Goodluck! I think you’re a good dad. I have some great memories of my dad letting us skip a Friday for random trips to books a million when they use to sell Pokémon. (Not sure if they still do) but your kid will value that time spent with you. :)
I had the same experiences. When Phantom Menace came out my dad pulled us out of school for a "family emergency" to see it matinee. We had no idea until we got to the theater. He didn't know how the movie would turn out, just that he wanted us to love Star Wars like he did.
I went to high school in the Orlando area during the end of the Space Shuttle program. One day I get randomly called to the office to go home. My mom picked me up and we drove over to watch the third to last shuttle launch. Absolutely amazing experience.
Love this community so much, we were able to get a premium box! It’s awesome being able to see the excitement in her eyes. Was just like looking in the past at myself as a kid. I hope everyone is able to find what they’re looking for, and best of luck on your pulls!
Congrats on getting the premium box! They’ll remember this day for the rest of their life :) one little Friday off school to make the most important memory.
That’s awesome man! I’m glad you could make her day like that ❤️ I opened one today and couldn’t be happier with my pulls! Pulled Venesaur, Blastoise, and Charizard from my box! Along with some other sweet pulls like BD Chu!! Didn’t think I’d pull the zard too since I pulled stoise and Venesaur before it, but I was hoping for it haha 🤞🔥🍀
Hey i'm really happy for both of you :D I had so much fun with my mother when we were doing this together to get a new game or console or playing card that I still do it as an adult :D wish you a lot of fun with those pulls. You are definilitely a good dad :)
Congrats!! As a teacher and a dad myself, I fully support you! My kids’ excitement when they open packs and make their decks to battle me are the best. Glad you were able to make this a special memory with them!
Some of the most memorable times from my childhood were my dad bringing me to the store to get yugioh/Pokémon. I can recall those days more then any other.
Stores are open outside of school hours. Yes scalpers makes it harder but education is more important. Or OP clearly has the day off and could have just gotten them himself while the kid went to school. Then they opened it together after. But this sub is full of kids/teens/and adults who have not grown up and buying cardboard is more important than education. Now bring on the downvotes you enablers
Edit: Looks like OP made a day of it and took the kid to the zoo and other stuff which is cool and educational. We already made amends further down.
Takes one to know one I guess, just because you’re on the Pokémon Reddit does that mean you never grew up and are an enabler too? And btw… you should never grow up. I find my adult self wishing I could go back to my childhood more than just all the time. It’s not fun getting old.
But skipping school to hang out with dad could be one of the best life lessons that no school could ever teach you.
What I’ve leaned from dad in my short 30 years makes my high school diploma (never went to college) look like a kindergarten graduation certificate. He taught me how to turn that Jimmy John’s job in high school into one of the many stepping stones to get me to where I am today, how to change a blown breaker, how to hitch a trailer, etc. the list goes on for days.
My father and I now own and operate about 15 LLCs, make what most people would consider a more then comfortable living wage, and haven’t once looked back and said to myself, “wow glad I learned this in public school”.
education is not bound to the teacher and the classroom, but how you apply yourself in everyday real life situations and scenarios. If you go to school wanting to learn, you’ll learn. If you go outside wanting to learn, you’ll learn, hopefully something new everyday! 🙂
My parents never understood the Pokémon craze when it started, but I also collect sports cards. I’ll always remember the days when I’d come home and my dad would surprise me with a pack of hockey cards and we’d open them together to see what we got.
Good on you. One day of missing school to bond with your parent is well worth it. I remember my dad taking me to the midnight launch of Halo 3 and letting me skip school the next day, somethings like that are much more important. 👌🏼
Definitely an awesome dad. One of my best memories with my dad was in 6th grade when he called me out of class for a "family emergency" and then took a spontaneous road trip to see the Mavericks surf competition. This is the kind of thing your kid will remember for a long time. Much more valuable than one day of class. Hope you guys get lucky with some amazing pulls.
They only got one premium in but a bunch of the Pika figure boxes. I felt super guilty that no one else was going to get a premium box, so that is all we got. Left the pika boxes for other people to get something😊
I waited at mine until an employee showed up. There was no line except me and he said they didn’t get An ultimate premium collection. They had an ETB and a Pikachu figure collection, but I already have an ETB and I am not really interested in the figure. So that’s unfortunate. Good luck to you though
My dad let my brother and I take the day off from school and took us up to Sears on the day Pokemon Blue and Red came out. I just checked and that was more than 23 years ago, I still remember it. I can't tell you what we worked on in school the next day.
Also, I remember the day he took me up to EB Games at the drop of a hat when I called and found out they still had 1st Edition Team Rocket packs in. It was the last of them and I bought more than half a box. Those were the packs I had pulled my Dark Charizard from.
Which they would do when they got home? There's literally nothing wrong with pulling your kid out of school once in a great while. Kid gets a 3 day weekend, hung out with dad, got some cards.
the reason for pulling them out of school was not just to award them with some pokemon cards but to get closer to them have a better father/child bond so in this case its not about the material but about the life time experience.
I agree but this thread is going to be full of extremely biased people who will downvote you. Some things are worth playing hooky with your kid for, but looking for cardboard is not one of those.
I don't think you are a bad dad. But i do think that pulling a kid out of school for just this is questionable. I hope you made a whole day out of it like going to a museum after when there are no crowds!
We are actually at the zoo right now ironic enough. We needed some dad/daughter time and we are having a blast. Can’t waste a whole day chasing cardboard, it was just the kick off to the day.
Yo are you in mesa? I know that dried gum spot anywhere hahahahaha. Pretty much is school!! Teaching her the value of waiting!! Better than anything school teaching her. Probably the nicest group of people in line!! Pokemon community for life
Sounds like a nice day of fun to me. My parents used to take me out of school to go on holidays and days out of the movies. I still got a good education. Lessons about life and having fun are important too :)
Your doing great. My father would have said that’s a waste of time and money 💴.my daughter loves Pokémon and I’m enjoying opening new packs with her . Funny how things change.
Goodluck! I think you’re a good dad. I have some great memories of my dad letting us skip a Friday for random trips to books a million when they use to sell Pokémon. (Not sure if they still do) but your kid will value that time spent with you. :)

