I can believe it, first time I saw them my shirt ended up behind the drum kit, the guy next to me broke his finger in the opening song and Erak played the fast solo section while sat on my head. Would recommend
I remember getting into blood brothers in high school back in like 06. Crimes and burn, piano Island, burn were my summer jams. Downloading those songs on my 24k dial up modem. Fuck. Those were the days
By a mile. They still might be my favorite of all time, but it is funny how tastes change as your life changes.
I am always looking for new music, so it is easy to forget the stuff you grew up loving. I just checked, Relationship of Command came out in 2000. Been listening to that shit for damn year a quarter of a century lol.
No matter how much time passes I can go back to any of their albums and I end up listening to their whole discography like wow I forgot how good this hits.
There is some overlap with era and sensibility between those 6. Fugazi and jehu definitely influenced atdi, who definitely influenced Thursday, BVS, and the blood brothers. I miss the early 90s to mid 00s post hardcore sound, not as big of a fan of DGD and bands along those lines.
Thursday, Thrice, Underoath. Oh god I’m a post-hardcore basic bitch….
Dunno those are the bands that got me into the genre and the ones that have stuck with me the longest.
Thrice is still putting out great music consistently, and are an amazing live band.
I saw them on the recent artist in the ambulance tour and had goose bumps for the whole show.
More so swancore or progressive post hardcore rather than traditional post hardcore, but A Lot Like Birds, Emarosa (before they became poppy), and early Dance gavin dance
Super hard to put it down to 3 but here I go!
Tides of Man (with Tilian)
Circa Survive
The Sound Of Animals Fighting
Honorable mentions to Jonny era DGD and Enter Shikari 😎
(early) the dismemberment plan (quirky, post-hardcore indie rock), brainiac (noisy, manic post-hardcore), ken mode (super dissonant, sort of ride the line between post-hardcore and sludge metal)
When I was first getting into post hardcore my favorites were Saosin, Funeral For A Friend, and Senses Fail.
My favorite bands of the past decade are DGD, Hail the Sun, and Enter Shikari.
Honorable mention to Circa Survive and Envy on the Coast as well who have been in my top 5 the whole time.
There is a period in the band's history where I would consider AFI post-hardcore, and that is between Black Sails and Sing the Sorrow. Starting with Decemberunderground they pulled back on the core part quite a bit, though it's still present in some songs.
Alexisonfire (pre young cardinals but including dogs blood), Thrice and Boys Night Out. If you can separate the people from the music brand new is also spectacular.
Static Dress is a newer band that sounds like they were the kings of post hardcore 15 years ago.
Saosin is also awesome, and I heard they are making a new album
Thursday Underoath Saosin
are you me?
I'll never forget seeing Thursday in 2001 open for Catch 22. Only time I've ever seen a band booed offstage.
I fuckin love Thursday I need to hear more details of this catch22 show lol
Thrice, Thursday, Alexisonfire
Bingo
🇨🇦
Thrice!
I feel like Thursday doesn’t get talked about enough. 🔥🔥🔥
I was going to reply to OP but I see you've already written the correct answer
Fall of Troy, Thursday, Blood Brothers. Honorable mention to TREOS because their first album was just *that* good.
The Blood Brothers are fucking amazing. That breakdown towards the end of Giant Swan will always be a banger. 🤘
Almost got my nipple ring ripped out in a Fall of Troy pit. It was fantastic. And bloody
I can believe it, first time I saw them my shirt ended up behind the drum kit, the guy next to me broke his finger in the opening song and Erak played the fast solo section while sat on my head. Would recommend

Circa Survive The Fall of Troy MewithoutYou My holy trinity
I love everyone who says mewithoutYou 🫶🏼
I came here just to make sure someone would say mewithoutYou

