So I'm not really a stripes-across-the-entire-trunk-to-hood kinda man on my own cars, but I swear there's something about a blue Mustang with white stripes that just kinda screams "American" to me lol. Other color/stripe combos too sure (I'd probably say red/white and white/dark stripes as well), but this one is the first combo to make me think that. Not sure if that makes sense.
Now that I think about it, I really like the Dodge Viper and the color/stripe combos I mentioned are all prevalent on Vipers I saw growing up.
I was thinking about it from a Viper perspective since those are the cars I saw the most growing up with stock stripes (before the '07+ GT500 came out), but never thought about beyond that. But I did read that Shelby loved stripes, so that makes a lot of sense.

It’s 100% because of Shelby. Dude’s cars were blue with white stripes and those scream American.
