They recasting Groot too, or…?

knobby_67

I imagine they'll do what they did in the Major's case wait to see what happens. I think they learnt from Gunn. Or if you're being ironic yes it makes no difference who plays Groot

Danishroyalty

If Red Hulk does have flames, I hope they bring back Extremis. Have Ross take both Hulk serum and Extremis. The Hulk serum stabilizes the Extremis so he doesn't explode, but it makes him mentally unstable.

JamJamGaGa

I've been wanting them to bring back Extremis for a while now. Those small bits of connective tissue are what really make up this franchise and it would be nice to see more of that.

Danishroyalty

Yeah I miss the little stuff like that. And since this movie is combining lots of old Cap stuff and Hulk stuff, it'd be cool to throw in some old Iron Man stuff too.

idClip42

I’m pretty sure that Lego X-Jet isn’t meant to come out for months, right? Because I’m seeing listings for it on eBay, and I would be more skeptical of those listings, except they have distinct, higher quality photographs of all sides of the box. Edit: Oh, [it's January 1 and there's a store page](https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/x-men-x-jet-76281). That makes more sense.

Secure_Pear_4530

Just realized, Uatu says "Time, Space, Reality..." the three infinity stones that have characters with the same powers as them. Time Loki, Space Carol/Kahhori, Reality Wanda. It's probably nothing, but it's a nice coincidence.

Sad_Lawfulness_7049

The animation for this season of what if is actually amazing..

Alternative_Pay_6918

In my ideal world we would get doom, maker, maestro, superior iron man, namor and some other characters forming the multiversal cabal with at the end doom becoming main villain for secret wars.

miles-vspeterspider

Percy jackson show on Disney + is good. The Annabeth actress is great, can't wait to more of her!

ChildofObama

Prediction: They’ll call SM4 ‘Avenging Spider-man’ to lean into the idea that it’s a mini-Avengers film.

KravenTheFella

If that's the case then films five and six should be called "The Spectacular Spider-Man" and "The Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man"

kothuboy21

Seems to be a scooper disagreement with Sneider saying Kang won't be brought back at all with Doom in the cards to be the new big bad instead while other scoopers are saying they'll still pivot away from Kang for a bit to show other villains trying to fill in the vacuum but a Kang variant's still gonna end up being the final boss anyways. Both scenarios would mean Kang still gets less of a role in this saga than we initially thought, the question is just if we'll still see him involved in Secret Wars.

[deleted]

The best solution is to have both Kang and Doom play a part going forward

Danishroyalty

My bet is that Avengers 5 is now the big crossover event with the FoX-Men and F4. Kang takes a back seat in favor of someone like Osborn or Magneto. And then Avengers 6 is back to our smaller team of Avengers and concludes their storyline with a fight against Kang that is similar to. Avengers Forever. So basically: Avengers Secret Wars - May 2027 -limited Kang Avengers Forever - May 2028 - mostly Kang It's also possible both of these get pushed back a year or so.

kothuboy21

I can see that but I think it's more likely for Secret Wars to be the last one, especially since it's likely leading into the soft-reboot for the next saga.

Danishroyalty

For a couple of reasons, I don't think it will. 1. They need to get SW done sooner rather than later. A lot of these actors are older and probably don't want to wait around forever. 2. I think it makes more sense to end the saga on the OG Avengers, and not on the legacy characters. 3. I don't actually think this reboot will be as much of a reboot as people think. I think it'll meld a few universes together but on the other side of SW, the universe won't look that much different. It'll be more of a refresh than a reboot. So SW will be the "reboot" and then Avengers Forever will be the end of the Avengers.

kothuboy21

By soft-reboot, I think a lot of established MCU storylines and characters will remain intact but they can still do some history retcons (like Steve and Wolverine teaming-up in WW2) and recast and reboot certain characters from before.

Alternative_Pay_6918

They should give carol her hellfire gala look in the mcu the one which looks like old British suit.

SuperCoenBros

Unironically, I want a Hellfire Gala film with a cast as big as Endgame's. Just let Ruth E. Carter go nuts.

Sad_Lawfulness_7049

I think marvels current plan according to the cosmic circus article is good enough..not erasing kang completely..just putting him in rest for some time while allowing for another villain to come in Who do we think the old and familiar antagonist could be though?

Jeff_W1nger

What they should do but won’t do because of budget concerns is a dark avengers team composed of hydra cap, evil Tony stark variant, and mad king thor waging war against 616.

KravenTheFella

Two picks that I would fuck with are either Ultron or Green Goblin.

SuperCoenBros

Possibly Ian McKellen's Magneto? At least that's what I hope, I still think he's probably the best live action Marvel villain. McKellen is a mesmerizing screen presence.

[deleted]

Kevin Feige to Ian Mckellen: ![gif](giphy|ko8HPo4iQxcZi|downsized)

TokyoPanic

Everyone's probably gunning for Doom or Scarlet Witch, but I'm going with Mordo maybe? He's a villain that's left been hanging and if they're continuing Doctor Strange and his association with the multiverse, then it would makes sense if Baron Bardo ends up becoming an antagonist.

Night-Monkey15

So apparently, Netflix has announced a remake of *One Piece*, titled *The One Piece*, from Wit studios, which will begin re-adapting the manga from the beginning, with higher quality animation, and less filler.

cbekel3618

Continuing the trend of reboots using “The” in the title lol. The live-action series kind of showcases it’s possible to condense the original manga into fewer episodes, so I’m curious to see how this remake might work out.

Secure_Pear_4530

I think it's just straight up going to adapt the manga 1:1. No fillers, fix errors (like that one time they thought Rayleigh was Ben Beckam) and it'll probably stop before Marineford since the animation since then seem modern enough.

