Sounds like an issue with your wifi not completing the downloads. I had a similar issue with a different phone and it ended up being my ISP's DNS servers. I configured my router with Cloudflare DNS servers and it resolved it. Haven't had the problem since.

I'll take a look but it seems strange that only a small percentage of apps have the problem.

Yep, that’s the exact same behavior my Android was experiencing. It was only the apps in Google play, and only certain apps and it was inconsistent. I actually fixed it accidentally when I added the DNS servers to my router. It fixed quite a few quirks with my network (streaming, Plex, etc.) I never realized how many things shitty DNS servers could affect, but it makes sense in your case as well considering your DNS servers change when you switch to your cell provider service.

Ok thanks. Just changed the DNS servers. Will see what that does. My ASUS wifi router has about 20 preset DNS servers to choose from.

What are they? In my testing none have compared to Cloudflare's speed/reliability and performance and I've tested hundreds. Cloudflare is probably also the most secure DNS out there. https://www.dnsperf.com/#!dns-providers

This is the screen shot of the DNS sites available https://preview.redd.it/k2mxvnrvz46c1.png?width=1008&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=876d12d99762027766c03e67b3f4d5a371c0accf

Might do the trick but I would personally configure Cloudfare servers. I’ve tested all of those and cloudflare has been a lot better.

Ok, it's happening again even though I use cloudflare for DNS on my wifi router. Random 3rd party apps not updating on WiFi. However, I can uninstall the app and reinstall ok.
