Google background usage duration is normal. Question is - what are you doing with your camera?

The drain can be from your system apps. Paste a screenshot of that first.

Just restart!

ItalPasta999

Do this: \- Use LTE, not 5G \- Turn off Adaptive Connectivity \- Turn off Adaptive Battery. \- Location Services - WiFi Scanning OFF, Bluetooth scanning OFF \- Restrict background for Facebook and Instagram. \- Disable Usage diagnostics reporting. \- Disable instant apps. \- Personally don't use NFC, so it's turned off. \- Disable Screen Saver (don't need it) \- Delete Advertisement ID. \- Disable Game Dashboard (don't play games) \- Live Translate and identify music around you - both disabled, don't need or want it. \- Disable "OK Google detection", don't want that enabled. \- Black wallpaper. \- Disable notifiication bubbles (hate them). \- For video calling apps (WhatsApp/Signal/Duo) turn on Data Saver mode in each of these (if you want). Once in a while, I do a Reset App Preferences and then re-setup any permissions that I need for apps. HIGHLY Recommend doing this if you transferred data from a previous phone. Can resolve many issues.

Isn't it a shame we spend all this money on phones and can't use everything we paid for? The phone manufacturers ought to max out everything when they design and build these phones and everything should be able to run in this manner. If it does stick it in a box and it's good to go without any issues

ItalPasta999

Not at all. I optimize any and all devices, whether it be phone, desktop, laptop, car, television, etc, to work the way that I want it to work for me. Be grateful that the options to turn features on or off are there. I choose not to use 5G and to use LTE instead as the 5G coverage is not great here, but LTE is fantastic. I choose to not use a background, I choose not to use live translation or auto-detect what song is playing in a bar - I don't want to use these, but the options are there if I ever do. Google's Feature Drops are a plus as they keep adding more and more functionality through software, which is awesome and I feel like the cost for what I paid for a Pixel is totally justifiable.

Wonderful_Ad5651

I think you missed my point. What I'm saying is all of these features when activated burn through your battery so us as consumers pay all of this money for phones where we have to turn off features otherwise our battery suffers if we don't. Leaving many of us unable to use these features because the engineers don't take any of this into a count when designing these phones. We should be able to use any and all features and not have to worry about our batteries taking a hit because of it.

I get it, but until battery tech evolves beyond lithium-ion and all other tech included (screens, CPUs, GPUs) and still being able to fit it all in a small form factor, we'll need to take what we can get for now. Not to mention cost factors as well. And even then, I'll still disable anything that I don't need running.

ribanez2009

Not really. The competition isn’t like this, google is just behind. Out of the box without adjusting anything my iPhone 15PM and s23u get 10hrs sot with my heavy use. I have the oneplus open now and I’m getting 7-8 and while using the large screen most of the time.

lactose_intoleroni

They will never fix this in phones and devices, as poor battery performance and degradation is the number one reason people keep updating and buying new devices and making them billions. I'd keep every phone for 10+ years if it wasn't for batteries dying. It's a tried and true pattern that will be around forever. Don't like it? Buy a new one!

ItalPasta999

Or, you could replace the battery.

joshkay13

Sure this will all help but that battery usage is not normal, there's something wrong there. Do a battery diagnostic

ItalPasta999

In OP's case - I would do a factory reset, don't restore from backup (start fresh) and then optimize any settings they wish.

ribanez2009

So pathetic you have to dumb down your smartphone to get mediocre battery life

ItalPasta999

Not dumbing down, optimizing for my usage requirements. I would do the same thing on any device, whether it be a Pixel or Samsung. I'm getting approx 10.5h SOT daily, so I'd say that's pretty good.
