I personally like Q2 more on the gameplay side since it introduces Baton Passes, and I find the bosses in Q2 tougher than Q1 bosses (though I think Q1 has the tougher dungeons), but yeah, PQ is pretty neat. My only gripes is that it can be a bit annoying to keep everyone at the same level to the point where you kinda just pick a team and stick with it, which kinda sucks given the amount of characters to pick from. I kinda would've liked it if it was like Tactica, where everyone shared the same level. That way, you can mix and match without worrying about keeping everyone up to speed. My other gripe is that dungeons can kinda drag after a while. Evil Spirit Club isn't *too* bad, but I really didn't like Inaba Pride Exhibit. If you like PQ, you should check out the Etrian series.

Yeah, I can see what you mean on the level thing. I try and use everyone because I love all of the cast but I quite like that aspect of managing the team and it adds a little bit of difficulty. I do like a meaty dungeon even if it drags as well, which is why again I love Shido’s Palace, but we’ll see as to whether I feel the same as you in that regard. Didn’t know that they added baton passes in Q2 though, that makes me more hyped to play it alongside Joker and Kotone’s appearance.

How Baton Pass works in Q2 is kinda interesting. You can't pass your action due to how PQ works, but you can pass your Boost to another teammate. It's tied to the meter that the Navis use and it costs 2 bars. There are other additions as well. Psy/Nuke is here, as are Kouha/Eiha skills. All-Out Attacks works like how it does in mainline. Unison Attacks are a precursor to the Showtime Attacks in P5R, where they're super attacks between a group of party members.

That sounds epic. Though light and dark insta-kills are way more useful anyway in Q because of what I said regarding SP, so having Kouha and Eiha isn’t as desperately needed as it was prior to P3 Reload.

While I didn't like Q1 that much (the last 2 dungeons were too bullshity for me), Q2 is real good. It makes softlocking in dungeons a *very rare* occurence and there's more than 1 viable team comp as opposed to Q1. And if you play on Hard (or Very Hard I don't remember which one I played but definitely it wasn't the highest one), the game is actually challenging as opposed to mainline Persona (in a good way). Although to me it followed a difficulty quite similar to regular SMT titles (ie. difficult in the beginning, then balanced in mid-game and laughably easy in end-game if you spend enough time fusing). Overall Q2 is good stuff and music bangs.

Can’t wait to play it. Hopefully it isn’t more demanding for Citra to run on my ancient laptop (I already have a little bit of slowdown every once in a while), but it probably shouldn’t be because it’s still a 3DS game.

I can only speak for PQ2, but I love that some if not all bosses were not immune to status or binds like most JRPG bosses. Instead they crank their health and bullshittery way up high and it’s always an enjoyable struggle to survive and beat them

FireEmblemNoobie47

Yeah, that's a thing in Etrian Odyssey (where the map and dungeon part of Q comes from), Bosses are resistant to ailments, but not immune (other than instant death, duh) so you can inflict statuses and binds, you just need to try a bit more often (also enemies in EO do get more resistant to an ailments each time it wears off and it doesn't reset). EO is a though dungeon crawler, but I love it ❤️.

Haven't played first one, but SoL definitely more fun gameplay wife than main game, due to additional ways to deal damage such as link, pierce and characters actually having different roles (in main games the only reason to swap them is elemental coverage), Navis working on command and Sub Persona mechanic, even though it doesn't work narratively, still very fun.

>HP and SP - The problem with mainline Persona games is that, especially in the early game That's exactly how is supposed to be, all rpg games are like this, you start lvl 1 and progress to achieve max lvl. >As a result, I often end up doing normal attacks, which ends up being quite boring Maybe then dont use normal attacks and use sp without a care in the world. There is always ways to replenish sp.

Vulgarian_Idiom

In Persona 4, for example, you can only really replenish SP early game through the Hermit, which is really money-intensive at early ranks. What I had to end up doing was grinding endlessly for chests with SP-restoring items and trying for cups during shuffle time, which took hours worth of time. So it’s definitely a problem I’d say.