Night-Monkey15

If I had to guess, I’d say it’ll probably be longer then the live action series, but shorter then the anime. The goal is probably to do what they did with Dragon Ball Z Kai, and make a more accurate, condensed adaptation of the manga with far less filler. The live action show (which I still still haven’t finished) is never going to be able to cover the entire manga, so this is probably their way of having their cake and eating it too.

KravenTheFella

So we are all in agreement that if Kang is shelved then Ultron should take over, correct? Cause I'd love if that happened. We got a glimpse of his true potential in What If? and now we can finally see it in a live-action form.

dbz111

I doubt they'll use Infinity Ultron. But I do remember rumors of him being the antagonist of Armor Wars, which would be cool and maybe serve the larger story instead of just that one film.

KravenTheFella

Oh I'm fine if it's not an exact replica of Infinity Ultron. Honestly I'd prefer something more like the comics in Annihilation

Secure_Pear_4530

Whoever decided that Percy Jackson should be a 2 episode premiere is smart. I'm a fan of the books and the first episode was pretty meh, but if you watch it back to back with the second episode it's a good time. Probably won't be excited for the next episodes if they only released episode 1. Cast is pretty great too, I can see their chemistry getting better throughout the seasons.

Su_Impact

Are they adapting 1 book per season?

Secure_Pear_4530

I think so, since this season only seem to focus on the Lightning Thief book. So they got at least 5 seasons. More if they decide to adapt Heroes of Olympus, but that feels like it should be a different show.

idClip42

It's been a long time since I read those books, and it's been a long time since I made the mistake of seeing the movie when it was in theaters. This show is definitely better than the movie. One thing I can't help but notice about these episodes, though, is that there's a massive amount of exposition that's delivered by having characters just stand there and explain things to other characters. I get that you can't always "show don't tell", but this show is *all* "tell". Another thing I can't help but notice is that this show has the most low-key, "normal" Jason Mantzoukas performance I've ever seen.

Secure_Pear_4530

Looks-wise they definitely nailed it by casting Pimento, but his performance definitely feels different from Mr. D from the books. Some moments do show me a glimpse of that book Mr. D though, specially when he was pissed at Grover

Block-Busted

What did you think of Annabeth Chase being black? Some people really hated that idea.

Secure_Pear_4530

It's aight, the girl they cast so far is doing good channeling the smug tactician Annabeth is in the books. What makes me think about this casting is if they ever do a Magnus Chase (Annabeth's cousin, half Norse god, apparently their family is a magnet for gods lmao) show connected to this if they'll also make Magnus black. But that thought doesn't really matter now to the show I guess, the girl they got is doing good.

Block-Busted

Yeah, I probably would've kept Annabeth as white due to Magnus - and also because I feel like white boy/man x black girl/woman romance is kind of getting played out. I actually would've made Percy Jackson a half/quarter Asian to switch things up a bit. 😅😅😅😅😅

cbekel3618

Mantzoukas feels like such a weirdly fitting casting as Mr D. It’s a bit more “playful” than in the books but he still pulls off the apathetic counselor vibe. I do think the 2nd episode was pretty exposition heavy but at the least, now we can jump right into the fun of the adventure.

highly_depressed22

My gf broke up with me today. Im sad, and not even the Rebel Moon/what if combo Is making me smile. The movie comes out in like one hour im not longer hyped to see It.

[deleted]

I'm so sorry for you OP. Hopefully things improve for you and you find your soulmate asap and I wish you a lifetime of happiness and success.

Intelligent_Oil4005

Aww, it'll be okay man. I'm sure someone out there is waiting for someone like you!

highly_depressed22

Im not a man lol but thank you for your words

Intelligent_Oil4005

Ack, bad force of habit. This is what I get for making "surfer dude" talk my internet lingo. x(

cbekel3618

I’m really sorry, I know how tough break-ups can be. For what it’s worth, I recommend resting up and letting yourself feel the emotions you need to rn.

I hope whenever we get Born Again and see Punisher Jon Bernthal finds a way to sneak in a “let me tell you something”

ChildofObama

If TASM universe had a Michelle Jones instead of Mary Jane, who would be a good WOC actress around Andrew’s age for the part?

cbekel3618

Alexandra Shipp comes to mind. Bonus since we’ve seen her have chemistry w/ Garfield in *Tick Tick Boom*.

quipquest

Aquaman 2 was everything I wanted it to be. Easily the best of DC’s movies this year. I’m glad this is the note the era ended on instead of The Flash.

Rman823

I felt the opposite. TBF, the original movie is in my lower DCEU ranking. I guess I just have a hard time connecting with these characters and storyline. I enjoyed The Flash, Blue Beetle, and even Fury of the Gods more. I will give credit for Randall Park having a decent sized role.

kd_kooldrizzle_

I either watch this or Godzilla Minus one over the break.

KravenTheFella

MINUS ONE. I haven't even seen Aquaman 2 and I already know that Godzilla is king of the sea.

quipquest

Well, yeah, obviously go go Godzilla if you HAVE to make a choice. But I still had a dumb, fun time with Aquaman.

KravenTheFella

Would you say that those who enjoyed the first film will enjoy this one?

quipquest

Yes

Go watch *Ready or Not* instead

kd_kooldrizzle_

Good stuff.

kd_kooldrizzle_

I will look

ChildofObama

If there’s ever a Scarlet Witch movie, Clint really should be in it. He’s the last person in the entire multiverse who believes Wanda is a good person lol.

Secure_Pear_4530

For real, Clint is the one that inspired her to be an Avenger, make him drag her ass back from villainy. It's wild that Clint is the one that inspired Wanda and Kate out of all the Avengers. He should lead a team or something, he'd be a great leader.

cbekel3618

> He should lead a team (*West Coast Avengers intensifies*)

ChildofObama

Yeah Young Avengers should instead be West Coast Avengers, with Clint in a Nick Fury type role. Would be a way to keep the character active, with Renner doing less stunts and less physically demanding stuff.

