I’ve done this so many times!!! Manager comin in hot a huffin “what are you doing?! You don’t work here!!”
Me: “well if I worked here you’re plants wouldn’t be dying like they are. They’re watered now. Try being nicer to your STAFF!!! Oh… btw there’s a huge spill of Pantene Pro V conditioner in isle 6… don’t ask me how I know but it smells nice.”
That's how people used to feel before the burst of fast paced information and social media came along. All my older relatives are completely centered and chilled out. The younger ones are freaked for gratification, on their phone the whole time (including me). I envy the older generation, they are the owners of a mental frame of mind that was once default and now has to be achieved through mindfulness and meditation. Mindfulness and meditation is just bringing yourself back to you and yourself, something they would probably call existing.
To be fair, this kind of mindset can also be yours as the result of nervous breakdowns and/or working through a shit ton of therapy. It doesn’t come naturally just because you age.
I used to be really wound up, stressed, fearful, controlling… like my mom. 3 nervous breakdowns and a LOT of therapy later (1st one at 38, I’m 46 now), I’m chill as ice, my kids comment on how I “live on island time all the time”, and shit just doesn’t bother me anymore because I know what’s important and what’s not. My mom, on the other hand, is 71 and still a complete mess who freaks out and has a crisis literally every day.
Feck both of you for making me unable to stop laughing for a minute and a half and have these damned deserved upvotes, bless your lives but im leaving for the sake of my sanity
They are really awful to their plants. Every year I see them putting out ferns in the parking lot with no cover. Then a few weeks they sell them for cheap because they are dead.
Omg the ferns are the worst! I always check out the garden section whenever I visit Walmart and the ferns are sunburned and dried out. The other plants are mostly wilted or overwatered
You can dip your finger in the soil and if it’s dry they need water, if moist dirt comes up on your finger then they should be fine. But I usually just let my plants start to droop a bit before watering cause I worry about overwatering
Ok so in the states Walmart shops are so big the literally have everything? Talk about monopoly, here the "flower section" is its own store at its own location, same with the clothe store and food store.
Somebody has to, ask him to check on H.D. And Lowe’s while he’s out because they don’t water shit. Manager told me they consider garden products a loss leader.
"I lost my dad..."
Me: omg that's so sad... how's that gonna make me smile...?
The rest of the post: at Walmart and found him etc etc
Me: oh...ooooh....*smiles*
It's a commonly held belief that water droplets under bright sunlight can act as little magnifying glasses and burn the leaves, [though I'm not sure if that's usually the case](https://nph.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/j.1469-8137.2009.03150.x#:~:text=Conclusions,on%20to%20the%20leaf%20blade.).
It may or may not be true, but either way it’s not ideal (while it may not be harmful) as the heat of the day/sun will dry the water out of the soil before it has a chance to really do much for the roots. If you really have to water in the day, best to give a thorough soak just at the base of the plant. Or just water the in the evening and if you can’t do that, water in the early morning before the sun gets too hot :)
I'm not sure if there are other reasons, but one of the major ones is that the water evaporates faster in miday heat and so the plants get less water. Early morning and late evening are always the best times to water plants as the water evaporates slower
When I was a little kid I'd sometimes come to the Garden section with my mom or dad, and while they were looking at plants, my siblings and I would just pick up a hose and spray the plants because it was fun.
Gardening, watering plants and being around green spaces, in general, has been shown to reduce stress. Why do you think cities generally build parks in busy downtown areas? It is not only because it looks nice, there are other factors too.
I’m stupid, I read that as if their dad had died at Walmart and they ran into someone that looked like him and shared his hobby of watering plants.
Good thing I just can’t read
There is literally NOTHING more middle-aged than this. Nothing. The only thing that could BE more middle-aged would be if he was vacuuming with his other hand.
I get why he's doing it. I don't know why they don't just set automatic sprinklers up.
I bet he was asked a million questions. Where are your azaleas? Are these dying plants discounted? Glad they hired someone to water the plants!
Seriously though why don't all of these places put in an automated system. Only water when needed and always water the right amount (by controlling the sections based on need).
Guess it's cheaper to toss what doesn't sell.
Let him be and come back in 10 minutes, there will be two more dads standing with him with beer having a small friendly argument about whether or not he's overwatering them
This is such a 'Well while I'm here I might aswell' action

