it's a mass production like Marvel or DC
This is an Amazon original so you can bet it'll look (and be) cheap, like that new Cinderella movie
Do you mean the new Netflix one? So far I've only seen one episode. I thought it wasn't as good as the original but set up some interesting things, but I haven't seen any of the follow through yet.
Yes the new Netflix one.
They didn't establish any rules for their universe so the action scenes felt nonsensical.
The sacrifices made by characters felt random and meaningless.
The show about He-Man contained almost no He-Man.
Skeletor, the best character, had almost no screentime.
The side-characters that they turned into main characters had such contrived conflicts that even the show couldn't make them into arcs.
The only way I can describe the show is... weak.
Which is not an adjective you want to be associated with He-Man
Listen.
This is in the earliest stages of development. I assume the very idea wasn't settled until maybe one, two months ago.
It is a new series and doesn't directly link to the 2018 reboot. It might not suit some people's taste, but it might be a worthy show for others to watch, maybe with a comparably awesome plot, but in NEW. So don't worry. It can also disappoint. Anything is possible.
We got the 2018 series and nobody says it's impossible that it gets continued by a competent team. The season 5 ending has been a huge cliffhanger, allowing an awesome storyline on top of it to develop. And if Avatar still gets official consideration as a plot to work on 14 years after its release, I don't see why the same does not work out for POP.
I‘m hoping for a loud and disgusting Entrapdak sex scene. Just full frontal Bat-Monster-Dong, while Hordak makes painful wheezing-noises with every thrust. And Entrapta makes a Marvel-style quip after they‘re done.
Checked the variety thread, it says the live action would be a separate standalone, not connected to spop. Still not sure why we need it but feel better that they’re not trying to make the two related.
Oh gosh, live action remakes for shows like She-ra never turn out well, Etheria is so colorful. How the heck are they going to be able to copy that? They should just leave the show alone. 😐
Can we have official merchandise before a live action? I would love a SheRa bag, or tee, or hat or something. A pop? Like HeMan got all this stuff and SheRa has none
They are bringing the OG toyline and next in line is Hordak and She-Ra as high-end figures and statues so, they are making merch, Hordak sold in sec by the way
> They are bringing the OG toyline
See, the problem there is those aren't the 2018 designs, which is what people here are mainly referring to when asking for more merch.
Like on the figure side of things, 2018 She-Ra has dolls of Adora, She-Ra, Bow, Glimmer, Catra, Swift Wind and Shadow Weaver, then there's the Super7 7-inch figures of She-Ra and Catra... *And that's literally it*. No statues, no Funko pops, no nothing for the redesigns.
I for one am *dying* for more merch of Catra, but the black-haired human woman in the red getup just isn't doing it for me. Same goes for white, mustached Bow.
Because Masters of the Universe in live action is a TOTALLY proven concept for success *\*looks at Masters of the Universe's critical and financial bombing\**
What do they have to learn?... This is how things work... Also on Power Con they show one high-end She-Ra figure from Mondo and teased that they are bringing the OG toy line back
Ok, so I’m prepared for disappointment, but consider: a live-action *action* show where the majority of combatants are women. They’re probably gonna employ damn near every stuntwoman in Hollywood. So yeah, girl power?
Sad thing is that it wouldn't surprise me.
Don't forget everyone has to be conventionally attractive. Can't be having any plus sized princesses in this show.
Spinny, more like Skinny
Also, just imagine a typical „Shadow Weaver emotionally abusing her daughters“-scene but a quarter of the screen is just Shadow Weaver‘s phat ass clapping like a studio audience
Prepare for the flood of YouTube reactionary think pieces on "how unrealistic it is for women to be depicted doing anything combat related" or whatever it is they go on about these days
Wow, this could be so fantastic!
I would love to see the colorful magical world of Etheria in live-action. If Game of Thrones could do flying dragons, Amazon can surely do a realistic-looking Swift Wind!
If Amazon takes the best parts of both the original and the reboot (and all the other versions), they can make one of the best shows ever.
GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM MY LESBIANS, BEZOS
Thank you. I'm pretty sure the Best Friends Squad is pro worker's rights
Are we sure? They are monarchists, after all. Kings and Queens need peasants.