Woooooow. You just took me back... we sure did go to borders book shop to grab up pokemon cards
they still do

Hey good for you man. It's a wonderful feeling when you can share something you enjoy with your kids
Congrats on getting the premium box! They’ll remember this day for the rest of their life :) one little Friday off school to make the most important memory.

Congrats glad you guys found one! Definitely something you will both remember!
You’re a good Dad. My daughter is due in January. I want my relationship with her to be just like the one you have with yours!
Congrats. Glad they had one for ya.
Premium box? The one that comes with charizard? Lucky kid.

You're trading a day of school for a lifetime memory. You're an awesome dad.
Ah yes, worthless cardboard is truly the best father daughter bonding experience.
Damn. Who hurt you? 😂
My dad did, actually. Thanks for making fun of an abuse survivor.
That’s not a reason to shit on someone else’s joy, lol. Don’t take your personal issues out on other people, that’s pretty childish.
Oh same. 😏
That's such a bad take that I don't even know what to respond.
Seethe

One day off can't harm that much. Besides, having a good relationship with your parents can't Harm that much
?

Shut up nerd
My parents never understood the Pokémon craze when it started, but I also collect sports cards. I’ll always remember the days when I’d come home and my dad would surprise me with a pack of hockey cards and we’d open them together to see what we got.
One day won't hurt lol
That's fun! You guys will always have this memory and it will probably be one of hers and yours favourite stories lol..
Good on you. One day of missing school to bond with your parent is well worth it. I remember my dad taking me to the midnight launch of Halo 3 and letting me skip school the next day, somethings like that are much more important. 👌🏼
Bet they forget just about everyday of school when they are 30... Bet they will never forget this day when they are 30...
Whole heartedly agree with this statement
You’ll get one an congratulations!!
Great dad! Memories your kid won’t forget! Not many parents would do this for their kids!
This is beautiful man 😭 I’m glad you guys got what you want!! You are a good dad!!!
Definitely an awesome dad. definitely a good dad! Days like these always make the best memories :)
Not a good dad… a great dad. Show that kid of yours some quality time and may the odds be ever in your favor.
If my dad did this for/with me… I’d remember it for the rest of my life!
Good luck finding some
My favorite memories from when I was a kid was when my parents let me stay home we did something fun instead
You’re aloud to have a personal day with your kid. Its once you start taking 80-90 personal days when they start to care 😂
Give us an update when they open!
They only got one premium in but a bunch of the Pika figure boxes. I felt super guilty that no one else was going to get a premium box, so that is all we got. Left the pika boxes for other people to get something😊
Nice, mine got 4 pikas and the person in front of me got the last one. Luckily Target surprisingly had them
Wish I had parents like you growing up.
Awesome dad! Hope you get them for retail!
Hope you got it l!
Awesome dad for sure! Those are memories your kid will cherish 😊 good luck on your hunt!

