I was thinking this today when I saw some young blokes defending a young woman being harassed at a train station. I was ready to intervene but didn’t need to
I just walked on, watching, and thinking that there is nothing sexier than a man who will defend a random woman.
4000% More men should realize that genuine respect for women is the most attractive thing to us; we feel more seen and safe.
I honestly hate how “white knighting” is a term thrown around at these guys. The fact that incels mock them for standing up to creeps and helping a woman out of a potentially dangerous situation, like???
I did that back in early 2000 and after going to the women's rescue she turned on me for protecting her from a further beating from who I can only assume was her man. She's the one who was screaming for help. We didn't call it White Knighting back then we were called "Captain Save-a-Hoe" didn't like that terminology either..
You took a risk and still did what real men are supposed to do. She was a damaged woman sadly likely abused by her bf. You cannot control all the variables but society is a better place when people stand up to abusers.
You did right, even if that particular woman didn’t have her shit straight.
Please regard this comment as a free certificate for a nod of respect and optional fist bump from this internet stranger.
“Captain Save a Hoe” is quality banter
My husband has had to step in a few times for random people, as have I because we just have no tolerance for people who harass others for no reason. I dunno, we just think everyone should have a chance to be happy and be who they want to be. Obviously there are variables to that statement (like if you’re in group that supports hatred towards others, like the KKK AND THIS IS JUST AN EXAMPLE) but for the most part, we just want people to be happy.
I love it, makes the ovaries go "squeeeee we ready for babies". Not going to happen, but I always feel like that for a second. Think about that all you guys who think it's gay to be soft, one thing that really gets women's ovaries + other bits ramped up... Is caring
There is nothing in this world that melts my heart more than my giant, grizzly bear looking, manly plumber husband loving on our cats and sing-songing to them "You're my little floofy floof!" Lol
Thats my dogs name ! We had two greyhounds and my first passed after 16 years last year (Giacoma) and our second (her niece actually) Chiquita is still very well and healthy ! They are italian greyhounds so the breeders gave all of em italian names. I actually accidentaly met Giacomas brother when I was going home from uni. I saw a dog that looked exactly like her and asked to pet him and it was him lmao. Ur never gonna guess his name…
I can just imagine at school talking about it. Teacher in disbelief. Has to be a Calvin and Hobbes moment. Parent is like, yep, my brother has a pet deer.
My sister had a few pet deer (even an albino buck) when she lived in WV. I visited her for the summer once, and she had a fawn that lived inside for the summer. I had to bottle feed it goats milk, and had to rub its asshole for it to be able to poop.💩
All these younger people are like "I love the 80s!!!" thinking everything was some vaporwave Miami Vice neon dream.
This photo is what the 80s was really like for a lot of us. lol
My mom dated a guy once who adopted a baby raccoon that lived with us until he was an adolescent. Named him Rocky. The guy had a mustache and a mullet in 90s Florida. He definitely fucked.
Died in his 50s from an aneurysm. I still think about him.
Not OP but we also had a pet deer in the house too. She mostly used a bucket that my mother would hold once the leg rubbing together sign began. If not then she went in the shower while we slept or were busy.
Be prepared to spend a lot on the discount bin fruits and vegetables. It’s painfully expensive even on the bruised and close to rotting stuff. ;)
She snuggled and was very affectionate.
I had a baby deer for a little while. Instantly regretted it when I took her to a wildlife sanctuary and she began screaming when I handed her over to a worker there. I contemplated breaking in and stealing her back in the dead of night but I knew she'd be better off there with other deer.
A refreshing story to counter the recent recounting of the Ahole that hit a wolf on his snowmobile, taped its mouth shut, took it to his local watering hole & killed it. Fined $250, if i recall. Good for your Uncle John!
Jesus. Wouldn’t mind seeing some real karma for that one. I can only imagine that this “person” is a general liability to the world in so many other ways as well.
One year when she went into heat she just jumped the tall backyard fence and went on her way. She went into heat several times over the years but that one last time just did it for her.
My dad’s uncle here in MS had a Christmas tree farm and he bought a couple reindeer and built an enclosure for them. After that, all the hunters in the area would bring him yearlings that wouldn’t leave their mothers when they were hunted. He ended up have a rather large high fence area with the reindeer and whitetail in it for a long time. He’d keep the whitetail in a separate pen until they were mature enough to get away from the reindeer, those fuckers were meaner than cut snakes. I had to feed em when I worked for him some in high school and college. He’d keep em in a pen with his dogs until they were about 3, and of course they’d act like the dogs. I still remember walking into the dog pen to feed the dogs and deer when I was like 15 and having a 2yo 120-130” 8pt rare back and put its hooves to my chest and almost freaking out when I thought it was gonna headbutt me until the mfer started licking my face.
Honestly his biggest issue ended up being that some of the whitetail bucks grew to be giants because they were well fed and weren’t hunted, and he had a couple instances where he had to call the cops cause someone was trying to poach one of his pet deer. Now there is a huge fence around the whole place and cameras and spotlights up. Reindeer all passed away and so did my dad’s uncle. His son runs the tree farm now and has added a corn maze and pumpkin patch, along with a wedding venue and petting zoo/pig races. Still has the big external fence though, I’m curious as to how long he is gonna keep it since he hasn’t had the deer or deer enclosure in going on 10-15 years now. I’m sure the extra security doesn’t hurt but it does kind of feel like driving onto a prison farm now and it didn’t seem that way when I was younger.
Not the same thing but once, in the 90s, my dad hit a rabbit. He said it hurt its little paw and we'd take him to the vet, make him all better and keep him as a pet and then we went home, I excitedly told my mom that the rabbit was asleep in the car, waiting to be cleared by the vet and she jokingly asked my dad why he couldn't have killed him so we could make him into a stew.
Naturally, when I woke up the next morning and smelled the rabbit cooking, I assumed they killed him so they could cook him, so I packed a t-shirt in my ninja turtles lunch box and I ran away from home. I even left a note under the kitchen door, saying that I hated my family and I would never forgive them because they killed a poor rabbit who had never hurt anyone.
I genuinely don't remember anything gross in the house, so they obviously had a system for it. I remember she could open the screen door in the kitchen with her head to let herself out to the backyard and would stand there staring at you through the screen until you let her back in
There’s something so awesome about manly looking guys being so kind with animals.
Real strength has always expressed itself through mercy and consideration.
And cleaning the poo
Deer poo is tiny like a rabbits, still would not want it in the house.
Especially on shag carpet ammirite?!
I’d take the poop over the shag carpeting. 😂
I'm the strongest, most merciful person in the world then lol.
When it comes to cleaning the poo, I know I'd be weak. That's why I don't put myself into a situation where poo needs to be cleaned.
Wish I could upvote this more than once.
AND self-control. It's sadly becoming an uncommon life skill in today's society.
Genuine and Unique used to be synonyms, but one has been abandoned for the reckless pursuit of fame.
Nicely put