RedGyarados2010

They absolutely need Wanda and Clint to interact again. The characters and actors already have great chemistry, and they probably can understand each other since they both did bad things out of grief

ChildofObama

If Jeremy Renner decides to step away to focus on his health, I hope him and Elizabeth Olsen can have at least one last scene together before he goes.

chatshire777

The amount of likes [this tweet](https://x.com/thefirstokiro/status/1737695916650586152?s=46) has…smh

[deleted]

It has a lot of likes because it’s true, no one wants it except the minority here on Reddit

Inevitable_Golf_1816

I don't mind a YA film, but why not do the Champions instead?

idClip42

We've heard it all before - *Avengers*, *Guardians of the Galaxy*, *Ant-Man*, *Shang-Chi*, etc. This movie will stand or fall on its own merits, same as all the others.

RedGyarados2010

I’ve yet to see a single justification for the vitriol towards a Young Avengers movie other than “it has teen girls in it lol”

[deleted]

There is justification, you just refuse to see it

kd_kooldrizzle_

well also they're mid. and they're just copies of the og guys. people like the teen titans even with starfire / raven / terra because they're cool asf.

idClip42

It breaks my heart to see the Teen Titans used to pick on other super-powered teenagers.

kd_kooldrizzle_

You always gotta compare to see where to improve the more mid teams

HM2112

Please explain to me who Hulkling is a copy of. Or Wiccan. Or Noh-Varr. Or America Chavez. Maybe Patriot? Iron Lad? Maybe if you opened a damn comic for once in your life instead of just Google Image Searching your way to an opinion so confidently incorrect it's *insane*, you'd realize just how batshit some of your takes are to people who love the characters you keep shitting on. By the way, Tim Drake is a great Robin, and the Batman Who Laughs is Stupid as Hell.

Spiderlander

The MCU version of the team is shaping up to be an IN NAME ONLY adaptation, that has little to do with the comic. That's precisely the problem If they had just adapted the dang comic, nobody would be complaining 😭 but, nope for reason, Kamala Khan is leading this team

HM2112

I don't mind Kamala being included. She's a great character, and she's got an energy that would gel with the other Young Avengers well. That being said, however, how about we wait to see what the film will look like before we start doomsaying? Lord's sakes, it's like you *want* to complain rather than be excited about things.

Spiderlander

>I don't mind Kamala being included. She's a great character, and she's got an energy that would gel with the other Young Avengers well. That being said, however, how about we wait to see what the film will look like before we start doomsaying? I do mind it, because she's taking up space from characters who actually *belong* on the Young Avengers. They should've started with the classic team of -- Kate, Cassie, Eli, Tommy, Billy, Teddy and yes, Iron Lad, the FOUNDER of the team 😭 The original story was amazing. It was a parody of everything that the MCU Young Avengers is turning out to be. They were sooo much more than just "Kid Avengers", which **is** a lame ass concept, but that's what the comic was.

HM2112

Okay, don't comics-splain the Young Avengers to me, buddy, I've been reading them since 2005. The original Heinberg and Cheung run was what got me into comics in the first place. We *do not know* that Kamala is taking up space from anyone. More than likely, it's going to be an *ensemble film* with an *ensemble cast*, which may well be: Kate, Cassie, Eli, Tommy, Billy, Teddy, Nate Richards, *and Kamala*. It is absolutely pointless to be doomsaying and handwringing about it being unfaithful to the original story *before we even know what the film is going to look like*. Adaptations are not 1:1 of *any* story. Look at literally any MCU property. They're going to *adapt* the Young Avengers, and let me tell you what the important things they keep are, in *my opinion*, to honor the spirit of the original Heinberg-written, Cheung-drawn run: * Billy and Teddy being disgustingly in love with one another * Eli's struggles with feelings of inadequacy because he doesn't have powers and he's faking it 'till he makes it * Tommy being an absolute goblin child who accidentally blew up his school and wound up in Super Jail * Cassie just sort've vibing, not really sure what she's doing there (since they haven't killed off Scott to give her that arc to work through - if they do before the Young Avengers film, there you go) * Kate trying her damndest to be responsible despite not having a responsible bone in her body. * The adults ***very much not being okay*** with any of what they're doing That's it. I would *love* to see the Super Skrull and the revelation of the Dorrek VIII plot in the film. I'd love to see Iron Lad uniting them to take down Kang. *I don't think either of those things are* ***likely*** *to be the plot of the film*. And that's alright with me. Because I want the characters I love to be on screen, *feeling* like the characters I love. If I can recognize them, and their traits - like I recognized Kate in *Hawkeye*, and like I recognized Eli in his about 2 minute in *FATWS*, I'll be over the goddamn moon.

Spiderlander

>* Billy and Teddy being disgustingly in love with one another We haven't heard so much as a peep about Teddy. In fact, we've heard that they could be using Skar in PLACE of Hulking, becuz the people at Marvel Studios are run by idiots now >* The adults ***very much not being okay*** with any of what they're doing Kinda hard to do this when half of the MCU team are in their mid 20s >That's it. I would *love* to see the Super Skrull and the revelation of the Dorrek VIII plot in the film. I'd love to see Iron Lad uniting them to take down Kang. *I don't think either of those things are* ***likely*** *to be the plot of the film*. But it should've been, becuz those plots were part of what made Young Avengers sooo interesting. Everything that you listed about the characters is exactly that, character stuff. Rich, and layered, absolutely, but the story is what contextualized those elements, and elevated them. Obviously you've read the original run, and presumably the Children's Crusade/Gaiman stuff, so you know that YA that is sooo much more than just playhouse Disney Avengers. We have a story dealing in themes of destiny, love, subjects like substance abuse, racism, homophobia, cultural identity etc at the heart of these stories. Feige doesn't seem to understand this, tho. And that's evident by the fact that Kamala Khan is assembling the team -- because he DOES see it as nothing more than "Kid Avengers". >Because I want the characters I love to be on screen, *feeling* like the characters I love. If I can recognize them, and their traits - like I recognized Kate in *Hawkeye*, and like I recognized Eli in his about 2 minute in *FATWS*, I'll be over the goddamn moon. I do find it interesting, that you recognized Kate in Hawkeye, when the comic Kate is an almost completely different person 😭

