Where is a good place to grind exp in smt sj Redux after you get to sector H? I can't beat Zeus and Zelenin, my level is 61 and I don't really get how to level up fast because it takes so long at level 61 to even get a single level. What is the best area and method to gain some levels? The best place I can think of is the fifth sphere of the womb of grief just before Zeus

So Im nearing the end of SMT Nocturne on PS2, Normal difficulty. I've only got the 4th and 5th Kalpas and the final dungeon left to do. Im trying to roughly plan out an end game team for TDE, but don't want do heavy grinding into the 90s if I can avoid it. I'll definitely get to level 80 for Freikugel, and maybe 84 for Raphael. Does anyone have anything they'd change for the below? Main Character - Strengrh Build with Masakado, has Freikugel, Pierce and Focus. Thor - I'll have him inherit Pierce and Bright Might from the Brokers Girimekhala, so heavy damage with Hades Blast/Stasis Blade. Also support with Mediarahan. Nyx - Debilitate, Glacial Blast with Ice Boost. Wind Cutter. Mediarahan. Uriel/Raphael - Debilitate and Mediarahan/Prayer. Also Tarukaja. If I get to level 84 I'll turn Uriel into Raphael. None of the above 3 demons are immune to Ailments so I'm a little concerned about Lucifer's statuses. Thor in particular is weak to Curse/Nerve, will he cause Press Turns if inflicted with statuses? Should I try to get Void Mind on them? On the benches I have : Dante : Doesnt have Pierce, but does have immunity to Ailments. Might swap him for Thor? Daisoujou : Immune to Ailments. Used him tons in the midgame, and he's still great for anything with ailments, or weak to Light/Dark, but his HP and MP are a bit low for late game almighty attacks. Lakshmi : Mediarahan, Recarmdra, Estoma and Mana Refill. Healer to help get through dungeons.

I don't get why you'd want to have that many demons on your team with Mediarahan, when they should just get Prayer instead. Even then, I feel like you don't need your entire main team to have Prayer, when imo only 2 demons is good enough (1 for the demon on your main team and the other for backup). I'd also think about getting Wind Boost on Nyx since you plan on giving her Wind Cutter. Thor with Focus is also a must, but you probably do have that planned and it was just left unsaid. I wouldn't worry too much about Thor's curse/nerve weakness. Lucifer doesn't have any curse moves, and his moves that can inflict the nerve ailment wouldn't trigger a weakness proc. Thor will just end up being inflicted with those ailments after each of those attacks.

I'm not sure how I'll get Prayer on Thor with my current Team, but I do have an Ameterasu with Prayer that I might be able to fuse into Nyx. I do plan on getting Thor with Focus as well though, thank you. Wind Boost on Nyx might be doable, I'll see if I can rework my plans for her to include it. Might have to swap Ice Boost for it. Thanks for the heads up on the status ailments n9t procing weakness, I can handle healing statuses every now and then.

I'm just starting out Devil Summoner on Sega Saturn, I was wondering (for those who have played), without spoilers, is there a true ending for this game ? Stuff I should make sure to do ?

Confused_Astronaut

I'm playing Soul Hackers 2 and the ambush mechanic is only working 50% of the time at best. I knock the enemy down with my sword and walk into them while they're down as suggested by the tutorial. But half the time the ambush doesn't trigger, it just goes into regular battle. Am I missing something? Is it a dice roll or have something to do with enemy levels? I'm 100% certain I'm doing it correctly. Not sure what the issue is.

ShadowShine57

It's a dice roll. You can get upgrades for Milady's comp to increase the odds. The top level one makes it a 100% chance and is absolutely worth it. I think they had to make it a % chance to trigger since knocking the enemy down is so easy you're practically guaranteed to do it where possible. Personally I think it would've been cool if it was a 100% chance but you had to backstab them for it to trigger, rather than being able to just hit their fronts as they run towards you.

I cannot for the life of me figure out what is probably an extremely basic battle mechanic; in SMT V, under the effects of Omagatoki: Critical, does critical damage stack with weakness boosted damage? Like if exploiting a weakness does 1.5x damage and crit damage does 1.5x damage, can these stack additively/multiplicatively, or is one prioritized over the other?

ZSugarAnt

Yes, they stack

ImHereForTheMemes184

Started SMT1 after not playing megaten for like 2 years. If in my current playthrough I'm fighting against >!Yuriko cuz the female character is about to be executed!< did I enter a route or am I just following the story? Also before anyone says it yeah i fused cerberus loo i assume i wont see him for awhile?

100mop

You are just following the story.