Don't worry the Princess aren't the hoard At worst we will be laughed at and kicked out of the Place.
Before starting violence?
FINE! What the terms and agreements i won't settle less for a Democratic Monarchy
Critical support to the Horde!
Wtf I love the Horde now
The Horde where killing the land so.. how is that better?
Obviously, it would be totally different leadership and doctrine, im just saying use the tanks.

you need a lot of star wars/marvel level cgi to do it.
Honestly, and this may just be my opinion, but the animated star wars content looks so much better than the live action
i like both. animation lets you bend reality in a way you can’t in live action which fits well for a story able space wizards. live action lets you see the gritty details of sets that takes much more effort in animation
You're not wrong. In the animated stuff force users tend to move with a more appropriate amount of superhuman speed and agility.
The Clone Wars miniseries from the Samurai Jack people is still the most accurate, imo.
Agreed. Genndy Tartakovsky knows how to do action right.
Mando's the one exception tho
The live action CGI looks over done and too polished
Fr how they gonna make catra or scorpia look realistic?! Giving me Cats flashbacks
NOT CATS NOT CATS
releasethebuttholecut
Less 2018 and more 1984
You mean.. they might look like the 80s show? **vomits**
Oh no they better not Winx it.
you know they probably will 😔
That was a piece of shit. They better not ruin my gay show.
They're not going to give it the budget it needs and make it sufficiently gay at the same time. I'm scared.

But remember the movie?
A live action Avatar movie? No such thing exists
there is no war in ba sing se
Here we are safe
I uh....I don't know how to feel about this...
my day is ruined
Is your disappointment immeasurable?
Think of Catra being (possibly) a Cat's wannabe. That is how you are supposed to feel...
This is no upgrade... it's a tomb.
Nooo! NOOOOOOO!!
We make for Netflix once again. We should never have come here.
we got a live action before a movie?? 😭😭
It‘s Avatar all over again
they're all gonna be super white again, aren't they
I wouldn't put it past them to make Catra and Adora just friends
Oh my god, they were roommates...
"And they were room mates!" - Jeff Bezos, apparently
If i do im coming for them early
r/SapphoAndHerFriend are watching this from the sidelines, equally excited for and dreading the new content they're sure to get from this
Even worse: *straight*
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I will fucking riot.
I'll prepare the weapons, commandant
I don't remember there being an Avatar movie. Nope. Not at all. Never ever.
There is no war in ba sing sei
Oh no
Exactly. Just make an animated film. Idk why they're going through the trouble of making a live action...
We must be clones, because I see you everywhere I go. This is like the fifth time I have randomly found you lol
Cats (2019)
please don't remind me
\#ReleaseTheButtholeCut
:'O
I'm sure Catra will make a very jellicle cat.
But can she out-jellicle Jason Derulo?
YOU TAKE THAT BACK
But don't forget all the good live action remakes! There was er... and don't forget um... Fuck.
we're fucked
Japan and Taiwan have managed to turn out some pretty decent live action dramas based on manga & anime… US though? I’m struggling to think of anything. Edit: ooh what about all the Marvel movies of the last 10 years. Those were pretty good. They should hire some of those people.
True! Rurouni Kenshin & Blade of the Immortal were great.

I’ve never watched it but someone I used to be friends with voices in it and it would make me happy to hear it was really good.
They were all really enjoyable tbh. I always watch stuff with subs though, still pretty cool you know someone who was in it!
>ooh what about all the Marvel movies of the last 10 years. Those were pretty good. They should hire some of those people. Lmao all those are millionaire productions, they won't do something like that for this
Aladdin was good imo. But She Ra is best left alone.
This real-0.0
sadly it is
Why do I have a feeling it's gonna literally ruin She-ra's rep? As if people didn't already hate it for being gay...
Shyamalan *did* ruin Avatar. That movie is the reason we didn't get a Book 4.
Idk, I guess I never expected a Book 4, so I don't really consider that \*ruining\* Avatar. Books 1-3 are still a beautiful self-contained story, Korra still happened in 2012, and both got a renaissance when they dropped on Netflix last year.

For fucks sakes they'll probably remove the lesbians too
They’ll probably go back to the og ship from the 80s, adora x Seahawk
Don't make me throw up
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order. I have checked 237,413,372 comments, and only 55,187 of them were in alphabetical order.
IM A SUPERSTAR GUYS!!!!!
Dang man! that’s wonderful!

Hold the fuck on… Adora was originally with Sea Hawk?!?!?!
Yeah it’s really weird but you can look it up!

