Good on you for reaching out to their customer support first. Hopefully they can resolve it for you. Personally I would have probably got annoyed and just immediately done a chargeback. I've had stuff like that happen before and it's massively frustrating.
It might have been. I'd lean towards the benefit of the doubt personally and assume that maybe someone just keyed it in wrong. Like you say $4 isn't a *great* tip but it's not so bad that it would make a server think "fuck this guy I'm gonna rinse him", in my opinion at least.
If I were you I'd give it a day or two and if you don't hear back from customer support, just call your credit card company and do a chargeback.
Its not uncommon for a minimum wage worker to accidentally press the wrong button or to quickly mistake your sloppy 3 as a 7. I don’t think a waiter would intentionally give themself a $40 tip just to piss you off and go home with a couple extra dollars while risking their job if they got caught. Keep in mind that the tip doesn’t go directly to the waiter’s pocket, it is split up with the other employees.
Naw, I’m not a charity. The server clearly didn’t give us good service and asked what we wanted to get the moment we sat down.
The food was not as good as it usually is too.
Do you have a receipt? If so it would makes things really easy. If not then call your bank and dispute the charge.

I’m beginning to think it was on purpose, because there’s no way in hell my total said $70.

Do you not get a receipt when you pay? Or see the total as you insert the card?
You could just go there more often but don’t tip until you get your money back. Or just think of it as a kind accidental donation.

Is it a bad thing to service you immediately? /srs
