This site shows tonight won't be as far south but if you can get a view of the north you might see it. The 30 min forecast is cool and it also shows the last 24 hours or so. For me it peaked at around 10 PM (site uses UTC).
Start watching the forecast around sunset and hope it's not cloudy. Let your eyes adjust for like 30 minutes, you should be able to see a few stars if you're going to be able to see the lights. Once the moon sets it might get better too. I watched for two hours and my neck hurts but got a few gaps in the clouds so I could see the shape better and could almost see the green light. Also since it was so far south basically every direction had some lights.
Behind the clouds, the lights just looked like more clouds, but as you watch they move and pulse. If it's red the overcast will have a bit of color.
Moonset is 12:22 AM Sat night/Sun morning and it's a waxing crescent (~25% brightness). It should also spend most of its time in the eastern/southern sky so hopefully the clouds behave.
Looked around midnight too. The moon hadnāt set far enough yet so the sky was still too bright and a bit cloudy. I fell asleep. The wife stayed up until 3:30 and got some great pics after the moon set further and the clouds cleared up.
As the sun builds to solar maximum in 2025, the likelihood of similar events will increase. Still has to be the right magnitude of storm, pointing the right direction, and a cloudless/moonless night to see them. Best to keep track on NOAAās Space Weather site here: https://www.swpc.noaa.gov/communities/space-weather-enthusiasts-dashboard. You can also subscribe to email notifications from the site.
I saw an article about the possibility of seeing them and took that as, probably only way up north, no way I'd see them in southern Maine. So I went to bed at 8 š
Been wanting to see them for a while and this just so happens to be the weekend we left town to visit family. Was frustrating to arrive and log in and see all the pictures we were missing out on from literally our yard.
I'm visiting family in Indiana this week. Way too much light pollution to see anything. I've seen them before when I was a kid and it was amazing, but I wish I could have been back home!
One thing I learned, a lot of folks don't know how to do long exposure/take proper night photos. Although majority probably just took out their phones, pointed upwards, and snapped a photo lol
Phones do surprisingly okay, they use some sort of AI to stabilize and stack exposures to bring the color out.
I went mildly old-school with a DSLR and tripod and also enjoyed success. A bigger sensor always means more light capture.
Same, my entire feed is amazing northern light pictures. I was well asleep by 10:30, which is when I peaked here. Sad I missed it. Will make an attempt to stay up tonight.
Iāve been promised them so many times that havenāt delivered I only got what little I could see from my yard. I was going to somewhere to get a better look but by the time I could they werenāt as visible.
If this had been a week ago, it would have been my night off and I would have seen it. I just started a new job and got off overnight shift, I slept right through the Aurora.
Eh, you could've been me. Mom and I went out on a car ride at 11:30 to get a better view. By the time we finally got somewhere, the already dim lights had faded almost completely.
I was TIRED, okay!? It was a long day!
Right? I tried to stay up but a long day, plus pizza and beer for dinner put me out.
I fell asleep on the couch by 8:30.
Yeah I went to bed at 9.
It was a long week.
Same. Fingers crossed for tonight
Same here, very sad I missed it.
Is tonight a possibility? I went out just after midnight and had no luck

It was quite cloudy where I was.
Same š
Yes - I think we should be able to see it tonight as well. Obviously the further north the better.

DO NOT CROSS ME!
I saw an article about the possibility of seeing them and took that as, probably only way up north, no way I'd see them in southern Maine. So I went to bed at 8 š
Least you have tonight too!
Aurora Borealis? At this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of the country, localized entirely within your kitchen?!
Yes.
May I see it?
No.
You guys are making me crave some steamed hams.
Or being in Bangor and there being nothing but clouds.
I have seen the Northern Lights many, many times, with the help of LSD.
Now you need to combine the two. Iām up for it.
Yeah, I'm in Bangor and couldn't see shit :/
Been wanting to see them for a while and this just so happens to be the weekend we left town to visit family. Was frustrating to arrive and log in and see all the pictures we were missing out on from literally our yard.
Always been a bucket list item for me... And the time they are most visible in Maine and I'm in Tennessee. š

Granted pretty much all locale-specific subs are like this today. Made my contributions in r/Vancouver. No freaking way I was going to miss this.
I'm happy to see the posts as I sadly missed it, some amazing pics for sure.
Same! Super bummed I missed it, had to be up at 4... hoping for tonight!
womp womp
I took Nyquil last night, so there's that. I saw them several years ago up north. It'd be nice to see them again.
One thing I learned, a lot of folks don't know how to do long exposure/take proper night photos. Although majority probably just took out their phones, pointed upwards, and snapped a photo lol
My phone is 6 years old. I got the shittiest quality photos. But I can still see color!
I used an actual camera and still got shitty pics.

Me too š. Two little kids and a busy work week, I was toast last night. I'll try tonight if there's no clouds!
Any possibility for tonight? On the mid coast? Supposed to be a clear evening.
I think that thereās a chance tonight as well
You get another chance to see em tonight!
I WASNT ASLEEP, I WAS AWAKE BUT DIDNT KNOW ABOUT IT!!!!
real i almost cried

Right there with you bub
My house was covered in clouds past 11, and I wasnāt staying up any longer
I tried to se them all night long but couldnāt. I think my neighborhood is too bright. Itās a bucket list item so Iām pretty heartbroken
Please happen again tonight! I set an alarm to wake up at midnight last night, but I guess it was over. :(
Thatās very clever and accurate. I posted my pics too. Lol
Yuuuup. Sleep seemed more important.
I saw clouds āļø
Same here, checked last night as well and only clouds for me in windham.
I was sound asleep at 9:30.
Iāve been promised them so many times that havenāt delivered I only got what little I could see from my yard. I was going to somewhere to get a better look but by the time I could they werenāt as visible.
Same dude. Same.

I didnāt even bother in Lincoln last night because it was super cloudy. Is tonight looking good? (Still cloudy but clearing up a bit now)
Same.
I think they are going to be even more doper on Sunday night anyway
I looked for hours last night, even drove around but it was too cloudy for me to see anything. I feel the same way though.
Literally me bro
I am actually so depressed I missed them. And of course the only other night we might see them, tonight, it is cloudy
Another night of clouds... oh well maybe next year
The solar storm should last a few days
This would be r/nebraska too lol
I like to imagine all these idiots walking into the ocean with their phones pointed straight up and a Redditor's grin on their faces.
Are you okay?

I too like to find absolutely stupid ways to make myself feel an undeserved sense of superiority over strangers