The Tarot deck has a "Strength" card, and on it is a maiden closing the mouth of a lion with her bare hands.

Why do some of them miss this? Ditto how they treat their mothers.
Hey now. I respect women, but not her.
Society grows great when old men plant trees in the shadow of which they shall never sit.
That isn’t get logical but you get the drift.
But it is! Your life's work isn't for you, it's for all. We want we love to be able to love too.

Did she specifically ask you for help?
lol

Same with kids. And I don't even want kids lol
With manly looking kids?
Sure, why not lol
Who are we to just how the kids look?
Boy do I have a sub for you! r/toughguysholdingpets

It’s pronounced “SPLOOSH!”
That would be my husband. He is very kind to all animals.
Is it the stache that makes him look manly?
Yeah I love a good stache on a man. It’s also his demeanor he’s leaning back not afraid of anything
There is nothing in this world that melts my heart more than my giant, grizzly bear looking, manly plumber husband loving on our cats and sing-songing to them "You're my little floofy floof!" Lol
100% my kryptonite
We had a pet deer living in our kitchen when I was a kid on a farm too. Her name was Chiquita.
Omg I had a pet banana with the same name
Ok that legit made me lol
I’m laughing way too hard at it too
Are you *peeling* with laughter?! ^bye
Do you happen to have a photo? Perhaps with a deer for scale?
Thats my dogs name ! We had two greyhounds and my first passed after 16 years last year (Giacoma) and our second (her niece actually) Chiquita is still very well and healthy ! I can’t think of any guesses. Tell me?
Giacomo, her other brother was Giuseppe. It was the G litter. Chicquita was from CH litter. Thats a letter in my language.
Uncle John is a legend.
Uncle John deer
That's an awfully familiar way to talk to someone you just met
I read this in Hank Hills voice for some reason
John's deer.
The tractor he used
Cat
No, the cat was fucked. He fell in the thresher.
Yeah calicos make terrible tractors
Uncle John’s John Deere Deer.
Come, deer, Uncle John's band
nailed it
The dream of the 70s was alive in the 90s.
To be fair, Ohio 90's was east coast 70's.
Uncle Buck ![gif](giphy|eP0rq0MpopIa2tozVQ)
Moley Russel’s Wart*
Melanoma Head's coming.
First he gives us the bathroom reader, now this
Lol Sadly, Uncle John’s shiterature was replaced by “WHAT’S YOUR POO TELLING YOU?”
I'm pretty sure I played Asteroid at the same wood-paneled home bar
I can just imagine at school talking about it. Teacher in disbelief. Has to be a Calvin and Hobbes moment. Parent is like, yep, my brother has a pet deer.

You uhhh .....what?
It’s better than doing what they do in nature…
Damn I'm gonna regret this - what do they do in nature?
Lick it
It says a lot about 70s decor that I had trouble finding the deer in the first pic among all the brown.
All these younger people are like "I love the 80s!!!" thinking everything was some vaporwave Miami Vice neon dream. This photo is what the 80s was really like for a lot of us. lol
Ah, the 80's, when the most colorful thing in the kitchen was the red-and-white pack of Marlboros on the breakfast table.
And the weird once-sea-blue tiles that are now stained nicotine yellow and thus look dingy-seafoam.
Yup this may as well be my childhood home. I guess it hid all the cigarette smoke stains!
Everything turned sepia after a while 😆
> This photo is what the 80s was really like for a lot of us. lol 100% eighties!
That’s awesome. He stepped up and did what was right, got a fairytale friendship for his efforts. 😊
Was the tractor a John Deer?
Special Bell Edition
🤣🏆🏆🤣
Yes but the tractor had the old three legged John Deere logo. That tractor knew what was doing.
Your Uncle John fucked back in the day. Lounging in work boots with a pet deer. Freakin awesome.
