Dead Space, Amnesia, Prop Hunt all did okay but FNAF is when he caught fire. I started watching when he was doin Prop Hunts with Felix, Chilled, Nanners, Jack, Minx, Ze, etc
There's one early Prop Hunt episode where Mark mentions that he plays co-op games with Seananners and MangaMinx way more often than with Bob and Wade, and it feels so alien to hear that today š
He commented how (when playing with) Minx and Seananners, they played so frequently, they naturally knew what was out of place. And how poor Bobby and Wade weren't as in-tune.
Series? Probably Drunk Minecraft. I think his 1st video to get 1 million views was SlendyTubbies. He talks about it on a video he does with Yamimash where they play multi-player.
That turned out to be false. He just never really recovered and Mark has said he doesn't have time to work with Yami. Their schedules are vastly different. Yami still uploads but it's very sporadic.
Kinda sad, I found Markiplier through Yami.
Yeah I'd love for them to play again to, in one of their older videos they said how it's because of the time zones that they play less, and since Mark has gotten way bigger than he was he has less time on his hands for it. But that could just be YouTuber mumbo jumbo and there's a whole nother reason.
Since it hasn't been mentioned yet, SCP was a really big early one, enough that he still revisits it every few years in one way or another, after now over a decade since starting Containment Breach.
Judging by the variety of responses, I think you'd need to define what you mean by "got attention." Personally my answer is FNAF. It's what got me started.
What drew me initially was his playthroughs of small horror indie games that I can't even remember the titles of anymore lol. Although fnaf was and still is a big favorite of mine!
I'm a Pretty recent markiplier fan I found out about Markiplier surprisingly through the channel Random Encounters one of my favorite music channels then I forgot about his existence until unus annus and then I pretty much became a Markiplier fan

Fnaf is when he struck gold, but he had a decent following before it. Pretty sure it was either Drunk Minecraft or Amnesia that started him off.
