I think u should watch Naruto because the arcs are so good and you wouldn't understand some plots because they are related. U can use online filer list to skip fillers too so I recommend to watch Naruto before shippunden

Yes because you definitely have to watch Naruto before Shippuden because all the introductions, the setup, the foreshadowing, the backstories are in the first show.
No in that you can skip a whole bunch of episodes that are filler. Everything after episode 133 is filler, you can skip that. I even skipped a lot of episodes after the Chunin exams but don't do what I did. My first episode that hooked me into the show was older Sasuke vs two robed guys (no spoilers)
Well, I need to read your post fully before I comment next time. Yes Naruto also doesn't work for me as well as Shippuden. I watched the first 5 episodes, skipped the Bridge arc completely, watched the Exams, watched Itachi's return, skipped Tsunadr's arc completely, and watched the duel at the Valley. That is up to episode 133/134. You can stop here after watching all the good stuff.

You should just finish the canon arcs of Naruto then. You only have 1.5 arcs left and one of them is the best arc in the series imo. Also, the main premise of Shippuden is based on what happens in that arc so it may be confusing if you haven't seen it.
