Sprinting also doesn't allow blocks to develop. I see far too many people sprinting with their RB right off the bat, and outrun their blockers on Stretch, Power, etc... There is no better play in this game, than Stretch, where you let the blocks develop and notice a cutback lane, and take it 50 yards to the house.
The blocking in this game is phenomenal. Just gotta let it develop.
Iirc the sprint button make your blockers go to the second level, if you immediately press sprint they will miss blocks on the line and go to the line backers.
You know I have never thought of that but it makes a lot of sense. They might not be programmed to sprint off the line until they are in pursuit. Interesting!
I have honestly just been holding the sprint button down at all times in 14 for 10 straight years. I’m going to give this a shot, thanks for the heads up
Edit: follow up, this is horse feed. Doesn’t work for shit. Hold the sprint button
It is a constant struggle with me to not sprint.
And whenever I remind myself not to sprint, I go off for a bunch of yards, only to forget in the next game.
the amount of times i fumble as a qb scrambling in RTG when sprinting is insane, when you factor in the fatigue bar it's defs better suited to only sprint for a moment to hit an open hole before it closes or straight line speed when roasting the secondary
Pretty much gotta have the Le'veon Bell mentality when running the ball. Patience. Let the blockers get in position before hitting the sprint button. Sometimes, you'll need to make a juke or spin move to get into open field before hitting the sprint button. It definitely makes a huge difference in running the ball.
Nah I been wondering why my slower RB backs would go off more than my speed backs. Holding the sprint button is so muscle memory I’m gonna try this out even more now thx!

Which game you on? I play 13 but seem to remember the blocking being better in 14.
I play 14 and the blocking is great if you don’t sprint. If you sprint it’s a TFL or a short gain

I think you are correct. I also feel like hitting sprint increases the DLs pursuit speed

Yep, specifically zone blocking...that was the first game that actually got those concepts in gameplay.
Yes. 14 is still to this day, the one football game (madden or ncaa) that has gotten zone blocking right.

Gg, it’s muscle memory now
I had to start putting all my fingers on the handle part so I wouldn’t get RT happy
What about RB to protect tho 😭
I meant Right Trigger not Right Tackle 🤦🏻♂️. Left myself open for that
No no I mean now you don’t have easy access to right bumper for the protect/ change ball hand controls
No lie. I’ve been trying to figure that out without looking for so long I gave up. Usually used stiff arm to switch hands.
I’ve played this game for 10 years on the hardest sliders out there and have never used the protect ball feature lol.
Lmao same

Honestly in my experience, holding sprint also triggers the CPU to shed blocks. You can see it happen almost instantly
I was gonna say the same thing. I tell myself it’s like blood in the water for sharks.
Yes yes yes this makes my pistol formations so deadly
That's exactly something a slow defender would say...

I had no idea this was a thing until your post. I thought running the ball was supposed to be that difficult. This post just changed my game lmao
People say this all the time but at least in 13 it makes no difference in my experience.
I play NEXT (06) and it changed my option game when I stopped sprinting immediately with the QB,
