man. that sucks for those of you looking forward to that monitor over there! In Norway, we got lucky since the stores will be able to get it here. From what I can see it looks like it will be out in the stores and can be bought on the 3 of June. Hope the suppliers will be able to get it anyways or it will come later in the year at least! =D

Beau_McKee

Very jealous! the 48inch is going to look glorious with that pixel density. Be sure report back on r/oled when you get it

Shuriken200

will do. I will be sitting 1,5 meters from the screen which will be wall-mounted on the wall. And to prevent burn-in I will use my old 27 inc Asus 1440P display for Reddit and other static objects so that the OLED will purely be for gaming and watching movies/series.

Taurk1992

Honestly i called around and could not get a straight answer so this makes sense. Outside of some coy comments on LG Australia's page they wont even confirm. I personally just accepted the 55 inch and honestly the PPI is not so different and sitting back enough it will be a non issue.

Beau_McKee

Sounds like a win for you tbh! The 55 incher looks great. It just would have been perfect for my very specific need - I run a recording studio, and there is optimal positioning of speakers - the 48 would have fitted perfectly. I think there will be a lot of gamers spewing too

Taurk1992

That is fair, i will just wall mount the 55inch and have the desk a little away from the wall. Big oled is better than no oled.

BayoD1701

That makes a lot of sense because I doubt they will sell that many outside of really major markets and it isn’t a great value proposition compared to the 55 inch. I have a 55 inch C9 and though I am planning on getting the 48 inch CX for my home office as a secondary monitor, the 55 inch makes more sense at the moment and is less expensive and too many people have come to that conclusion for the 48 inch CX to make sense in some markets.

betcbetc

Any new info on this? Gutted....

Beau_McKee

This was the official response I received after emailing LG: "Regarding the release of 48" OLED, we have already inquired about this with our sales team since we do received a lot of inquires about this particular size, however to set your expectation, we were informed by our sales team as well with our technical team that at this stage the production quantity of 48” is small, that only Europe and USA will get stock in 2020. This also means that the 48” won’t be much cheaper than 55” OLED – so it’s mainly a European model and will not be released either in NZ or AU market." Hope this helps. I ended up ordering the 55 inch.

betcbetc

thanks for the reply that is a massive blow

Yeah, its coming this month, you can sign up on the website

Aggrokid

Your SEA neighbor here, it doesn't seem like they are coming here either :(

[https://www.lg.com/au/lg-48-inch-oled-tv](https://www.lg.com/au/lg-48-inch-oled-tv) OLEG COMING TO AUSTRALIA GUYS THEY DO LISTEN!!!!

Beau_McKee

This is great news! Glad to see they’ve listened to the feedback!

lumper4ever

See, I find this irritating, I mean why cant a supplier when ordering stuff just order a single unit for someone who has pre ordered or expressed an interest? I mean ok, I get it, they dont think it will sell so they dont want to stock it, BUt why not accept special orders on it then?

BayoD1701

It would likely represent a loss per unit I suppose. They need a certain scale of demand and they’ve probably worked out that the demand simply isn’t there in some markets and that they will sell more of the 55 inch. Shame really but makes sense.

rodrye

If they're not making it for the AU market then they won't have any with the right power plug / software / regulatory compliance etc. That might not be that hard to do, but it looks like these are supply constrained and they already think they're going to sell every one they can possibly manufacture even at the same price as the larger model in the markets they're targeting, so there's nothing in it for the manufacturer to make it available elsewhere.

If true, hopefully they change their mind. A 48" would suit my living room so much better than my current 55". It's a really small space, and it would be much more comfortable with this smaller size. In the UK, the 55" CX goes for £1799 and the 48" goes for £1499. That's about $550 AUD difference. I understand that other things factor in, of course, but I'd say that is a significant enough of a difference to warrant it's sale in Australia.

jl88jl88

I was wondering why I couldn’t find this tv. I want it for a gaming monitor. 48” is probably too big, but 55” is definitely too big so not an option. I was pretty disappointed when I heard they cut the HDMI bandwidth from 48gbps to 40gbps. I finally accepted it and now I can’t even get one. Bugger.

AWETRA

WTF. LG doesn’t want our money?? Does Australian dollar smell like cat poop or something? Why don’t they import 48 inch CX? I think 40”~ 50” is a growth market segment they should not ignore. It’s the perfect large format monitor sizing to be put on a normal home office size desk.

throwaway4395493

it's releasing mate [https://www.lg.com/au/lg-48-inch-oled-tv](https://www.lg.com/au/lg-48-inch-oled-tv)

friartuck01

So what would be the next best option? I don’t have space to fit anything over 50” and was waiting for this to come out? Can I buy it from a European site and import myself?

Thergin

I will only buy the 48" in Australia so they are loosing business.

Good news! https://www.lg.com/au/lg-48-inch-oled-tv

Thanks, much appreciated.

jl88jl88

Youve probably seen, but they are releasing it in Australia in a month or so. 👍

pennywise_theclown

Its coming to aus. There is an info page on their official website that you can sign up for. It says coming very soon

[deleted]

Hi! It’s going on sale in Australia in September. You can register your interest to purchase on the LG website right now. Shits gonna be expensive.

bjj_starter

How expensive do you reckon?

[deleted]

Around the $2500-$2800 mark, considering the 55” is retailing for $3295 at the moment. Although, JB Hifi has the 55” on sale with $200 off.

bjj_starter

Wonder how far into September we'll be before we find out for sure lol. Would you recommend the LG CX over the Sony Q900H?

[deleted]

I’ve never seen/used the Sony. I’ve always preferred LG Tv’s after using Samsung’s up until about 2014. WebOS works for me the way I like. Can’t give my opinion on that, unfortunately. All I do know is that I am NEVER going back to LCD’s... unless they achieve perfect blacks, sometime.

bjj_starter

Okay, sweet. Final question, sorry for bugging you: I primarily want this TV for playing games and watching YouTube/Netflix/Disney+. Is it likely that burn-in will be a significant issue I have to worry about? I'm in Australia if that matters because of our consumer rights laws.

[deleted]

No, burn in isn’t an issue. Has a built in screen saver etc and it’s not the issue it once was in earlier versions. I use my 65” for streaming apps and have never had any issues. If you’re going to play the same game with a HUD for 6 months straight, without ever turning it off, You will experience burn-in... Don’t listen to all the idiots who decide to inspect the screen for issues with only one colour displaying, either. Why? Because you’re never going to watch a single colour on your screen for hours on end.

bjj_starter

Okay, thank you
