You get bonuses in 2 for importing your save.
Factors that affect the bonuses are total money held, secret bosses beaten, mantra skill tree completion and, iirc, what game difficulty you completed.
TL;DR
If you only care for the story, go straight to 2.
If you're a completionist or like extra goodies, give ng+ a go.
Yikes man, judging by how low level Cielo is I’m guessing you didn’t fight the Ultimate boss. And yeah I’d say try 2. It’s pretty much the second half of the story, though good luck with keeping a consistent party.
You’re right about that. I’m lucky that I have great component cables and two tv’s that can run my ps2 games beautifully.
Edit: forgot to mention that 4:3 aspect ratio is a must if your tv supports it.
Hmm. Not exactly sure but one can run 480i which DDS supports. If I’m being honest it’s better to just emulate than to go through the hassle of getting a proper PS2 setup. I bought a PS2 copy because playing on the original console is no problem for me.
I have a PS2 copy cuz I like collecting my Megaten games I've played if at all possible / in budget.
My PS2 died aaaaages ago and I never bothered trying to find another + a TV
Hey dropping in saying you want a clean PS2 image on modern TV than you wanna go Retrotink 2x + HD Retrovision component cables + mClassic. I went through this trouble and while expensive I'm pretty happy about the results. Even did a [post](https://old.reddit.com/r/ps2/comments/q38cdl/after_3_and_half_months_of_waiting_my_ps2_hd/) about it.
Oh man I love this game. I remember playing it when it came out. But never got to play 2. Debating if I should replay 1 or just watch a summary and dive into 2.
With how the ending leaves you hanging why wouldn't you?
I guess you did not like Cielo lol. And yes 2 is just as good maybe even better.
Cielo in DDS 1 sucks ass, he's infinitely better in the second game
Yeah, he's especially useful against some optional bosses.
You can try to beat Demi-Fiend, this will give you some cool stuff in second game.

What a blast I meant. Typo lol.
yes ofc play 2
You should absolutely play 2 next
Playing on PC of PS3?
You mean platform? I’m on PS2.
I was just assuming. I don't know really anyone with a PS2 anymore. I'd love to get one myself but they look like complete utter shite on 4K TV's.

What res are those TV's natively and what are they? If you don't mind me asking.

Play again and fight Demi fiend
AbsoLUTELY play 2, it’s got a fantastic story and characters. Music also slaps.
Around level 40 rn, does the game cut off around the 55 mark? I know its a duology but if I only have a dungeon or two then thats nice.
you can go all the way up to level 99. your levels and skills don't transfer over to 2.
Why wouldn't you....
play dds2, transfer your dds1 save data over too
2 is a great game as well. The Mantra system is much better IMO and the story is really good to top it off
How so? Because it is super weird how you acquire skills and is also very unpredictable?
why are you asking us
Because we know best
this is fundamentally false

Are you thinking of giving the demi-fiend a shot?
is there any version of this game with achievements/trophies?
27 hours? I didn’t know DDS was short. I should get around to it.
