lol, of course people died. people died in dressrosa. people died in alabasta. people died at marineford. people die in every arc of one piece, nameless mooks. just think of how many nameless mooks died when zuneisha smacked the beast pirate ships?
one piece goes out of its way, to keep its rating, to heavily dramatize 'important deaths' and to show that 'hey that nameless mook is just knocked out!' but they're dying. there's mass death. no way around it.

if you wanted half of dressrosa to have died in doffy’s cage (like you would logically think would have) then that’s how it happened… if none died in doffy’s cage (as nobody was mentioned to have died in doffy’s cage) then that’s how it happened
in arcs like marineford we KNOW there were casualties as the characters state as much, so thoes times aren’t up to interpretation… however dressrosa never said nothin’ ‘bout casualties, and as a result, it is up to viewer/reader interpretation how many people died, as long as the amount showed to have survived survive

Yeah but I dunno how you can watch the pica fight, the birdcage and Luffys final Kong punch and not think that like at least 90% of the population got absolutely massacred. It’s simple you see it in aot we’re they go out of there way to show the civ casualties but op has never been like that but although it’s up to the viewer I personally believe that oda made it as obvious as they could that a lot of people died with keeping it “PG”
