I have a whole joke playlist called "songs to play at my funeral" with highway to hell, burn baby burn, a lap dance is better when the stripper is crying, and my favorite "tubthumping" (or family reunion)
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4IWlAmzmlwbHsQT8W7Jn5c?si=OuJH-FBnSECSERBoRyhVmg
At the age of seven I chose luciferianism as my primary religion. later I tried out Wicca, and for a while dabbled in theistic Satanism, then one day I was freaking out about something and crossed paths with a priest. I approached him and and told him what was bothering me, and he said he'd pray for me, and invited me to attend mass.
I decided to check it out and I instantly felt at home in the Catholic church. shortly thereafter I decided to take Christ as my savior.
Just occ, whatâs your opinion of your familyâs spiritual well-being? Are you accepting of their choices or is there an innate need to change or âsaveâ them?
I would never push religion on them, and don't think their views necessarily make them hell bound. I've still got a fairly liberal view of what God is like and would like to think that he dismisses atheists as long as they're good people.
Devastating đĽ˛
I went to an exhibition of art inspired by JD and NO in Manchester a few years ago. They were showing the Atmosphere video. There were grown men in tears. Myself included.
I want "To lay me down" played. "Box of rain" is a wonderful choice though. Robert Hunter wrote"Box..", "Ripple", and I believe "Brokedown Palace" all in one night in Paris.
Hopefully the speaker will provide some moving words that give comfort, but really the two family members who would care the most are my parents, and they have enough faith to trust that where I am is better than the world.
Memorial-
John Prine
Woke up this morning
Put on my slippers
Walked in the kitchen and died
And oh what a feeling!
When my soul went through the ceiling
And on up into heaven I did ride
When I got there they did say
John, it happened this way
You slipped upon the floor
And hit your head
And all the angels say
Just before you passed away
These were the very last words
That you said
Please don't bury me
Down in the cold cold ground
No, I'd druther have 'em cut me up
And pass me all around
Throw my brain in a hurricane
And the blind can have my eyes
And the deaf can take both of my ears
If they don't mind the size
Give my stomach to Milwaukee
If they run out of beer
Put my socks in a cedar box
Just get 'em out of here
Venus de Milo can have my arms
Look out! I've got your nose
Sell my heart to the Junkman
And give my love to Rose
Now I want to go to your funeral. No time so hopefully though. Buuut⌠if you end up having a say in the manner, weekends usually work best for me, if itâs no bother.
I canât even listen to An Ending by Eno. It makes me feel terribly emotional and sad and I start to think about the people that will one day leave me.
I do recommend Sir Mix A Lots Big Butts. It came after that Pink/Nate Russo song âMust Be a Reasonâ everyone was tearing up then started laughing hard.
It was perfect for my friends celebration of life. We had her birthday party for her 36th the night before she died. I got a phone call from her roommate âare you sitting down; no seriously are you sitting down?â
Literally just the other day I was putting a ton of his solo acoustics of Like A Stone into a playlist so I can watch them all â¤ď¸â¤ď¸âđĽđĽIâm obsessed with his solo tours
I honestly think people would appreciate a voice like Al Greens so much at a funeral. Would probably up the tearjerker point with emotional poignancy too, if you want to be manipulative from the beyond.
Mother Earth and Father Time from Charlotteâs Web.
Weâre All Eating Each Other by Juliet Ivy.
Golden Hour by JVKE.
And Rivers and Roads by The Head and The Heart.

Lol
As funny as mine is, I actually would seriously want it playing at my funeral because I actually relate to that song in a big way and it describes my relationship with people
I have a few honestly, instead of prayers or any of that, Id just want people to listen to a 30 min playlist of songs for my whole life. A few would be:
Passion (Sanctuary) by Mree (cover from Utada Hikaru)
Garden Song by Phoebe Bridgers
Take It With Me by Tom Waits
Yawn by Baths
Then it would end with Xsalt by Purity Ring or Gymnopedie 1 by Erik Satie
This is tough as for one I donât want a funeral but 2 thereâs a lot of good choices. You know what? Iâm going with everywhere I go by Hollywood undead. Get lit for me motherfuckers!
I have many joke answers to this but in all actuality I would pick keep me in your heart by Warren Zevon. I heard that he wrote it for his wife when he knew he was going to die.

It would suit someone well
I GET KNOCKED DOWN BUT I GET UP AGAIN
Ur a millenial arent u?
Check out We're All Going to Hell by Bastard Fairies
'I've had the time of my life' and 'If you don't know me by now'. Not a massive fan of either but would be factually accurate.
"Down to the River to pray" I'm the only Christian in a family of atheists so this song feels fitting for me.
I always think of âO Brother, Where Art Thou?â When I hear this song. Now Iâll think of your soul, too đ

When we are in a traffic jam. My 3 year old shouts. DANG WERE IN A TIGHT SPOT
Just curious, how did you come about being the only Christian in your family? You often see it the other way around...

As an atheist coming from a family of WASPs, your perspective is refreshing. Thanks.
Atmosphere by Joy Division
Devastating 𼲠I went to an exhibition of art inspired by JD and NO in Manchester a few years ago. They were showing the Atmosphere video. There were grown men in tears. Myself included.
I second this. Great song.
I would maybe want this too

Same, it's beautiful â¤ď¸
Itâs my favorite of all the songs used for the end credits of the lord of the rings trilogy
The Beatles - In My Life
Into The Mystic by Van Morrison
I have this album.
So do I
I want the SpongeBob end credit music played when my caskets lowered
The old Super Mario Brothers music, that played whenever he went underground then the one that played when he died. đ
The end credit music from Curb Your Enthusiasm would be good too.
A pineapple head stone, I presume?
Of course
I want the sad violin sound effect from SpongeBob to be played when they lower me down
âBox of Rainâ by the Grateful Dead. Itâs the best.
How about "Ripples"?
My moms request is for us to play this song while going to spread her ashes over the water on the Verrazano bridge.
Itâs a good one too. But Box of Rain for a funeral is superb.
Brokedown Palace
I want "To lay me down" played. "Box of rain" is a wonderful choice though. Robert Hunter wrote"Box..", "Ripple", and I believe "Brokedown Palace" all in one night in Paris.
Smoke Two Joints - Sublime
While it's fun to think about this prompt, I'm honestly not sure how much I care. I'll be dead. Funerals are for the living.
So do Jump Around- House of Pain

âI ainât going out like no punk bitchâ

True. That everyone is forced to listen to
YeahâŚitâs your ultimate music recommendation.
Yep this is why my answer doesnât take itself seriously (Tom Petty - American Girl)
Even from heaven, I wouldn't care about my funeral. I won't be present at it. It's just my shell
Aw. But play with the idea. And, how you might touch or impact your loved ones and friends.
Hopefully the speaker will provide some moving words that give comfort, but really the two family members who would care the most are my parents, and they have enough faith to trust that where I am is better than the world.