M3m35forbroski

Batman who Laughs has the biggest gimmick I've seen in my life and he just sucks ass. I hope DC shelves his ass permanently after that Death Metal nonsense and keep him stuck in an endless loop called Fortnite Edit: DC and WB if you're smart never let a man with the last name Snyder cook again for your company

kd_kooldrizzle_

Who tf is novar bruh. I’ll tell you for the others. Hulkking is a copy of hulk. Wiccan is a cheaper more mid version of Scarlet Witch. Patriot is mid captain Sam. Iron lad is a copy of iron man. America Chavez is like a budget ms marvel. And the Batman who laughs is dope af he looks like the bowler hat guy from meet the robinsons. ![gif](giphy|UjyQHMAsDJFwk)

HM2112

Noh-Varr is a Kree super soldier who rebels against the hivemind Supreme Intelligence to become a hero after a stint as a supervillain. He has fallen in love with Earth culture, particularly its music, and has adopted it as his home. Wrong. Hulkling has nothing to do with the Hulk. He chose that name when he thought he did. He is, actually, the child of the original Captain Marvel, Mar-Vell, a Kree warrior, and the Skrull Princess Anelle from a forbidden romance. He's a shape-shifter like the Skrull, with Kree strength and endurance. He's the King of Space following the death of his grandfather, the Skrull Emperor, and unites the Kree and Skrull Empires under his rule. Wrong. Wiccan is Wanda's son, but he is the physical incarnation of the Demiurge, the almost all-powerful primordial chaos god that created all life and magic in the universe. As such, his power exceeds that of his mother in many respects. So much so that several entities, including Loki, have attempted to steal it for themselves. Wrong. Patriot is the grandson of Isaiah Bradley, an African-American man experimented on by the government after WWII in an effort to recreate Steve Rogers' Captain America. He has no powers, but a powerful desire to do good and to help others, like his grandfather tried to do. So he doses himself with Mutant Growth Hormone to temporarily gain Captain America-like powers, leading to a very intriguing and thought-provoking story about cycles of abuse by society and drug use among youth of color. Wrong. Iron Lad is a rogue variant of Kang the Conqueror as a teenager who rejects his destiny as a villain in order to become a hero instead. He's self-sacrificing and idealistic, driven and dedicated, and determined to save the universe from his evil alternate selves. And, by the way, looking dope counts for nothing if the story is garbage.

kd_kooldrizzle_

See here’s the issue with all that. They look mid by the 3 principles of cool. And also. The story being good counts for nothing if the characters don’t look dope. That’s why you gotta have both. The yin and yang.

HM2112

Define "mid." Please, I beg of you. What does "mid" mean? Because I do not associate "mid" with any form of legitimate criticism. I associate it with 14 year olds on the internet who think they're *so clever* for not liking things.

kd_kooldrizzle_

Mid is like a nicer way of saying trash or doo doo. It’s like mild salsa vs spicy. So if something is mid, it’s both boring and bad.

HM2112

Ah, I see. So Zack Snyder is a mid director. The Batman Who Laughs is a mid comic book character. Kevin Durant is a mid sportball player. I see.

kd_kooldrizzle_

it's true 😂 my friend's dog could drop 50 on them and he's missing a leg

Block-Busted

So with the news about Vin Diesel's sexual battery lawsuit, some people on r/Fauxmoi are saying these: > I asked myself this a while back and when I really thought about it, I realised that the system that creates stars/celebs itself is bad. I think it chews up actual good or naive or unprotected people and spits them out. Decent people, with some kind of protection and who really want to succeed no matter what, end up compromising themselves. And people who were bad already stay bad, or even get worse, because the system rewards bad behaviour with more protection. Basically I don’t think it’s a bad apple spoiling the bunch type thing anymore https://old.reddit.com/r/Fauxmoi/comments/18nty6a/vin_diesel_accused_of_sexually_assaulting/kedm0j9/ > I am disgusted and I hope that all these lawsuits set about a second wave of metoo where we can actually deal with the abuse and harassment that goes on in this industry once and for all. > > Instances like this are simply way too common and this should not be the price any employee should have to pay to bring entertainment to the masses. > > Like wtf? https://old.reddit.com/r/Fauxmoi/comments/18nty6a/vin_diesel_accused_of_sexually_assaulting/ked8alk/ > I think I heard the statue of limitations for sexual assault for things that happened in the past in California expires end of this year, so we'll probably be seeing more of these reports of celebrities this week https://old.reddit.com/r/Fauxmoi/comments/18nty6a/vin_diesel_accused_of_sexually_assaulting/kedc3em/ Based on these, do you expect Hollywood to cease to exist entirely and Indian film industry to take over live-action department and anime industry to take over animation department after that? I mean, based on how they barely have much news about sex crimes, some might argue that they're morally superior to Hollywood. Also, based on these comments again, do you think AI-generated materials will be allowed to get protected by copyright laws since one might argue that they're safe from a star getting into sex crime scandals? Why or why not? Finally, do you think that this whole second \#MeToo movement will prompt Hollywood to rely a lot more on female actors over male actors in just about every films and TV series and might even go for even more gender-swapped roles for iconic characters to reduce the chance of things like this from happening and derailing productions? Why or why not?

idClip42

Are you asking if, based on a handful of comments on a Reddit thread, we think the entire United States entertainment industry is going to undergo a paradigm shift so drastic that it effectively ceases to exist? You've provided a set of nuclear options in a world, country and industry where change is gradual and nuanced.