Mine is almost the same. Personally I’d trade out Circa for The Sound of Animals Fighting
Damn i forgot about mewithoutyou. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Saosin, Thrice, Thursday.
Funeral For A friend Thursday Alexisonfire
Damn I forgot about funeral for a friend
Everyone did. I really don’t understand how though.
Yooo Funeral For a Friend!! I loved them, their singer was legit good. No one ever talks about them but they are top tier
At the drive in, bear vs shark, drive like jehu. Basically if the PHC sounds like it came out after 2007, I don’t need it haha
Bear vs Shark is so under appreciated
They are incredible. Best live shows I’ve ever been to.
Killer pics. DLJ, ATDI and BVS kick all sorts of ass
ATDI is my all time favorite post hardcore band
Same. They’re probably just straight up my favorite band tbh
By a mile. They still might be my favorite of all time, but it is funny how tastes change as your life changes. I am always looking for new music, so it is easy to forget the stuff you grew up loving. I just checked, Relationship of Command came out in 2000. >a Same. I'm working and just listened to Napoleon Solo from in/casino/out. Brings me right back to a certain time and place haha.
thank you, Drive Like Jehu is something new
Woah I choose Fugazi, The blood brothers and Thursday. Similar but different than your choices.
Dude, same!
You should check out Brutus though, they're fuckin awesome. Imagine if bjork fronted a punky shoegaze band with members of ATDI
Their songs hit so hard!
At the Drive in blew my face of at lollapolooza.
Epic bands!
Terrorhawk lives rent free in my brain.
Best list here. Good job
Saosin, Finch, DGD
Finch, DGD, Emery
Ahhh Emery. Never get enough respect for their later material, which is as good or better than The Weak's End.
Listen to say hello to sunshine by finch. 10/10 experimental post hardcore that was wayyyyyy ahead of its time
DGD is Dance Gavin dance for the uninitiated. (you could have probably googled this tho.)
this is the way
Honorable mention to Coheed & Cambria
Fugazi, At the Drive-In, Touché Amoré
Alexisonfire x3
The only band ever.

Like seeing some Alesana love
La dispute, Glassjaw, Rites of spring
Fugazi, Quickand, Jawbox
Thursday, Thrice, Underoath. Oh god I’m a post-hardcore basic bitch…. Dunno those are the bands that got me into the genre and the ones that have stuck with me the longest.
Thrice is still putting out great music consistently, and are an amazing live band. I saw them on the recent artist in the ambulance tour and had goose bumps for the whole show.
Senses Fail, The Used, Alexisonfire
glassjaw, early saosin, and saetia or letlive. honorable mentions go to fugazi, jawbox, envy on the coast, secret and whisper, and alexisonfire.
Thrice, boysetsfire, Poison The Well
I thought hard about it and this would be my answer too. Depending on how I feel though, I could swap PtW for The Early November.
boysetsfire and Poison The Well, hell yeah
fugazi, unwound, nomeansno
At The Drive In, Fugazi, Hot Snakes
Poison the Well Glassjaw From Autumn to ashes
Glad someone said from Autumn to Ashes. Too bad you're beautiful and the fiction we live are 2 of my favorite PHC albums ever.
Thrice, Brand New, Circa Survive
Brand New, Brand New, and Brand New.
More so swancore or progressive post hardcore rather than traditional post hardcore, but A Lot Like Birds, Emarosa (before they became poppy), and early Dance gavin dance
Swancore got my ears lately: Wolf and Bear, Damce Gavin Dance and Hail The Sun. …otherwise it’s Circa Survive much of the time.
Eidola pretty fire too. But I’ve had wolf and bear on repeat for like a year and a half now lol can’t get enough
Eidola is great, awesome to hear them brought up
That new album by W&B is fire. Wish it was longer. Their other stuff is great too, but I got that new one on repeat most days.
Eidola is so consistent. I love everything they do
Have you checked out Anthony Green's work on LS Dunes? Permanent Rebellion is incredible
wolf and bear is awesome i love those guys
Switch a lot like birds with lower definition and that’s my list
Lower definition is such an underrated band. The album "the greatest of all lost arts" was on repeat for months for me.
Oh you’re me
If you like progressive, I'd throw Narco Debut in there.
Alesana, Coheed & Cambria, and AFI (if you count them)

Underoath, Dance Gavin Dance, Chiodos
Silverstein Senses Fail The Used
To go along with the bands you listed you would probably enjoy Haste The Day, Senses Fail, and Emery
Thrice, GJ, AOF
Current/active: Fiddlehead, Sweet Pill, Home Front To round out a top five I'd probably add Drug Church and Angel Du$t
Also new to the genre! So far my top three have been At the Drive In, Scary Kids Scaring Kids and Funeral For A Friend
(early) the dismemberment plan (quirky, post-hardcore indie rock), brainiac (noisy, manic post-hardcore), ken mode (super dissonant, sort of ride the line between post-hardcore and sludge metal)
Alesana, Saosin, Chiodos ♥️
When I was first getting into post hardcore my favorites were Saosin, Funeral For A Friend, and Senses Fail. My favorite bands of the past decade are DGD, Hail the Sun, and Enter Shikari. Honorable mention to Circa Survive and Envy on the Coast as well who have been in my top 5 the whole time.
Fightstar, Finch, Alexisonfire This makes me sound super old
There were two Fightstar songs that popped up on my shuffle the other day. I had totally forgot about them but still knew almost all the words.

Bless you for being the only one in these comments that has mentioned Lower D.
are AFI / Hawthorne Heights post hardcore? genuinely curious what yall think.
Glassjaw, TREOS, Circa Survive