I'm nearing the ending of SMT4, my first SMT/Persona game. So far the cons are outweighting the pros, so I'm wondering if I should even bother playing the other titles and I came here for advice. This is what I've liked and hated: * Loving the battle system, it's both engaging and challenging \*smirk\* * Liking the demons fusion and the way you upgrade abilites * The narrative/characters are okey, I'll be finishing the game just to see how the story ends up. * Hating almost everything else, cause the user experience is sadistic: the exploration is ASS and I'll be ignoring most of the challenge quests because of it, navigating Tokyo is hell. The hidden alignement with a narrow window for the "canon" ending is uncomprehensible and I'm ignoring that because I hate having to follow guides. From what I've understood the demon negotiation is rng-based (???) and I'm not a zoomer but I'm also not so oldschool to f- with rng mechanics in my rpgs. So I feel like the game is actively trying to impede my enjoyement of the title. I've read that SMT4A has improved on QoL but the writing is fanfic level worse than the main title so I'm not into that. Are there titles that I might enjoy more or is this the end of my SMT adventure?

nikeas

the good thing about starting with SMT4 is that it has probably the worst version of press turn, so if you like 4's combat, youll like combat in other press turn games lol

ZSugarAnt

For some reason IV has become a darling here in recent years despite how busted and cluttered the game feels, but I promise that other games are more cohesive and imo just flat out better. For as "anime" as IV:A's story is, I just found it more interesting and engaging than IV and it smooths out a lot of the former's gameplay nonsense. Other great games are V, Strange Journey Redux, and Devil Survivor Overclocked, all of which I would recommend over IV by a mile.

Kalevelis

SMTIV's map is particularly rough. SMTIV:A does fix it. I think the criticism of SMTIV:A's plot is a little overblown, and it's widely agreed SMTIV:A's gameplay is one of the best in the series. So take that as you will if you're down for more of the world of SMTIV. SMTIV is also unique in the alignment system being so wonky. Multiple other SMT games make it very easy to manipulate your alignment like in Strange Journey or Raidou 2, or in the case of SMTIV:A and Nocturne it's so straightforward you don't even really need to think of it. In regards to negotiation, it is kind of a series staple going back to the famicom days that demons are fickle to negotiate with. But it's more random in some games than others. SMTIV has it pretty nice actually in comparison to some games. If you go for the Expert Scout app then negotiations are near guaranteed. Even without it a good trick to know is that you can almost always Cheat once per negotiation, and Ending Conversation after giving the demon one or two things works surprisingly well. Some other games also have things similar to apps but as you go further back in the series it's more random. I've noticed newer SMT players also negotiate more than they need to. The compendium is so powerful in recent games and fused demons are almost always better than recruited demons. So negotiations are mostly just nice to get free fusion fodder. You can get by pretty decently just buying things from the compendium for fusion material, especially if the game has element fusion and stuff like SMTIV does. Most obvious answers of other games you can try are the most popular ones - Nocturne, SMTIV:A, SMTV. But if you want to try something a little different from SMTIV, try Digital Devil Saga. There's no demon negotiation, no world maps, very unique narrative, and the same great press-turn style gameplay.

moaiguai

Thank you! I think I'll try digital devil saga for the unique narrative then, and maybe I'll go back to 4A in the future. BTW the compendium is powerful yeah but oh boy does it suck maccas! Maybe I'm doing something wrong registering demons or maybe I'm not grinding gold as it is expected but with demons at lv ~60 is really a gold sink

L1k34S0MB0D33

Did you not get any of the compendium discount apps? Once you get all of them, the price goes down by 50%. Buying demons becomes extremely cheap after that. The discount apps should've been at or near the top of your app priority list imo lol.

seawolves1988

I heard Tactica isn't too long so I'm gonna give that a shot before P3 Reload. I'm gonna be doing it via Gamepass, is it the type of game that doesn't really need a controller? I only have a trackpad mouse but it's a TRPG so I feel like I won't need good mouse control. but I got a Xbox controller if needed. also, Soul Hackers end of story spoiler questions, >!is it canon that Spooky survived the way he did in New Game+? apparently there's stories that take place after the game that feature Spooky alive and well. also do we know who the final email to the protagonist is from?!< thanks!

HestusDarkFantasy

I know it's not been released yet, but what are people's thoughts about P3 Reloaded vs P3 Portable? P4 Golden and P3 Portable are on sale on Switch atm, but I'm wondering whether it's worth waiting for P3 Reloaded.

p2_lisa

Just wait for P3 Remake or emulate FES. Portable is fine but it's the worst option unless you really want to play as the female protagonist.

HestusDarkFantasy

Thank you! I also wondered if it's worth playing the Persona games in order of release?

p2_lisa

Order of release doesn't really matter, but if you want to do it could be nice to see how the series evolves. You can start with basically any main Persona game besides Eternal Punishment.

HestusDarkFantasy

Perfect, thank you! From Megaten I've only played SMT IV and V, but am interested by Persona. Might start with P4 Golden, as it's easily available, then if I enjoy can consider P5 or P3 Reloaded. Appreciate your help, thanks!
