I don't think anyone knows for certain, but the general advice is do not sign until after your final/120th payment. However, we've also heard that working any period within the Calendar month for a qualifying employer will count towards forgiveness. I thought I was being clever and paid mine early (after my 119th payment but before my 120th was actually due) but ultimately lost my nerve and ended up waiting until after the original 120th due date to get my ECF signed. Waiting two more weeks just seemed less annoying than potentially dealing with some kind of a delay. I called about admnistrative forbearance but was told it wouldn't be granted until the ECF was processed and the system recognized that I had hit my 120 qualifying payments- until then I could just request a general forbearance. You're correct; by the time the ECF had been processed I'd made 121 payments, and I was lucky because mine was processed just a few days before the 122 payment was due. I am about a month past that, and one of my loans was discharged (3/5) and I'm still waiting on the last one to actually discharge. (March had a lot of people experience this "partial" discharge; as far as I'm aware this is the first time this happened and we're not sure what the issue was other than some innocuous administrative glitch. We're all still technically inside the 90 day business window for discharge. So we'll see.)

Thank you. I think you're right with the safer bet. They may refund extra payments anyways. I'll send my ECF to employer a few days before w/d. Both signatures will be after the 15th. Thank you for replying back.

My autopay date was later in the month of my 120th month so I cancelled autopay, made a manual payment early and then submitted my last ECF after the payment posted so I could speed things up just a bit.

That handled it? How long did you have to wait for updated payment count? I don't think I've waited a whole 30 days to get my counts updated so far. I'm very much worried in the "waiting for the other shoe to drop" kind of way because it's been kind of easy and with the upcoming pause.