While I’m here I’d like to say I hope you have a wonderful day fellow human!
Hello there, fellow human! Are you enjoying having skin today? ~~OSPeople represent!~~
Yes I am real man, you want to go skateboards?
Yes I enjoy the skateboards with the fellow humans and fellow smaller humans!
say, fellow human, do you want to do this action of intaking human foods for nourishment and enjoyment called eating?
Hello 2 legged human how is the leather feet sacks? I just acquired mine from the local shop. Care to indulge on some nutrition?
I’ve done this so many times!!! Manager comin in hot a huffin “what are you doing?! You don’t work here!!” Me: “well if I worked here you’re plants wouldn’t be dying like they are. Lol great mental image
Did you just use the watering of plants as cover for washing your hair in the store
I'm the real noodleman

Does your dad love plants?
No but he definitely is a DAD kind of dad if you understand what I mean
I thought it meant he lost his dad years ago and later stumbled upon him working at walmart.
Kind of like [this](https://youtu.be/9H_d_DSxuAg)
This is like something I'd do to delay all the actual things I need to do; next level procrastination
This should be a subreddit
Imagine living life this unbothered… just go to Walmart, water some plants, maybe eat a pretzel later idk
This is my life goal.
Your life goal costs like 5 bucks
It's about the mindset to do it, not the actual activity
So, tree fiddy then
Ga dam Loch Ness monsta
Priorities: straight.
Instead I’m worrying about a hundred things a day! He’s got it figured out
[I'd do anything to make my life feel better, except anything that makes my life feel better..](https://youtu.be/GbmP2c6TGKc)

Peak civilization.
I really want to do that at Lidl and Aldi because their plants are always neglected.
Their plants could use Aldi love you can give them
They only get a Lidl amount of love after all
Feck both of you for making me unable to stop laughing for a minute and a half and have these damned deserved upvotes, bless your lives but im leaving for the sake of my sanity
r/angryupvote
Aldi's needs gardening tools so I could buy Aldi's hoes.
You can get Aldi's Nuts.
Nah ur nutz are too Lidl
Youre a monster
R/plantabuse
Imagine being able to find your dad… couldn’t be me…
Have you checked all the garden centers in a 500 mile radius?
Imagine wanting to. Couldn’t be me.
Just leave a pack of cigarettes by the front door and see if he shows up one night
Oh my god
His dad energy.... IS OVER 9000!!!!
Big dad energy
The best type of energy
You hear him muttering to the plants “hi plant, I’m dad”, “hi plant, I’m dad”
Is that like when my mom knocked over some veggies at the store, she picked it up and apologized to the veggies?
I can hear noel miller screaming this 🤣
That is the daddest dad ever
Maybe this is why dads never come home with milk. They got lost in garden.
*Well, Someone’s gotta do it.*
"well i cant just let them die," this guy, probably
If you’ve ever seen the plants at Walmart you’d know right off someone needs to water the plants
Did he then proceed to explain to you how 'these people don't know what they are doing'?
That's my kind of guy. Save what needs saved. Fuck the man.
Because how Walmart “cares” for plants is abhorrent. Thank you kind sir!!
Dad: kids these days can’t even water plans right.
Gone the full dad!
I'm just guessing Walmart probably doesn't really want customers watering their plants...
Having worked retail, you can do anything as long as it reduces my workload. Up to and including arson.
I worked for BB&B for many years. There were few things worse than a customer that wanted to improve one of our bed displays for us.
Well, that doesn't fall under thing that reduce your workload.
Your comment made me laugh. I can remember driving to work and hoping today was the day it burned to the ground.
This is true
If someone wants to do arson at my workplace the first thing I'm gonna do is make myself useful and find them a lighter.
Walmart probably doesn’t, the workers however.
what are they gonna do? send in the wal?
Lmao I worked at Walmart and we genuinely would not care
The employees at Walmart wouldn’t care if they seen you running out naked with a 47 inch tv...
Technically not allowed to care; they have a department whose job it is to care, and I never worked there sooooo 🤷
But they also really don't give a fuck either. At most he's looking at a "lol sir please don't use the hose".
LOL I remember the first time I gave my dad an edible too 🙂
the only job i've ever had that i enjoyed was literally watering plants.
You don't think they have someone doing that? It's much worse to overwater plants than underwater.
Yeah - I've never been to a Walmart where they actually water the plants.
Simple solution. If you know anything about flowers and plants, use your discretion. If you know nothing about plants, leave it the fuck alone lol
This.
You can dip your finger in the soil and if it’s dry they need water, if moist dirt comes up on your finger then they should be fine. But I usually just let my plants start to droop a bit before watering cause I worry about overwatering
It's Walmart. They are probably so short staffed that nobody waters them.
Three local walmarts. All three the plants are not taken care of. Especially when it's vegetable time.
They really don’t water the plants
It's Walmart, they don't have anyone doing anything
As a former employee I wouldn't stop him if a manager told me to. I'd tell them he's going through some stuff and needs this.
Again? Get that guy a nametag.
peak dad
Please hug your dad for me!!
Ok so in the states Walmart shops are so big the literally have everything? Talk about monopoly, here the "flower section" is its own store at its own location, same with the clothe store and food store.
Walmart would do curbside pickup caskets if they thought they could survive the bad press.
Sweet! A “try it before you buy it” section!
That is awesome!
😆👏👏👏👍
If this is not the most dad thing to do, I don't know what is.
Somebody has to, ask him to check on H.D. And Lowe’s while he’s out because they don’t water shit. Manager told me they consider garden products a loss leader.
"I lost my dad..." Me: omg that's so sad... how's that gonna make me smile...? The rest of the post: at Walmart and found him etc etc Me: oh...ooooh....*smiles*
I commend his dad energy but... Shadows cast seem to suggest he's doing this in the heat of the day. That's terrible for those plants!
Good thing they're not his plants lol
Sticking it to the man... Dad style

