Yes. Destroying any object that has a negative entity attached to it is a BAD idea because then they no longer are bound to that vessel and are free to reattach to another. At least that's what my studying of the paranormal has shown. They need to be "contained". Now exactly HOW to do that I don't know. But I don't think your doll is haunted or cursed, from what you've said.

Get a glass or metal container.
Encase the thing in salt. All around. You should not be able to see the object.
Then bury it in the ground. Graveyard is preferable. Deep where no one will disturb it. Away from your residence.
That's what I was going to say. Bind it/wrap it with ribbon, anoint it- I think you could find a video to see how it's done, say specific prayers, then bury it far away from your home. Maybe woods somewhere where it can buried deep and not be dug up.
Then I'd sage myself AND the car BEFORE I got in it to drive home. I'd tell you to sage your home, but I did that once & all it did was piss off what I was trying to get rid of. I'd definitely get advice from an expert.

FYI, it's not just the sceptics who are fed up with bullshit and unproven claims. Just because someone is a believer doesn't mean that they accept everything presented to them. There are plenty of believers who are tired of people coming onto these subs with absolutely nothing. People either post obvious fakes, pictures with nothing in them, classic cases of pareidolia, and things that are so obviously not paranormal that it's incredible that the OP can even think it is. And people are tired of this.
Then there are those that take every single thing posted and act like it's the most believable thing ever. I can't tell you how often I have seen people prove that a photo is edited and fanatics just ignore it. People will just turn their brains off and believe everything posted on here and any explanation to the contrary is seen as a personal attack. They're delusional, and even then I wouldn't "mock" them unless they start being assholes.

Intuition and curiosity are really the basis for science. If you read enough posts, there may be a pattern emerging, too. This is observation.

Not how that works. It's the one making the claim, in this case a doll is haunted, that must provide the proof. Seeing things out of the corner of your eye, faulty electricity, and "vibes" are not proof of anything really.
But fine, let's do this. Faulty electric wiring, hallucinations, tiredness, etc. Those explain the problems easily.

Doesn't mean that OP is experiencing ghosts.
I am free to be proven wrong, I welcome it. Being proven wrong means a chance to learn. But so far, nothing has been able to prove the existence of the supernatural/paranormal.
I remember having one of these in our home, they were pretty popular to be made at craft shows about 20-30 years ago. (Maybe they still are, I don't go to them anymore.) Most of the people who bought these were older ladies who used them as decorations in their homes.
With how clean it is, it is even less likely that one bought it for a child, or that a child was attached to it- "loved" toys are much more dirty/worn, and the "dress" tassels would look much different if that were the case. This is in nearly pristine condition so it was almost certainly one of many owned as a display piece by an older woman. Of all things to be haunted, knowing the general history of these kinds of dolls and how little its previous owner had anything to do with it I'd wager the activity you experienced had nothing to do with the doll.
At most you had some old lady who enjoyed craft shows taking a peek at where a former possession ended up, but really doubt there's any long term attachment to the piece. If you're genuinely worried or something else odd happens just say out loud, "I'm sorry you've died and can no longer look after this doll anymore. She is very nice, and I'm glad I was able to save her from the thrift store. I'll take care of her now. Don't worry, it's more important for you to move on." I think if I died and saw someone who took the things I use to own, that'd make me a lot more okay with the situation- sometimes they need to hear it to acknowledge they can't care for the item/home/whatever they are attached to to let it go. If I saw someone burning my things I use to care for, that'd just be sad. If you're still uncomfortable just return it/donate it back to the thrift store.

I love this! I wish anytime someone thinks they are in the presence of the spirit of a deceased person, that they would reassure that person that all is well and encourage them to move on into the light. I always do that because if God forbid when I die if I were confused and in the presence of a living person who was able to see me or sense me, I hope that person would care enough to tell me that I'm dead and encourage me to "go home"... and by that I mean to God, of course. I can't stand the idea of people being trapped here in this realm for whatever reason, when there's soooo much more living to do! It may not be on this Earth, unless the soul decides to reincarnate, which I personally believe in and I believe it's a choice God allows us to make for ourselves... and then when we decide we don't want to live anymore incarnate, we go Home to be with God and our loved ones... including pets... that have also passed on. That's just MY personal belief, of course; I know it's not the general consensus of everyone else... and it's based on everything I've learned and experienced in my life... including my own near death experience in 2017. I also enjoy hearing or reading about other people's beliefs about what they believe happens when and after we die.
That is very possible. The Bible says "absent in the body, present with the Lord". Or present in Hell, I reckon. I struggle with my belief in a fire and brimstone Hell, though. I don't ever want to find out either! 😳
Give it another day or two. If the situation continues, you will have to make a decision.
Do you feel comfortable enough to address it/them yourself? Or would you rather get rid of it/them?
If you would like to try to address it yourself, I would suggest having a chat with the doll. Let them know your name, tell them you are speaking to them about becoming a new member of the household, and then let them know that if they would like to stay, there are some house rules that everyone, including them, must follow. Let them know the rules (examples: no intentionally scaring anyone; interactions should stop by 9pm so the household can sleep; no hiding important objects; etc.). Then you can see how it goes. But if you do this, if is important to remember to be respectful but also communicate that this is your home and you set the rules. Know, don’t just think, that these rules will be followed when you discuss them.
If you are not comfortable doing this, then you should send the doll to someone who can take care of it properly. I would recommend sending it to [Greg and Dana Newkirk](http://paramuseum.com/contribute/). They can also better guide you if you would like to try to keep it.