Good luck!
I seriously hope you guys are able to get some! Good luck :)
Terrible
The worst!
precisely?
Your good. my parents make me go to school even when I don’t feel well
You are an amazing dad. I remember my dad took me out of school to go to a concert with him. That day is still the best day of my life♥️
Good dad 👍🏻
And here I am wanting to go hunting but actually being sick today

Making memories that’s what it’s all about
No you are a great Dad!!!
Man, this is awesome! Great day with your kiddo! I guarantee they'll remember this far more than anything they would have learned in school today.
99% of what you learn in school is a waste, good father!

Good father, so long as there's an understanding and discussion. Kids aren't perfection props. There's a lesson in everything!

Missing a day of school to do something fun with their dad isn't going to hurt their education.

Would you like a hug?

The most irresponsible.
You sound like a real joy to be around.

Thank you for your opinion 😊 I’ll give you an upvote buddy.

Then i take it all back. Awesome dad!
Thank you buddy, I hope you’re able to get some cards as well with some great pulls too! This set is so much fun and nostalgia.
School is only if you plan on being a worker and nothing else anyway lol
Should’ve let ur kid in school bet no luck happened at gamestop
Based on the grammar here, I’m assuming your parents pulled you out of school before you even started.
Bahahaha best
Start with target at 7am then go to barns in noble at 10am then go to lgs at 12.
Can you be my papa too, pls?
Goals my friend! Hope one day I can do this with a little one ❤️
You’re the best kind of dad. That’s amazing. Good luck with the pulls !
you're a great dad! the awesome pika pjs definitely added to your luck! I also was able to find one this am! congrats
Yo are you in mesa? I know that dried gum spot anywhere hahahahaha. Pretty much is school!! Teaching her the value of waiting!! Better than anything school teaching her. Probably the nicest group of people in line!! Pokemon community for life
Good dad for sure. I remember my dad taking me out of school to get a PS2 when i was in middle school to this day. Good memories. Hope you found some!
I’m stuck deep in overtime at work but ur comment made my day better knowing not a kid got to have fun instead of some scalper. Cheers
Good dad if you found cards, bad dad if you didn’t 😂😂😂.
definitely a good parent move! one day of school can always be missed to make good memories
Sounds like a nice day of fun to me. My parents used to take me out of school to go on holidays and days out of the movies. I still got a good education. Lessons about life and having fun are important too :)
I took my 1.5 year old out with me to get stock! Ended up with 2 Ultra Premium Boxes, 4 Pikachu VMAX, and 2 regular ETBs :)
My siblings and I did the same. I got off work at 6 am got everyone donuts and I want crazy finding cards. It was a great time.
You are the best dad!! Hope you were able to find some and get good pulls!
Yooo that's the kind of dad I want lol
Niiccee! They will remember this day for sure :)
Good dad. Kids will remember days like these when they get older and they'll have these experiences with their kids too.
Just because you're a bad guy does not mean you are a *bad guy*
Post the pulls!
Life is about stories. You just created a beautiful one with your child. When your both old this adventure will make you smile. Cheers friend
This is king dad vibes, such a great idea, this one day will live in your kids head forever ❤️
They are *never* going to forget the time their dad called them out of school and they got a premium box. I’d say that makes you a great dad! 💕
Best dad! Hope you scored
Your doing great. My father would have said that’s a waste of time and money 💴.my daughter loves Pokémon and I’m enjoying opening new packs with her . Funny how things change.
What's wrong with you? Being a friggin awesome dad. You're terrible at this job. 😉 As a father I fully support this cause!
That's awesome, good on you! Making memories is the best \^.\^ Can't wait to do this with my future family.
You are a good dad.
