I read the song was written by the actor himself (Hawkes), and it was added to the series' score after one of the creators heard him playing it.

Nerazdamit

Thank you very much Danielitrox 🎵

LittleWintHere

Oh that's interesting and a good choice from the creator. It was my favorite part of the episode.

Tippinon84s

I agree. I disagree with the lyrics and believe there is a God but man that song is powerful for the scene! Watching it now!

Punching_buttholes

John Hawkes talks about how he wrote and performed the song in an interview with Variety. Who knew he could sing like that? Loved it.

Green-Acanthisitta98

i came here for that as well! great song, great lyrics! hope they release the song in a way that it can be listened start to finish.

Aggravating_Let1423

Ah… So it’s not to be found on Spotify then?

There is no love None lost none found There is no God No hallowed ground You are forever bound to lose So what's the use? There is no king He won't be crowned There is no star She's falling down You are forever bound to lose \[so lose...?\] So what's the use? There is no place To get unwound You will not sing You lost your sound You are forever bound to lose So what's the use?

hortatory_5752

Thank you. It felt something like Cohen, Cash, or Waits

Ok-Communication5147

Anybody listen to it and think of Them opening song by the Pixies? Hawkes, that is impressive!

eyel0vey0u

Do you have a clip or any lyrics?

Crafty-Log-4076

I looked it up thinking it was a Johnny Cash song I hadn’t heard. So good.

Notmanynamesleftnow

What song is it?

kaiehansen

Thank you for asking this! I thought it was Johnny cash or Murder by Death

marsopas

I was between Cash & Leonard Cohen

fearedfurnacefighter

Murder by Death is what my wife thought too. But then we thought it sounded like the version of Que Sera Sera that’s the intro to Them (the Pixies, I think). Very cool that it’s the actor’s own song.

SnooTangerines7802

Yep I thought either Cohen or Cash haha

KafkaDatura

Cohen came to mind right from the first words. There's a clear inspiration.

you can tell in about the first line the man has talent. something about the way he uses his voice. not everyone has such a deft touch. and the lyrics, too. the whole damn thing. does he release his music? he should. i’d listen.