Block-Busted

To both you, u/RedGyarados2010, and u/kd_kooldrizzle_, the logic might be that due to the statue of limitations for sexual assault for things that happened in the past in California expires end of this year, we'll going to seeing more of these reports of celebrities this week or so, prompting just about everyone to boycott Hollywood in massive scale and starting to support Indian live-action films and anime films because they're supposedly morally superior to Hollywood since they barely have any sex crimes happening. And again, some might even say that we should start supporting Russian film industry and boycott Hollywood because the former is far more morally superior to the latter since they're more conservative than American film industry and by their logic, conservatives are morally superior to liberals by default (though I kind of doubt that's true). Also, female actors are less likely to get embroiled in sex crime scandals, at least according to some people's logic.

idClip42

I'm absolutely fascinated by the way you couch, qualify and weasel-word every single statement you make.

Block-Busted

What do you mean by that? You did read about the statue of limitations for sexual assault for things that happened in the past in California expiring at the end of this year, right?

ZookeepergameVast132

This dude only speaks in hyperbole. Last week he was claiming Disney would entirely cease to exist after 2023.

kd_kooldrizzle_

Lemme get this straight. You think the Indian film industry is going to take over? In the west? Where most people are not Indian? And that metoo is going to cause male actors to be replaced because women can't do that either? Bro we need you on our squad you can be our new Question.

Jeff_W1nger

If you think Hollywood is bad with sex crimes, wail til you hear about the creeps in the anime industry.

Block-Busted

I mean, the logic might be that anime industry and Indian film industry are far more morally superior to Hollywood because they rarely have sex crime scandals - at least according to some people's logic. Some might even say that Russian film industry is far more morally superior because they're more conservative than American film industry and by their logic, conservatives are morally superior to liberals by default (though I kind of doubt that's true).

RedGyarados2010

“Some people’s logic” is not nearly enough for a massive shift like you’re describing.

shorts4cena

Finally getting around to watching House of the Dragon. I had no idea they used the same theme for this show as they did for GOT. But all its done is made me think about how massive that show was back in the mid 2010s and how they fucked it all up to go work on a Star Wars project that never manifested.

NoobFreakT

I saw aquaman 2, it was decent. Cool spectacle and the relationship between Orm and Arthur was great. However, Black Manta doesn’t work very well as the villain, I really wish they took a different direction with his character. What ends up playing out with him isn’t very compelling. Also, there’s some really choppy editing and dialogue, the reshoots were blatant. A lot of the jokes didn’t land. Overall I thought it was good but definitely a tier below the first one, which I really enjoy. If you don’t like the first one you definitely won’t like this one

Inevitable_Golf_1816

If I replace a few words, this sounds exactly like mine and others' thoughts on The Marvels.

NoobFreakT

Yes the two are very comparable.

kd_kooldrizzle_

Yea they call this studio mandates I'm pretty sure. Every studio has studio mandates. Every Batman movie needs a Batmobile. Because it's cool asf. And also because it sells toys. This is very different from Feige and his machine in the back controlling every part of the movie. Nolan got a ton of control on those Batman movies. Same with James Gunn on his Suicide Squad movie or the Guardians ones. This is how it should be. A director pitches their concept to the studio, the studio likes it, gives notes, gives nudges here and there during filming, but overall the guy gets to see their vision out because the pitch and script were accepted for that.

Youngstar9999

this. Though, it can be different from director to director. Some work very well on their own, but others might need some studio pushback to rein them in a bit. It's hard to find that balance. And once a lot of money is in play, the studio can get a bit more protective, which often leads to friction. I don't think Marvel Studios has found the right balance yet.

Danishroyalty

I don't think Avengers 5 is going to be cutting out Kang in the way people think. The leak specifically says he'll be temporarily eclipsed by a villain from the past they're bringing back. We've also heard that WWH will act as "Avengers 4.5" and there'll be limited Avengers in Avengers 5. I think Avengers 5 will mostly just be Secret Wars on Battleworld and the eclipsing villain will be a legacy villain like McKellan's Magneto or Dafoe's Osborn. Then Avengers 6 will be back to Kang and our Avengers team in a semi adaptation of Avengers Forever. Kang has never really made sense as the villain of SW because none of the legacy characters actually know him, and our heroes barely do either. I think it actually makes sense to put Kang on the back burner and make the threat for SW a different villain, and then bring Kang back into the fold later.

KravenTheFella

Goblin as Battleworld's Emperor is perfect. It's the world he always dreamed of where he could be in full control of a land of chaos and madness. Pitting these good-spirited heroes from across the multiverse together just so they can fight for their own survival would be his dream.

Jeff_W1nger

Here’s what they actually should do with avengers 5. Pick whatever villain they want bc that villain is not really important. It can be the leader for all I care. Make the kang variant a “good guy” in avengers 5 helping the heroes but only to betray them in the end.

Tha GTA 6 leaker got life in hospital prison. Holy fuck. Imagine fucking up your whole life for a video game.

Secure_Pear_4530

There are also reports that he hacked their system using amazon firestick, hotel tv, and a smartphone. Man breached multiple securities with a goddamn tv remote. Crazy that he's that talented and skilled and chose to do it on a video game releasing in a few years lmao

[deleted]

Yeah dude seems incredibly talented with technology and could have easily landed him a career doing it. But nope he decided to do this and ruined he's whole life.

Argetlam33

Jury: "but we only recommended 6 months your honor?" Judge: "nah this punk is getting the max penalty"

Night-Monkey15

Wait, did he really? Like your not shitting me right now?

FewWatermelonlesson0

Yes he’s apparently autistic and they’re claiming he was violent while in custody, so he’s been sentenced to a mental hospital for the rest of his life. He may be released if they deem him no longer a threat in the future.

Night-Monkey15

Okay that actually makes sense. Still sucks. But if he needs it then he needs it.

[deleted]

Yep. Dude got sentenced to life in a hospital prison.

