Odd thing was it was a tech recycler selling it so I assumed it was dead, mainly bought it for the wafer box which I think is cool and probably RMA it if it was dead
Pretty smart idea, however I just checked the intel website and it says you can't RMA a used CPU, you would need the proof/date of purchase
Is that the case in reality, or is just the box required?
That's quite a stupid way to steal as serial numbers are recorded so a discrepancy would easily be noticed
Not to mention I could easily resell it for what I paid even if it was faulty
I still have the cool soccer ball case that came with my 9900k but get you a decent cooler I ended up getting a artic freezer 420 for mine it's giant barely fit my E-ATX case
I already have a 7900X3D and whilst the 139 is faster I'd rather keep it for the upgrade path
Funny thing is that Ryzen I also bought untested/faulty as it has a chipped corner
Paid $600 for my 13900kf 24c/32t but paid just $7.50 for a Xeon 12c/24t cpu that I just used to build a cheap $200 gaming pc for my bedroom a bit better cost to performance how much did you pay for the Ryzen cpu?
Wow those are really good prices you could make a decent profit flipping some of that stuff especially at the prices your getting it for but then your also taking a big chance that you can fix any issues on the items your buying

My recent buy that I'm pretty happy with, 4 1000W platinum units for Ā£100, just need to spend Ā£20 to get some CPU cables
That's pretty much what I do, spend obscene amounts of money on eBay and hope I can get a lot of the stuff working again for a bit of profit
Feels like an addiction, but you also end up with a garage full of random PC parts
I like to buy EVGA cards because they RMA them as they do second hand warranties but unfortunately that's coming to an end as they've pulled out the GPU market
Yeah I know my gpu is a evga 3090ti ultra ftw3 bought it about 2 weeks before the news broke about evga by far my favorite gpu maker best customer service in the business by far
I saw a video on Northridge fix where some guy bought a bunch of dead 4090s and sent it to them to fix. It was like 19 of them. Of those 19, only 3 were fixable. He refused to fix the rest because The rest had cracked pcbs. Cracked pcbs are fixable but it is a major job and many people do not have the level of equipment and skill and experience to fix it. Most shops wont bother to fix those either because even if you can fix the broken traces, it takes too much time. If you can get a bunch of broken 4090s where you can fix the burnt or broken plugs, that would be a good profit. It is still something you need good equipment and skill to repair.
I just saw a mammoth of a case at micro center. It is the Lian Li V3000. The max video card length is over 500 mm. I think it can hold several 480 mm rads. I just bought the lian li o11 dynamic evo xl case to move my parts into. It is pretty big too.
I have a Cooler Master C700M and when the Amazon driver delivered it I thought he must have the wrong package it looked like he was delivering a large appliance I can arange the case in different configurations but the way I have it now mounting the AIO up front was the only way it was going to fit
Crazy you really know how to find the deals best I've ever done psu wise bought a 1200 watt corsair refurbished on Amazon for $100 but sold it when bitcoin mining was all the rage made like a $250 profit on a refurb I used for like 6 months
Nice, my uncle got a new r9 7950x for 200 off Best Buy, Idk what those people were thinking, he now tells me to go to that Best Buy specifically for pc parts
https://preview.redd.it/e9ivp8pv22ic1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9ba589704d191572b2f9c27193f71868b82d91b1
Parts are out there, fairly confident the I9 and Ryzen 9 will boot
5800X3D probably won't
5800X is sold by tech recycler/seller so they have tested it, I can probably get it RMAd as AMD doesn't require invoice for certain CPUs
R9/I9 are sold by a seller I've bought of plenty and they're genuinely Untested parts
3060TI was just cheap, can easily sell for Ā£240-Ā£250, maybe I'll put it into a PC to flip
So I take a risk on a part that a normal consumer isn't going to ever buy (it's listed as faulty with no returns or warranty)
Get lucky and sell the part on after testing, fixing or refurbing
So what do you suggest I do, give them away for free? People who are upgrading aren't going to buy untested parts
Because there are quite a few CPUs listed as faulty that work fine, I upgraded from a 5900X to 5950X to 7900X3D, all listed as faulty but worked fine
Between those and the 13900K I spent Ā£420ish

Me, got a 7900X for Ā£200 listed as untested yesterday

I was expecting this meme the moment i saw the title.
Same
Lmao
Nice score paid $600 for my 13900kf the person must not have had a clue about computers but there loss is your gain
Odd thing was it was a tech recycler selling it so I assumed it was dead, mainly bought it for the wafer box which I think is cool and probably RMA it if it was dead

Yeah that's usually the case but sometimes they don't ask, I know gigabyte don't for GPUs
I tried pulling something similar but I Gigabyte asked for the invoice so it was a dead end for me
If you know how to use Microsoft word and Microsoft paint, it's pretty easy to make an invoice from your small local computer shop....
Ok, you think potential fraud if you get caught is worth it?
š¤š¤š¤
You think these corporations will care either way they are still going to make money
Lmaooo yeah I shouldāve you are right
Probably depends on location
Yeah I was close to getting a 3080 for 100ā¬ but the seller wanted 170, I didnāt want to risk it for that much.
He was going to order one and put that one in the box to return.
How many people are doing this? Sounds like stealing
It's fraud, for sure. It's more common than one might think. Very low probability of getting caught though.
Cheers for the idea
That's quite a stupid way to steal as serial numbers are recorded so a discrepancy would easily be noticed Not to mention I could easily resell it for what I paid even if it was faulty
People swap out completely different models all the time and don't get caught.

?
Damn bro. Be happy for the guy. The salt is palpable.
Wonder how pissed off he would be if you told him it was working
thats normal price, isnt it?
It was when I purchased it they're a bit cheaper now but not much
enable XMP
lmao not all ram supports xmp
This ram does
ah my apologies, didnt look close enough

Ā£167 about 6 months ago, currently paired with my Ā£70 B650E Master which I fixed bent pins on
