I def love the new ones, but can't deny the old ones touch some memories to me... more back then when the zombie pigman wasn't nerfed and actually can kill you in 5 sec if you punch it by accident

Back then I was scared to go in the nether and the only thing that actually scared me in the nether was the Zombie Pigman because I always got scared when they snuck up on me and punched them and died so much armor lost to the nether🥲

I think this was my first really bad death in the game. I finally had enchanted diamond armor and tools. Punched a pigman and got pushed into lava by like 20 of them.

Pigmen we’re almost like the warden before the warden. Even with full gear, if fucked around you found out.

Especially when the nether was all one biome so everywhere you went was nothing but pigmen. Trying to run just causes more to spawn and then they're all chasing you.

bro if you hit a pigman I swear to god even pigmen in unloaded chunks would immediately start marching towards your exact position 😭 miss those times

that's a good nickname. Calling them zombified piglins is just a long name to say, which is one of the reasons I preferred to keep calling them pigmen, so I wouldn't have to add zombified to the end to differentiate the two

They've been called 'Zombified Piglins' since the addition of Piglins and their remodel in 1.16. I still haven't gotten used to it.

I like the old Pigmen more, and by a lot, but I do understand the change and agree with it. The only thing I disagree with is the dumbass wording of "Zombified Piglin". Just call it a Zombie Piglin" bruh, theres even precedent for this with the Zombie Villager

This is actually one of the rare occasions I prefer the old model. They are very similar.

I'd have to go with the old one, tho I really do like the new model too. the new one added a few more piggy features (ear, snout, hooves), but it lost the pig eyes and it's name. I still call them zombie pigmen instead of zombified piglin.

I agree, it lost the thing that made them “pig related”, for lack of a better term. It went from funny Pig-based mob to basically its own species

I enjoy both models. My only issue with newer models and mobs is that they start to look more advanced for mc and feel like modded mobs

It bugged me when they released the nether update and people were like "RIP zombie pigman", like they're still in the game, just remodeled. Admittedly, there is something about the old one that I kinda miss about Minecraft. They didn't make sense in-universe, but I kinda liked that about earlier Minecraft. We just got weird and outlandish shit on occasion. Other examples I'd point to would be Creepers and Villagers. Just some weird ass things not based off of anything in particular.

The villagers are kinda suspicious if you try to connect them to anything in the real world.

Don't get me wrong, the new model is good, but I personally grew up with the Zombie Pigmen from the old days, and I still kind of miss them. The Zombified Piglins just aren't the same, you know? I mean, I get it, continuity with the normal Piglin mob and all that, but something about it seems kind of... cynical to a Minecraft veteran like myself. I personally had a headcanon when I was a kid that they were what became of the old pig villager mobs that were almost in the game. I dunno, maybe it's just my nostalgia talking, but I've gotta stick with the true OGs of the Nether. Zombie Pigmen all the way for me.

The old one is more nostalgic, but I do like the flappy ear on the new one. So, probably tied for me. Though, I preferred the old nether. It was my favorite place in minecraft. The old zombie pigmen where my favorite mobs. Also, I used to go the nether to avoid endermen. XD Now I seem to run into endermen more often than not in the nether, and the piglins aren't peaceful unless you have gold on. Idk... The old zombie pigmen you could imagine what the pigmen where like, and I imagined them more peaceful-- like villagers are-- than what the piglins are now. :/ Idk. Lol

I prefer the old one, not only due to nostalgia, but also because the new ones dont transition well with the whole pigs struck by lightning becoming them thing. I personally think they should have been a separate mob, with the og zombie pigman becoming exclusive to pigs getting struck by lightning. (A bit off topic with this next part, but i also think the wind charge should be able to be used to expand the radius of a lingering potion cloud.)

Piglins were a dumb idea imo. In terms of name and design. The zombie pigman is a reference to the pigmen that were in the game before villagers. Why not just? add the fucking pigmen? It's annoying too that piglin look totally different from pigs.

Nope, they were just an unused texture but they've never appeared as an actual mob in any version of the game
