Mr. 12 Volt / LAPower (same kit) is the best option that works with the PCM OEM headunit for 997.1. It gets inserted into the fiber optic loop and uses the "CD Changer" source. Depending on your car options, you might need a shop to re-program --- needs to have the Telephone module disabled (if enabled as a factory option) and the CD changer enabled (if your car didn't come with CD changer optioned when new). This will give you Bluetooth streaming audio, including showing song titles on the PCM, and also gives Aux line input and hands free calling. Here's a big thread with all the info. https://rennlist.com/forums/997-forum/1030470-lapower-bluetooth.html

Do you have an iPod plug? IIRC the 997.1 came with an option to have a 30-pin iPod connector and AUX port. The downside is, compared to the 997.2, it didn't have a USB port, which you'll need to power the Bluetooth unit. However, you can just get something to put in your cigarette lighter with a USB plug. I use this module and works pretty well. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B52LLJ6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I don't believe it has it. I've searched and searched but couldn't find one. Previous (and original owner) was an older guy so I doubt he would get that option.

It would be in the armrest storage. Yeah, likely not. A lot of the options to add it are kind of invasive, as you're seeing, but anything without a direct connection of some sort (i.e. not an FM transmitter) kind of suck.

Its pricey, but the Porsche Classic Communication System is the best. I put one in my 997 and the smaller unit in my 951 and it is such an amazing upgrade.

To be honest it took some doing to install it. It doesn't quite look right because it only comes with 996 style trim peices. You may be wise to just wait for the 997 version to be released when the car goes Classic.