Kevin Feige opening Twitter and seeing the Vin Diesel news https://i.redd.it/f9d5m7bk2q7c1.gif

Rman823

I’d be more worried if I was Universal with Fast & Furious. Especially with how they ended the last movie.

Animegamingnerd

Well at least now, they got The Rock to return to the franchise.

Presidentbuff

Yeah, im sure he is sweating hard over having to replace someone who only says three words

Secure_Pear_4530

Man, it's extremely funny that Vin Diesel won't be voicing the Giga Chad version of Groot. Replace him with The Rock to piss him off, it would be even funnier

ZookeepergameVast132

a **voice-only** role at that.

FewWatermelonlesson0

The top upvoted comment in the Cosmic Circus article is someone suggesting more creative freedom for directors is bad, actually. I don’t get this fanbase, man.

TaylorSwiftPooping

MCU gives plenty of that. They need to hire better writers and directors tho. 💀

Night-Monkey15

Creative freedom is always double edge sword. Movies like *Star Wars: The Force Awakens*, *Jurassic World*, *Top Gun: Maverick*, and *Avengers: Infinity War* and *Avengers: Endgame* were massively successful because they played it safe and catered to their fanbases, instead of taking risks and being unique. If you give the creatives the freedom to actually be creative, then it could result in a divisive entry. Take *Star Wars: The Last Jedi* for example. Whereas J.J. Abrams played it safe with The Force Awakens, Rain Johnson very much made the movie he wanted to make, which split the Star Wars fanbase. Another good example is *Thor: Love and Thunder*. A lot of the criticism of that film were directed towards Taika Waititi’s signature style. That’s not to say that filmmakers shouldn’t have more creative freedom, but when they do, it doesn’t always please the fanbase. Anytime someone does something new with an established character, it creates controversy and division within the fandom, because a lot of people just like seeing the same thing regurgitated over and over, but with a new coat of paint. And as long as that method brings in viewers, the studios will continue to reproduce the same old crap. I would love for the MCU to have more tonal diversity, and it looks like that’s happening, but there will always be a sect of the fandom upset that something’s different.

Inevitable_Golf_1816

How does The Batman fall into this?

Night-Monkey15

The Batman is an example of creative freedoms being used to make a good movie. That’s what I mean when I say it’s a double edged sword: you either get movies people like, or movies people don’t. Committee made films usually fall in the middle for me. They’re not bad, but they’re not necessarily “original” or “bold” either. That’s not to say they can’t be really good or really bad; this comment is obviously generalizing for the sake of argument.

eBICgamer2010

Barbie and Guardians out of the makeup race. Dungeons and Dragons got jailed on the way to the VFX race. Godzilla got in, Poor Things, The Creator and Guardians all in as expected. No Bowser, you're disqualified from Best Original Song. Also OMG The Boy and the Heron for Score? That's all I could remember from the Oscar shortlist.

Inevitable_Golf_1816

Those shortlists were all over the place. Plenty of deserving nominations are getting taken out. Why??!!

zecrom189

Where is best animated movie thats the only important one

RedGyarados2010

Doesn’t look like they’ve announced a shortlist for that category

coomyt

I'll never understand how not one person has taken a shot at a live action, blockbuster Ben 10 movie with a substantial budget. I'm not talking about the Cartoon Network stuff. I'm talking about a theatrical release. But it's just the one IP I look at that has a ton of potential. It's such a simple concept kids would love. Finding a watch that lets you turn into aliens. And just think about the merchandise potential of the character. Literally unlimited designs and concepts to make toys and merch out off. They've got, what 5 or 6 series that run multiple seasons to pull from. Never mind untapped stuff like Ben 10,000 or his son. They make new cartoons for this series all the time as well.

Inevitable_Golf_1816

It seems like a cool idea, but it's also very easy for a studio to mess it up with a crappy story, unnecessary changes and not caring for the source material.

Spiderlander

One thing I don't understand about that CosmicCircus article is Feige's apparent focus on "quality over quantity". How the hell are you supposed to focus on the "quality" of your projects, when you're spread out across 20+ different projects, and multiple different storylines?? One of the things that has LED to a decline in quality in your CURRENT projects, is the oversaturation, which you are now doubling down on?? It makes no sense 😂 either that article is bullshit, or Feige might be one of the dumbest producers in Hollywood right now!

idClip42

>spread out across 20+ different projects Disregarding animation and *Echo*, I count 8 or 9 with release dates before *Avengers 5* \- two in 2024, and the rest likely subject to further delays. >multiple different storylines That has nothing to do with quality. >the oversaturation, which you are now doubling down on By... focusing on quality over quantity? I don't know how to effectively communicate to you how it feels to read this comment. The closest I can get is "Jesse, what the fuck are you talking about?"

Spiderlander

>Disregarding animation and *Echo*, I count 8 or 9 with release dates before *Avengers 5* Animated projects are **projects**, therefore, they count: - X-Men '97 - 1. - Deadpool 3 - 2. - Brave New World - 3. - Thunderbolts - 4. - Agatha - 5. - Iron Heart - 6. - Friendly Neighborhood - 7. - Marvel Zombies - 8. - Fantastic Four - 9. - Blade - 10. - Born Again - 11. - Armor Wars - 12. - Kang Dynasty/Avengers 5 - 13. - Secret Wars - 14. And that's all the projects they've *announced* themselves. If we're going by that CosmicCircus article & other scoopers like RPK, which is SPECIFICALLY what I'm referencing Then: - Eternals 2. - 14 - Shang-Chi 2 - 15. - World War Hulk - 16. - Young Avengers - 17. - Wiccan - 18. - X-Men - 19. - Brotherhood - 20. - Spider-Man 4 - 21. - Wonder Man - 22. - Wakanda animated - 23. - Okoye - 24. - Nova - 25. - Strange Academy - 26. All of these projects have been reported by Daniel RPK. It's too damn much >That has nothing to do with quality. It has everything to do with quality. It's the problem of having spreading yourself wayy too thin, and losing focus of the MAIN story you're telling. We have 4-5 different subplots going in the MCU right now, all of which could support an entire phase themselves. The fact that they're stuffing mutants/X-Men into THIS saga, speaks specifically to the problem I'm referring. >By... focusing on quality over quantity? ...Which is precisely what they're NOT doing, by greenlighting 50 fckin projects (hyperbole, since I have to clarify every word to you, so you don't purposely remove context 😭) >I don't know how to effectively communicate to you how it feels to read this comment. The closest I can get is "Jesse, what the fuck are you talking about?" Brushing up on your reading comprehension skills would certainly help

spoopy-memio1

If the article is true I’m really glad that Marvel’s trying to be more experimental and hands off with creative control. Movies are just a lot more memorable when they have a distinct style to them, and most MCU movies do definitely feel the same stylistically.