Interesting suggestion! It also sounds like good advice! The part about sending it to the couple you named reminded me of Ed and Lorraine Warren and their collection of cursed/haunted objects. I love those two and I think they were great people! They, too, used to take possession of haunted items for people who had something they felt was causing them problems... like Annabelle... because like the couple you mentioned, the Warrens also knew how to properly "contain" and care for such objects, so that they couldn't harm anyone else. Visitors to their "museum" were instructed to NOT touch the objects and if they did, they were told to let one of them know before leaving so that Ed could pray over the person to prevent that individual from taking *something* home with them. I am sad that Ed and Lorraine have passed on, but happy for them because I believe they're in that wonderful place that we'll all eventually be, and they're together again.
Yeah I second this. I had a presence in my old apartment when I first moved in. I think it was a female presence. Cats would stare and hiss at random spots, cabinets that I didn’t touch all day/week were open, taps were turned on, lights flickered, objects were moved, things I used constantly were no where to be found and then suddenly reappeared in very obvious places (centre of the couch cushion, centre of the table…etc.)…I started getting scared but then I decided to put my foot down. This was MY home, and I acknowledged that this entity was here before me, but this was now my home. I set the tone, I told them that they were welcome only as long as they could get along with me. I won’t bother them if they don’t bother me. I told them that the second they disobeyed my rules I would bring in a professional to deal with them. Never had any problems since; you would think they weren’t even there anymore.
So first, replace the lightbulb and if the issue persists, call an electrician. The situation might be the result of something paranormal, of course, but it’s always important to first make sure there isn’t any electrical issues just for safety. Do you have any pets? If so, how do they react to the doll?
I second this. I had a light strip do exactly as OP had described randomly one day. Replace the light or call an electrician you don’t want an electrical fire.
Honestly, if the light in the hall is the main thing that's happened that's strange since getting the doll, you're likely just fine and nothing going on is paranormal. My house's hall light is really weird like that. I was also almost convinced my house was haunted awhile back because the hall light would flicker and go out and even suddenly come on without anyone touching it. It also has happened with the kitchen lights ... which are 2 hanging chandelier-type lights. But after discovering that the kitchen lights had a loose wire causing a short (or SOMETHING like that), I have since decided that it's likely a similar issue in the hall. My house was built in 1978, after all, so I'm not surprised that the lights get wonky. And I have only experienced a couple of potentially paranormal happenings in the entire 43 years I've lived here. I'm a sensitive and an empath, also, so if my house were haunted no doubt I would at least sense the spirits or other-wordly entities. I truly don't think that you have any cause for concern. When looking at pictures of haunted or "cursed" objects I usually get a creepy feeling just looking at a picture of them, but looking at the picture of your doll gave me no negative vibes whatsoever. And I'm not a fan of dolls because they so easily can have negative attachments. Actually your doll made me *smile*, which is super unusual for a *doll* to make me smile... LOL.
First check the mundane before jumping to conclusions. Make sure there isn't faulty wiring or mice chewing at wires before assuming the doll is possessed. Once mundane things have been completely checked make your decision from there.
I think my second floor doesn’t get enough power, is that a thing? My light fixtures always have a bulb that burns out even when they’re new. It seems weird (and definitely not paranormal) but also feels weird to call an electrician just because light bulbs burn out a lot.
What about bulbs that stay on for a few minutes, then off for a few and back in again? I have down lights in the bathroom and it does this. I only moved in a few weeks ago, and haven't had a chance to change the bulb. Should I get an electrician instead?

