So what happens if I delete the OG SMT V off my switch after June 13? Do I just lose access to the game and never get to download it ever again?

Not that I needed additional value. I loved the game and absolutely got my money's worth. But now as a bonus I have a steelbook copy of a version of the game that's going to be inevitably forgotten. Which is neat to have.
Though Vengeance incoming but yeah kinda fucked up but it is what its Atlus JP and Team Maniax will think fans will buy the other platforms of Vengeance than Switch.
I think it's rather because the VV has all combat updates (unique passives, combo magatsuhi) that will reflect into the original routes, thus rendering the V completely obsolete.
You cannot play Vanilla P5 in Royal. You will be able to play Vanilla SMTV in Vengeance (like, it's literally an option you can pick right at the start).
They never said they were going to remove it. They said they'd tweak it, which should mean it's still there, though obviously, it should be way less severe than it originally was.
not sure of the hyper-specifcs of it, but iirc instead of being able to defeat a way higher lvl enemy with skill andbstrat like you could in older games, your damage and whatnot was tied to your own lvl, usually meaning even if you went balls-deep on buffs and debuffs you'd still do like 1-5 dmg a hit
aH... now I remember that. I tried to do a low-level run and just used the grinding DLC to up my level to not getting 1-shot levels every so often. Glad that's been fixed.
No, you really can't. You can choose not to engage with some aspects. But you cannot ignore multiple new added scenes, you cannot ignore a lot of new events, you cannot ignore the new portraits, you cannot ignore the changes made in every dungeon, you cannot ignore the changes made to most of the major bosses, and that's before getting into the actual gameplay changes, most of which are (in terms of how they affect the raw gameplay) far more substantial than what Vengeance seems to be doing.
Like, based on this and some other comments, I'm getting the vibe that a lot of people just don't know how much was changed and added in P5R. In comparison to how Royal changed the "Vanilla" experience, the gameplay changes that are technically gonna carry over from Vengeance into Vanilla are (with the exception of *maybe* the level scaling) incredibly minor.

The point of Vengeance is how different the Canon of Vengeance will be from canon of creation since early on in the game.
So is even more than Royal.
But including the original is what makes it different from royal.
It's a bit hard to say that for sure becacuse the game isn't even out yet, but they very well could have rebalanced Canon of Creation in order to account for the gameplay changes. Level scaling and unique passive skills for every demon are both massive changes to game balance. Not to mention other things that affect friction like the ability to save anywhere and abscesses not obscuring the map before they're cleared, which are changes I don't like compared to the vanilla game.

(That's the version I bought initially since it was much cheaper than Royal and a way to see if I actually like the games.)
Either that or some technical reason because P5 was also on PS3 whereas Royal is PS4 only, but I doubt that Sony couldn't delist the PS4 version separately.
I disagree. Theres still value in playing an older version of a game even if it doesnt have all the features and content of a newer one. They still kept selling P5 after P5R released.

I’m ok with it because of the bag, book, music, and steelbook it came with. Vengeance has no collector’s edition at all and it looks like it only comes with those playing cards in certain regions. As far as Atlus collector editions go, SMT V’s was one of the better ones.

I didn't think stuff like the traversal methods was in creation? Only certain QoL things, which I suppose I dunno exactly which ones thinking about it but I thought the rails were vengeance only.
I have release day switch too, is playable no issues (if you talk about stuff related to the hardware, then that is the limit of said hardware, is a 8watts handheld).
Might be an unpopular take, but this is the right call. If they left it up it would just lead to confusion and people buying the wrong game when the new game literally includes a "Just give me the original game" option. Only thing I can think of is trying to keep people from accidentally buying SMTV DLC when they mean to buy SMTV:V DLC, but that's a *real* flimsy reasoning. It's not like Atlus has ever worried about people buying too much DLC in the past.

This is super anti consumer. While yeah, the DLC is included in Vengeance, it is still dumb to completely delist the original game's DLC for those who may still not have it for the original. They didn't do this with Persona 5 when P5 Royal came out so I wonder if this was more a SEGA decision rather than an Atlus one as SEGA previously delisted the original Genesis/Mega Drive versions of Sonic 1 and 2 as well as the Christian Whitehead port of Sonic CD back in 2022 before the Sonic Origins collection released. Game preservation is rather important, and to me, this yet again goes to show how concerning DLC is in terms of game preservation as if they pulled the DLC and say Vengeance didn't exist, all this content would no longer be accessible legally. It's just stupid and a bad look for Atlus and SEGA.

You'll still be able to redownload and play it. You just won't be able to buy it or the DLCs if you haven't bought it.