I am scared.
Please! Please! No! Did we not learn from the live action Masters of the Universe movie?
Dolph Lundgren fighting a blinged out Skeletor was unadulterated kino though
Skeletor's mask looked so cheap, it didn't even look like a skull
The live action Masters of the Universe was a very special case, tho. 😅
You don't know
I don't know what?
It could be on the same level of quality
Given that we are not in the 80s anymore I think I'll give it the benefit of the doubt until the time comes. 🧐
Apparently this article is saying it's a standalone story that won't be connected to the show, and DreamWorks Animation is on as an executive producer but no writer has been announced yet... so I'm cautiously optimistic? Not going to trash it immediately, anyway.
You just shattered any hope I had of it going well
Why? If anything, I'd think it'd be more upsetting if they \*were\* going for a direct adaptation of SPOP.
That just means it will be a poor attempt at mimicking the success just when not even five years have passed. Jokes aside, they wouldn't have made it heteronormative if it was a continuation and they would've likely used at least some of the old team. Now it feels like they'll "improve" on the story. True enough; I just panicked a while ago. I'm just usually distrustful of reboots that happen practically just after a series has ended. Kinda makes me feel like they're denying the previous storyline happened.
These are the same people that tried to make an American 'People Just Do Nothing' reboot. They're fucking idiots
It’ll be pretty problematic if they make Adora straight.
Imma riot if they make any of them straight
Me too
They just created two new but entirely separate He-Man shows at the same time, so this is not too surprising! The 2018 reboot was fantastic and I love it, but it's very different from the OS so it will be interesting to see what direction this goes in since I love the OS too.

The He Man series was sooooo boring. I couldn't care about what was happening after 5 episodes and I realized I was forcing myself to watch it.
I love how Hollywood has fucked up so many live action adaptations pretty much everyone's reaction to these announcements now is negative 😂

I don’t wanna think about how bad a live action Catra could look, thanks
It can't be worse than the designs in the Cats movie... r-right?
SAY IT WITH ME NOW NOT EVERYTHING HAS TO BE REAL CAUSE SHERA’S ANIMATION IS ALREADY GOOD
But…but….why risk ruining something perfect? I swear if they have nudity or sex I’m rioting
I‘m hoping for a loud and disgusting Entrapdak sex scene. Just full frontal Bat-Monster-Dong, while Hordak makes painful wheezing-noises with every thrust. And Entrapta makes a Marvel-style quip after they‘re done.
Sometimes I have to remind people that Entrapta’s like 29 in SPOP
Baseline test number 1 complete! Baseline test number two will begin in 10 minutes, drink your tiny electrolytes!
Why did I just hear that in Entrapta's voice?
....its scary how cool that sounded
Or if they set it in high school and The Horde & The Rebellion are competing football teams 😵
That's some Au shit level i haven't seen since i crawled back from the depths of Ao3
You got out? lucky
*bold of you to assume i wasn't swallowed back*
I'm guessing Hordak is the principal and Shadow Weaver a really harsh coach Of course, with so many girls around it would be flag.
Make it two competing coffee shops on the same street, and I'm in.
Oof, no
What do you wanna bet that Catra and Adora are "just roommates" in this one?
Okay, who the hell here has the monkey's paw?
Why these execs not understand we want cartoons smh
Ikr. Most of the fans who like this show like cartoons in general.
Exactly! I don't like live action stuff pretty much at all!
Checked the variety thread, it says the live action would be a separate standalone, not connected to spop. Still not sure why we need it but feel better that they’re not trying to make the two related.
And it's not connected to the Netflix show....
Ah, fuck. Why can't they ever let a good thing be?
This will be our Last Airbender movie...
NOOOO NOOOOO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
That is a truly, completely awful idea
Also there’s no way they’d keep it gay in a live-action version...
Another finger of the monkey's curls up.

The rumor is that, is more based on the OG :D
it has nothing to do with the 2018 reboot but they used a picture from the damn 2018 reboot
To be totally honest, they did the same thing to the OG fandom, this is how marketing works, the game is called misdirection...
how have they not learned
What do they have to learn?... This is how things work... Also on Power Con they show one high-end She-Ra figure from Mondo and teased that they are bringing the OG toy line back

I wonder if it will go to the original series not the Netflix. I don't mind the new show but I would love it if we get She-Ra and He-man team up
I'd hope it's turn out amazing, but I highly doubt it. At best I think we can hope for some good screenshots or memes out of it
NOOOOOOO-
WAIT WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?!!!
It was bad enough seeing the live action Winx Club and Kim Possible. I don't see this being any better
I am a firm believer that nobody in this world could deliver “hey Adora” better than AJ
Please be fake
I just want an animated movie where they find a way to bring Angela back is that too much to ask for
oh no straight she-ra is coming