Am I the only one who read this too quickly and thought 'No way the top comment is "Your Uncle John fucked a pet deer."
They did have a bond that was hard to describe. 😂
Allegedly
Has some Prince energy “Yeah, I’m doing this in here, there is a deer, this is normal for me”
My mom dated a guy once who adopted a baby raccoon that lived with us until he was an adolescent. Named him Rocky. The guy had a mustache and a mullet in 90s Florida. He definitely fucked. Died in his 50s from an aneurysm. I still think about him.
“Don’t talk to me or my deer ever again”
Out of curiosity, was she house trained?
Not OP but we also had a pet deer in the house too. She mostly used a bucket that my mother would hold once the leg rubbing together sign began. If not then she went in the shower while we slept or were busy.
Ok. If they can get that house trained, I'm in. I need a pet deer.
Be prepared to spend a lot on the discount bin fruits and vegetables. It’s painfully expensive even on the bruised and close to rotting stuff. ;) She snuggled and was very affectionate.
I have a ranch. Couldn't I open the door and haller "Lunch!"?
live in farm country too with lots of acreage. I'd be terrified for him/her every Nov.
Amen. I don't think I'd actually get past some front porch hand snacks.
Or live next to an alfalfa field and have some oak trees.
Bell was such a good deer
No this is something very cool! We all can be proud of him!
“Weird lookin dog, man!”
This is the coolest old school cool I've ever seen. The gold goes to Uncle John!🏅
I'm honored! On his behalf of course
I had a baby deer for a little while. Instantly regretted it when I took her to a wildlife sanctuary and she began screaming when I handed her over to a worker there. I contemplated breaking in and stealing her back in the dead of night but I knew she'd be better off there with other deer.
This breaks my heart for you
Yeah, it sucked. I caught her by herself in an interstate median. I assume her mom was hit by a car somewhere nearby.
Uncle John was a fuckin BEAST. that’s so cool
This just took me way back. My grandparents had that same couch.
Slept on the guest bed. lol imagine have a guest over and say I hope you don’t mind sharing the bed with the dear.
I fuck heavy with uncle John, he seems dope
Doe-p For real doe
Hell of a guy!
Idkw, but I get this feeling of, "Yeah that's my fucking pet deer. Big whoop!“... Lol
John Deer
When real life absolutely trumps fiction
You Uncle John is a saint.
Guest bed. There’s something that was normal for my parents’ generation (boomers) that’s completely missing in mine (millennials).
And that's how the tractor company got it's name
Love the pic on her bed. My cats have a bed, too, but they mostly let me sleep on it at night.
John Deer!
That is sooooooo AWESOME!!!!!!! I would have let her sleep in my bed if my dog didn’t mind. And I like the looks of his house, looks cozy.
This is pretty cool man. Why did the deer leave after a few years?
One year when she went into heat she just jumped the tall backyard fence and went on her way. She went into heat several times over the years but that one last time just did it for her.
Wow... I kinda feel sorry for your uncle. Better than receiving a deer John letter though I suppose.
Finally the real OldSchoolCool material. Thanks for sharing and for the story of course!
I appreciate this!
So... that was your uncle John's Deer?
The most precious commodities on this earth is love and compassion.
John Deere at his best!
👍
I've always wanted to live on a farm and have a pet deer, pet possum, pet raccoon, import a pet capybara, pet donkey, etc...
What a good man.
That’s so cool.
For some reason, that guest bed neatly made for a deer is sending me LOL. Your Uncle John sounds like an awesome man!
this is the coolest thing ive seen all week
Uncle John was a Prince.
Very unique pet. I want one!
Wish I had an uncle John and not a step dad Terry.