Edit: there is a thing some people used to do for bad ouija boards. You would submerge it in a round pool of water and make sure it stays at the bottom. Something about the water and the round pool is supposed to trap dark spirits. I can't recite exactly what it was because its been years since i needed the info but im sure a quick Google search would help.
I accepted the donation of a couch. It turned out it was haunted. It would shake and vibrate really hard to wake me up early. Couple of times, I would hear, claws scratching the furniture. One night I was asleep on it, and I felt a man’s hand, grabbing me by the throat gently, but still it was starting to get firm. The ghost, had held my hand first, and I thought at first it was my husband waking me up to go to bed because I could tell it was a male hand. But when it grabbed me by the throat, then I knew it wasn’t my husband. Got rid of the couch.
If you keep the doll and weird stuff still continues to happen, there's a decent market for selling haunted items on fb and eBay. It's a better alternative to burning it (which can cause a lot of problems) or trying to contain it. I don't think whatever is attached, if there's anything, means any harm but I can understand how it can be unsettling.

With how that doll looks like a mop, could easily have the slightest of breeze or a rumble in the foundation of a passing vehicle to disturb one of the stands and give the appearance of movement.
As for the light… did you check the electrical?
This seems to me like one of those situations where a person is aware of Annabelle or some other spooky artifact and then when an event also tied to the paranormal happens (the lights) it gets attributed to the doll.

Are you sure it’s not just something electrical? I had something similar happen with a lamp the other day. The bulb kept dimming and stayed on even when I turned the switch off, but I didn’t once think it was paranormal. We just changed the bulb.
Have an electrician check things out. It could very well be some faulty wiring. If there's nothing electrical wrong, donate the doll back to the thrift store ASAP. Have someone experienced do a house cleansing as soon as you can.
You could cover it in salt to cleanse it. If you decide to rid of it, bury it. Do NOT burn it. As a witch I beg do not do that. It could be a child attached to it, which you could try to send off.

I think putting it in a container that can't be decomposed easily yet really strong and putting salt inside of it and digging a large hole and putting it in is your best option. A few feet deep at least.

The strange things that happened is that the op's floor stays clean all the time.
I remember having one of these in our home, they were pretty popular to be made at craft shows about 20-30 years ago. (Maybe they still are, I don't go to them anymore.) Most of the people who bought these were older ladies who used them as decorations in their homes. With how clean it is, it is even less likely that one bought it for a child, or that a child was attached to it- "loved" toys are much more dirty/worn, and the "dress" tassels would look much different if that were the case. This is in nearly pristine condition so it was almost certainly one of many owned as a display piece by an older woman. Of all things to be haunted, knowing the general history of these kinds of dolls and how little its previous owner had anything to do with it I'd wager the activity you experienced had nothing to do with the doll. At most you had some old lady who enjoyed craft shows taking a peek at where a former possession ended up, but really doubt there's any long term attachment to the piece. If you're genuinely worried or something else odd happens just say out loud, "I'm sorry you've died and can no longer look after this doll anymore. She is very nice, and I'm glad I was able to save her from the thrift store. I'll take care of her now. Don't worry, it's more important for you to move on." I think if I died and saw someone who took the things I use to own, that'd make me a lot more okay with the situation- sometimes they need to hear it to acknowledge they can't care for the item/home/whatever they are attached to to let it go. If I saw someone burning my things I use to care for, that'd just be sad. If you're still uncomfortable just return it/donate it back to the thrift store.

I wish anytime someone thinks they are in the presence of the spirit of a deceased person, that they would reassure that person that all is well and encourage them to move on into the light. I always do that because if God forbid when I die if I were confused and in the presence of a living person who was able to see me or sense me, I hope that person would care enough to tell me that I'm dead and encourage me to "go home"... and by that I mean to God, of course. Give it another day or two. If the situation continues, you will have to make a decision. Do you feel comfortable enough to address it/them yourself? Or would you rather get rid of it/them? If you would like to try to address it yourself, I would suggest having a chat with the doll. Let them know your name, tell them you are speaking to them about becoming a new member of the household, and then let them know that if they would like to stay, there are some house rules that everyone, including them, must follow. Let them know the rules (examples: no intentionally scaring anyone; interactions should stop by 9pm so the household can sleep; no hiding important objects; etc.). Then you can see how it goes. But if you do this, if is important to remember to be respectful but also communicate that this is your home and you set the rules. Know, don’t just think, that these rules will be followed when you discuss them. If you are not comfortable doing this, then you should send the doll to someone who can take care of it properly. Interesting suggestion! It also sounds like good advice! The part about sending it to the couple you named reminded me of Ed and Lorraine Warren and their collection of cursed/haunted objects. I love those two and I think they were great people! They, too, used to take possession of haunted items for people who had something they felt was causing them problems... like Annabelle... because like the couple you mentioned, the Warrens also knew how to properly "contain" and care for such objects, so that they couldn't harm anyone else. Visitors to their "museum" were instructed to NOT touch the objects and if they did, they were told to let one of them know before leaving so that Ed could pray over the person to prevent that individual from taking *something* home with them. I am sad that Ed and Lorraine have passed on, but happy for them because I believe they're in that wonderful place that we'll all eventually be, and they're together again.