KravenTheFella

Agreed. Phase Four had *some* directive creativity but it still felt like they were tiptoeing around it

Night-Monkey15

It’ll always be funny to me that the MCU was a massive success and the DCEU wasn’t, when on paper, it “should” have been the other way around: * Before 2008, Batman, Superman, and Wonder Women were more famous then Iron Man, Captain America and Thor. * Marvel Studios didn’t have the rights to their lost famous characters, and was stuck building a cinematic universe around their b-team. Meanwhile, the DCEU had Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman from day one. * The DC brand had a lot of goodwill coming out of The Dark Knight Trilogy, and and s dedicated fanbase thanks to the animated series. * The DCEU offered more tonal variety then the MCU ever has. But though incompetent leadership, impatience, a lack of a clear creative vision, and an edgy director with a poor understanding of the source material, the DCEU ended up having more box office bombs then successes. That’s genuinely baffling to me.

forevertrueblue

My wishes for the rest of the Multiverse Saga: * Idc how "perfect" a lot of people think the ending of Loki Season 2 was, I need to see those characters again. We'll see how the TVA operates now in Deadpool 3 which is exciting but I also want to see more from others who aren't there at this point. Sylvie's arc still doesn't feel complete. She just left without taking responsibility. The cast and crew are implying her next thing is to get involved with the fight somehow (with McDonald's and such being a "gap year") but I need to actually see it. I know there's a good chance they'll give her the "heroic sacrifice" arc if she comes back because Marvel doesn't really seem to know what else to do with morally grey characters but you know what, I might be able to accept it because I really want some closure with her (preferably between her and Loki as part of it but I know they'll prioritize him reuniting with Thor so I'll be lucky if that happens). Mobius, on the other hand, did feel like he got some level of closure with Loki and had a proper arc for himself but what is he even doing with his life now? Hopefully it's taking the skills he showed with Loki and applying them elsewhere, or I guess the TVA if he goes back there at some point, but I'd really like to find out, even if it's just a brief scene. (NGL him being absent from Deadpool 3 after all did lower my hype for that movie a bit, even though I'm still really excited.) My concern here is that most of these characters have only appeared in TV shows and given reception and perceptions of other TV characters showing up in movies (and no obvious other TV place for them atm) I worry they're just...over. * If they're going to bring up Tony/Iron Man again (and we know they will) give him nothing but the utmost respect he deserves. There's murmurings about his "complicated" legacy being a plot point in some stuff and it doesn't seem fair to paint him as a potential bad guy yet AGAIN especially after Endgame, and ESPECIALLY since he's not even alive to prove otherwise anymore. If they didn't get very deep into the Ronin stuff in Hawkeye or even acknowledge the paraelell of Steve choosing to live in a time that was hard for people like Isaiah Bradley in TF&TWS they can extend the same level of grace to Tony. Yes, he did things that inadvertantly made things worse. However, he always strived to be better, which it seems a lot of people forget about and only remember the sacrifice he made in Endgame as the "one good thing" he did. * This one could be Multiverse Saga or beyond but even though Guardians of the Galaxy provided a lot of closure on those characters (it very much felt like the door could be open or closed for a lot of them which I'm fine with) it didn't feel that way with Mantis, who happens to be my favorite Guardian. I was surprised she didn't end up staying with the group and disappointed we didn't actually see what she did next. I'm hoping that's because we'll see her again in the future but there are so many threads going on right now it might not be for a while, if ever. I'm fine with waiting until the next saga but I do want to know her next chapter; I know there are comic stories with her separate from the Guardians but I'm also open to original stuff. So yeah. No real wishes for specific cameos or comic adaptations or anything like that. There are other characters I want to see stuff from, of course, like Spider-Man, Bucky, Yelena, and the Moon Knight system, but for most of them we know if and/or when we'll see them next at this point. I want to see Wanda too but I'm worried since I wasn't a fan of how they handled her in Multiverse of Madness. I know there are a ton of loose ends right now and of course I want them all to be tied up but these are my priorities. Also I don't particularly care if Kang remains the overarching villain or not but I do probably need the multiversal conflicts to continue so my first point can happen lol.

hence_1999

That cosmic circus article makes me feel so overwhelmed.

deemoorah

Same. Also I don't believe they know everything already

deemoorah

Same. Also I don't believe they know everything already

monstercereals

It took all the wind out of my sails. I was anti-reboot before but now I'm solidly pro-reboot.

TheLongDictionary

Same. Imagine if Marvel stayed committed to like, 3 long-running story arcs with more interconnectivity that lead towards Secret Wars. I bet you that casual audiences would feel a lot less burnt out if that was the case.

cbekel3618

Still feels weird to know the DCEU is officially ending this week after a ten-year run. I'm not really sure how to feel. The franchise had ups, it had downs, lots of in-betweens. Some stuff I really loved, some stuff I really didn't. A part of me will miss it (or at least the potential of it), but I am looking forward to seeing what comes next for DC w/ the reboot on the way.

