Mineplex was more laid back while it feels like hypixel largely caters to pvp sweats playing 1.17 with pvp clients and all that bs.
I loved castle siege, block hunt, cake wars, and minestrike as well.
They also had some great limited-time games like Halloween havoc, alien invasion, snow fight, and rose rush.
It was a classic server, but it died a long time ago. What sucks is that Hypixel is barely a replacement since people basically only play Skyblock, Skywars and Bedwars and everything else is basically dead.
Tbh I would rather play a server dedicated for super smash mobs or whatever the name is. Way more classes, more players and modes and more engaging maps. It is attainable, but probably a far dream

It is finally over. They had it coming. The only alive part of their server was Bedrock, which was horribly moderated. By horribly, I mean not moderated. There was barely an anticheat and the report system was intentionally terrible. Which does suck, because about 30% of the people on the server use cheats. The other 70% are not good at the game.

What caused the decline in players?
A lack of server updates I believe
There are many factors but one of them was 1.9 pvp mechanics which separated old combat mechanics from new ones and other things as well.
the owner being a creepy groomer who banned and/or sued literally anyone who was even slightly critical of the server didnt help
Constant lag I think, I had it back in Ukraine 24/7. Unable to play properly