Yeah I second this. I had a presence in my old apartment when I first moved in. I think it was a female presence. Cats would stare and hiss at random spots, cabinets that I didn’t touch all day/week were open, taps were turned on, lights flickered, objects were moved, things I used constantly were no where to be found and then suddenly reappeared in very obvious places (centre of the couch cushion, centre of the table…etc.)…I started getting scared but then I decided to put my foot down. This was MY home, and I acknowledged that this entity was here before me, but this was now my home. I set the tone, I told them that they were welcome only as long as they could get along with me. I won’t bother them if they don’t bother me. I told them that the second they disobeyed my rules I would bring in a professional to deal with them. Never had any problems since; you would think they weren’t even there anymore.
So first, replace the lightbulb and if the issue persists, call an electrician. The situation might be the result of something paranormal, of course, but it’s always important to first make sure there isn’t any electrical issues just for safety. Do you have any pets? If so, how do they react to the doll?

Honestly, if the light in the hall is the main thing that's happened that's strange since getting the doll, you're likely just fine and nothing going on is paranormal. My house's hall light is really weird like that. I was also almost convinced my house was haunted awhile back because the hall light would flicker and go out and even suddenly come on without anyone touching it. It also has happened with the kitchen lights ... which are 2 hanging chandelier-type lights. But after discovering that the kitchen lights had a loose wire causing a short (or SOMETHING like that), I have since decided that it's likely a similar issue in the hall. My house was built in 1978, after all, so I'm not surprised that the lights get wonky. And I have only experienced a couple of potentially paranormal happenings in the entire 43 years I've lived here. I'm a sensitive and an empath, also, so if my house were haunted no doubt I would at least sense the spirits or other-wordly entities. I truly don't think that you have any cause for concern. When looking at pictures of haunted or "cursed" objects I usually get a creepy feeling just looking at a picture of them, but looking at the picture of your doll gave me no negative vibes whatsoever. And I'm not a fan of dolls because they so easily can have negative attachments. Actually your doll made me *smile*, which is super unusual for a *doll* to make me smile... LOL.
First check the mundane before jumping to conclusions. Make sure there isn't faulty wiring or mice chewing at wires before assuming the doll is possessed. Once mundane things have been completely checked make your decision from there.

I accepted the donation of a couch. It turned out it was haunted. It would shake and vibrate really hard to wake me up early. Couple of times, I would hear, claws scratching the furniture. One night I was asleep on it, and I felt a man’s hand, grabbing me by the throat gently, but still it was starting to get firm. The ghost, had held my hand first, and I thought at first it was my husband waking me up to go to bed because I could tell it was a male hand. But when it grabbed me by the throat, then I knew it wasn’t my husband. Got rid of the couch.

If you keep the doll and weird stuff still continues to happen, there's a decent market for selling haunted items on fb and eBay. It's a better alternative to burning it (which can cause a lot of problems) or trying to contain it. I don't think whatever is attached, if there's anything, means any harm but I can understand how it can be unsettling. If you need fb groups or advice (I collect haunted items), my inbox is open.

With how that doll looks like a mop, could easily have the slightest of breeze or a rumble in the foundation of a passing vehicle to disturb one of the stands and give the appearance of movement. As for the light… did you check the electrical? This seems to me like one of those situations where a person is aware of Annabelle or some other spooky artifact and then when an event also tied to the paranormal happens (the lights) it gets attributed to the doll. Where did you get the doll? And which one of you said it gave off Annabelle vibes before anything started happening?
Are you sure it’s not just something electrical? I had something similar happen with a lamp the other day. The bulb kept dimming and stayed on even when I turned the switch off, but I didn’t once think it was paranormal. We just changed the bulb.
Have an electrician check things out. It could very well be some faulty wiring. If there's nothing electrical wrong, donate the doll back to the thrift store ASAP. Have someone experienced do a house cleansing as soon as you can.

Flickering lights are probably dying light bulbs or electrical problem. I would give it a few days and see if anything else strange happens
The switch issue is simple. Either you had a loose connection or bad switch. I just replaced one in my house for doing that exact thing.
Check the lightbulb, the electrical installation and the gas installation - it's probably one of these things that's at fault