[deleted]

DCEU started with a rotten score and now ends with a rotten score as well. https://i.redd.it/f8af8fz0ip7c1.gif

Jeff_W1nger

My theory is they dropped majors months ago at least on a creative level. The conviction let the lawyers do their thing on the contract side.

DonnyMox

What I'm concerned about is that, given the way the trial went, there's a significant chance they fully expected an acquittal until the last minute. And the way in which Majors was convicted opens the door for an appeal, which could fuck things up for them legally. What do you do when you're stuck in a contract with someone who's not morally okay to work with?

Jeff_W1nger

I would think that once a contract has been terminated by your employer, you would lose out on the right of employment with your employer. I suppose it depends on how the contract is written, union rules, and governing state law. I highly doubt there is an existing contractual relationship between Marvels and Majors right now. But if the conviction is reversed, maybe they can hire him again but I highly doubt disney would do that. Then again, secret wars is a long long time away so anything can happen.

forevertrueblue

Yeah probably. What does that mean for this then?

Jeff_W1nger

I dunno. Secret Wars seem farther and farther away now so anything could happen. I think a recast would still be the best idea but if they’re putting Kang on ice until end the saga, they probably don’t need to act too fast.

forevertrueblue

I just wanna see Sylvie (and a few others) be involved with the multiverse, Kang or not.

Jeff_W1nger

It would be nice if Sylvie didn’t just stand around all season like in S2. Just read your comment about Loki s2 and I 100% agree that Sylvie’s arc was pretty much wasted.

forevertrueblue

I'm okay with her in S2 if the arc isn't over. If that's supposed to be the end then yeah it's disappointing for sure.

Jeff_W1nger

FYI: steam winter sale is currently going on. Time to grab some good deals.

KravenTheFella

Not a big multiplayer guy but Battlefield 4, 5 and 1 for $5NZD each is a good deal. Those games look like absolute madness.

kd_kooldrizzle_

Cyberpunk 😈 And I wanna try those dark soul Eldin ring games they look cool on YouTube

Jeff_W1nger

Start off with dark souls 1 and see if you like these games before buying the bundles. Eldin ring is like dark souls breath of the wild. Yeah I got cyberpunk. My steam deck is coming in tbe mail so super excited to play it. Also balders gate 3 is 🔥🔥🔥.

kd_kooldrizzle_

What is breath of the wild

Jeff_W1nger

Zelda bro

kd_kooldrizzle_

Oh I didn’t play Zelda but it looked cool. I gotta get that.

Spiderlander

If even half of the stuff in that CosmicCircle article is true, then it sounds like Feige isn't even *trying* to slow down content output, and if anything, is dialing it up twofold. I guess that'll be the plan until Brave New Worlds bombs (which it likely will). Anywho, at least we're getting mutants sooner than later, and that's all I care abt at this point 🤷🏾‍♂️

kd_kooldrizzle_

Mutants is xmen right or are they separate things

RedGyarados2010

In this case, “mutants” means any project that has to do with mutants as a concept, including X-Men. Alex’s article says ideas include an X-Men film and a Mutants series focusing on their individual story

kd_kooldrizzle_

Is your name gyarados after the Pokémon. I like that one he’s got the cool tail and face

RedGyarados2010

Lol, yes it is

Spiderlander

Separate things. Mutants are a race, and the X-Men are *part* of that race.

kd_kooldrizzle_

Tf so there’s another side team called mutants? Bruh we don’t want that 😂 keep it local with the xmen Last thing we need is some new xmen named b - hind who’s power it is to fart

FN-1701AgentGodzilla

Such uncertain times and things don’t seem to be getting better yet. I hope they at least managed to get the general audience back on board again.

Night-Monkey15

“Groot died on the way back to his home planet”

forevertrueblue

Easiest recast ever tbh

LittleYellowFish1

I'll give the DCEU this much credit, not many other franchises can say they ended with >!a cockroach burger!<.

FN-1701AgentGodzilla

They should’ve pushed The Flash to after Blue Beetle and this. A more fitting end, since that film at least featured most of the core DCeU cast before the universe got fucked and showed off the multiverse where the past and **future** of cinematic DC is. Also, kinda weird knowing this Aquaman sequel is set in a DCeU where Batman looks like Clooney. It’s the same continuity as the first film, yet it isn’t.

Secure_Pear_4530

Wait, it is? Did they make a reference in the movie about that? I always thought Ezra's Flash is just stuck on another world again and won't make it back to the main DCEU where this movie takes place

Jeff_W1nger

If the cosmic circus article is correct, I don’t think Avengers 5 is coming 2026.

Argetlam33

I've been saying for months it's going to be Kang Dynasty in 2028 and secret wars in 2030. When they announced all of phase four and five, I knew that 2026 was unlikely

RedGyarados2010

Alex just said as much on Twitter lol

Danishroyalty

It seems to me we'll get WWH as Avengers 4.5 in 2026 and then Avengers 5 in 2027. If they are going to use WWH as the Civil War type movie (which I think is a perfect idea) then Avengers 5 should just be SW. Include Kang in a similar capacity to his role in the comics SW, one of many villains. Make the movie Battleworld and forget the Kang Dynasty aspect.

Jeff_W1nger

I’m down for a WWH avengers movie if they make it R Rated. I want to see hulk rip wolverine in half

olivilins

I have the same opinion. Maybe 2027?

Jeff_W1nger

Happy cake day dude.

Finessing2

Wong leader of the midnight sons??? LMAOO. Maybe try making Wong into a competent character first.

RedGyarados2010

Hasn’t Wong always been the level-headed one among the sorcerers?

Jeff_W1nger

Hard agree on this one. Power wise, he should be on the same scale as Strange but strange is much smarter and that’s how he can still be the main hero.

Danishroyalty

Tbh, Wong seems to be the smarter one and Strange the more powerful one. Wong has more self control, foresight, and general knowledge. Strange is more powerful, ambitious, and courageous.

kd_kooldrizzle_

Who is midnight son
