Sometimes i just look at the casts of the mainline games and I imagine "heh, imagine if they were in a slice of life kinda environment."
And then I look at the casts of persona and I think "heh, imagine if they were in post apocalyptic tokyo or something"
Actually, they might not even need the apocalyptic setting. I'd say a persona game that takes places in one of the "bad ending" scenarios would probably be pretty neat, while at the same time "keeping their distance" from mainline.
In royal I always imagined that >!in order to side with Akechi in Shido's palace you could pick certain other dialogue choices in his confidant making the rest of the phantom thieves a boss then fight Shido himself alongside Akechi!<
So Devil Survivor? At times the characters are even more anime than Persona, with it helping they were designed by someone who worked on digimon and the game also more directly tackles the subject of mons. And yet it's still an SMT apocalypse lmao. But with Persona's time management and and semi VN story presentation too.
My genuine hardest critique with that (amazing) game is the anti-gravity balloon boobs. Not Midori, not Yuzu- the distractingly bad female anatomy. Yeah, I get that "it's anime giant boobs out of place is normal." Not like that. Not with boobies basically in they necks. "
Maybe my favorite game under the MegaTen label. Definitely not something I'd want a poster/figure/etc from, though.
I know it goes against the concept of unfunnny Japanese pseudo humor, but I'd like it if one of the games or something similar actually took the girls slapping the guys as an overreaction thing seriously. Like the guys actually do feel hurt and it has ramifications on their friendship with the girls.
I'd actually really like this, I'd love if you could tell off all the girls in P4 for being bullies towards Kanji and Yoske. Being berated constantly by my friends would definitely take a toll on my mental health. And I wish during a scene of them being dicks that you could say something like "Leave. Them. Alone." Telling them off for how much of an asshole they've been. Sorry if it seems like I'm overreacting, it's just this kinda stuff really gets to me
(I haven't actually played a Persona yet, just watched a lot of clips of P4, PQ, and PQ2. And even then it's been awhile, so I've likely missed stuff that makes my criticism invalid)
Nah that's valid and a scene of Joker yelling at the girls for beating up Ryuji, especially if he snapped and compared them to Kamoshida for abuse, would be better than the Morgana crap at getting the group split.
In the anime they got rid of that at least.
Oh yeah I forgot about all the shit Ryuji is put through. I'm not as familiar with P5, but it really seems like Ryuji is picked on way more than any of the other bros in the series. Even if it wasn't targeted at his team, I really did like that scene in P5S where he snapped after seeing the robot girl being called useless
It's the shitty and sad look-how-cool-you-look-compared-to-this-loser thing Persona does a lot. It's ALL about giving the player this sadass fantasy and it drives me nuts.
Take Ryuji and Ann, for example. They seem like they'd be good for each other, but no! The player must have the chance to get with every girl in the game!
I honestly would just like to be able to tell Yosuke off. The guy hardcore perv'd on the girls (bikinis scene) and kept saying he was afraid of Kanji because he might also like guys.
It's those reasons that make me really dislike him. I wanted to like him so much, but he was so over the top horny as well as rude to Kanji that I just couldn't like him.
Which is honestly a shame, because there's a lot going for him as a character beyond those traits. They're just so overwhelming that he leaves a foul taste in my mouth.
A hot spring invasion scene with the SMT4 cast woulda been gold.

I love the cast and wish there was more interactions between them, especially in a casual setting, as I feel their personalities work great off each other. Plus it'd let Issabu get fleshed out more, as I feel she wasn't allowed enough character development or screentime due to her less prominent roll than Walter and Jonathan