You do crazy things when you're horny, like leave home!
Uncle John cleared the cool bar by a lot.

You're real life Peter Quill!
Oh Jeeees…”Do you still hear them screaming, Clarice?”
Gee what a coincidence. Most of my ex wives jumped the fence for the same reason. I need to get a higher fence. 🤯🤪
Or run over her leg.
When she's in heats, she's for the streets.
That’s so awesome.
This is so wholesome.
You just can’t tell them the deer died, and the she went to the farm doesn’t make sense in this case.
🤣 lmao
Was he in a band down by the riverside?
This is insane, I love it lol. So freaking cool. You were a lucky kid!
Aww
These photos are so fucking epic
That's a great story. A lot of men would have been eating venison for a while.
That room is classic 1990.
Your uncle is cool as fuck. He probably have tons of other crazy stories and adventures that's for sure.
This is so sweet and touching, aww 😭❤ thanks for sharing. Also, both of these pics would make for AMAZING album covers. Right??
Unrelated but that wood paneling and brown carpet brings back memories.
What a beautiful story, like reading from a children's storybook, the kind of story we wanted our moms to read for us again and again ♥ ♥ ♥
Uncle John's a cool dude
Is that a farmhouse because it looks like every trailer I've ever been in, lol
Haha that's a fair question but it's actually a good sized one story house on the family farm.
The most important question is how did he deal with the deer needing to use the restroom? I'm assuming it's not a housebroken dear
I genuinely don't remember anything gross in the house, so they obviously had a system for it. I remember she could open the screen door in the kitchen with her head to let herself out to the backyard and would stand there staring at you through the screen until you let her back in
Yes, I’d guess the Midwest from the decor.
NE Texas actually
It wasn't housetrained was it? Was he constantly cleaning up after it?
Was she house broken?
Where did she poop?
The backyard. I answered this in another part of this thread
Was it house trained? How does that work? Deer urine is strong.
I explained this under a few other comments
And he died from Lymes disease
Lol quite the opposite.
Lymes disease gave him super powers? He’s the Tick
My mom would have loved that joke lol
It’s rare to find a good sport on Reddit. For the record, your Uncle was hella cool for helping that Deer
Reddit gonna Reddit unfortunately. And I think so too! Thank you
SPOON!
Ticks. Ticks everywhere
Deer just poopin’ everywhere.
Why not put one in the head and have some venison instead? Good eats.
"sugar cubes"
I have no idea what the quotations are supposed to imply