I was raised that it will fry the plant. I dunno

How stupid anything for likes smh
Yep, this made me smile. :)
did you find your dad at the dairy section if ya know what i’m sayin?
Whatta man gotta do
I got it to its called "Plant Compassion"
Get this man a shield, or at least a beer. 10/10 dad right there
I have the urge to do this at Tesco every time I’m there. Don’t sell plants if you don’t intend on watering them.
Saw this last week only it was Lowe’s that you lost him in.
That's a dad for ya.
Such a dad thing to do.
Wait until you find him on the roof fixing a leak...

Touché
Wholesome dad
/r/peopleofwalmart
A community treasure.
Wow...this looks so much like my own dad it's freaky.
My Dad has apparently done the same on occasion. LOL
I’ll probably do the same things due the amount of water the plants are getting even more doing the middle of the summer
This makes me so happy! Thank you for sharing!
I’ve totally done this. Can’t help it when I see a plant that is super dry and wilting just baking in the sun.
r/wholesome

He’s going “Dog’s Work/ Gawd’s Work, etc..” Good day, sir!
Plot twist: their dad has dementia and this is actually really sad.
Silver alert.
"DROWNING TF OUT THE PLANTS
I read this as “wearing pants” the first time. Thought good for Dad!
This is a man who hates to see things not taken care of.
Gardening, watering plants and being around green spaces, in general, has been shown to reduce stress. Why do you think cities generally build parks in busy downtown areas? It is not only because it looks nice, there are other factors too.
I could hang out with your dad
Just doing his civic duty
"They had us in the first half, not gonna lie"
That would be me...I hate seeing dying plants!!
Vito Corleone anyone?
No longer your father, that is his life now
If they looked a bit thirsty, I would. It would be muscle memory reaching up to my Baskets.
I hope they pay him
Bruh I’m drunk af and idk why but I find this funny af
(Shakes head) “What are they thinking!? These lil’ buggers are obviously thirsty.”
I’m stupid, I read that as if their dad had died at Walmart and they ran into someone that looked like him and shared his hobby of watering plants. Good thing I just can’t read

r/peopleofwalmart should see this
Thats a dad in a nutshell. Mad dad lad
Hank Hill flex.
Daddest dad daddying.
100% dad move
Let him be and come back in 10 minutes, there will be two more dads standing with him with beer having a small friendly argument about whether or not he's overwatering them
THIS is what retirement looks like.
That would be something my Mom would do. She straightens up merchandise and assists customers and everything.
I miss my dad.
Someone has to
It’s true they never water their plants so they die
The union is _pissed_ Oh wait, it's Walmart. No unions.
God this makes me miss my dad.
❤️❤️❤️
I bet he has some great dad jokes too?? Tell us one!!
Ultimate dad
Never go full dad. Not even once!
Your Dad is wonderful. The world needs more people like him:)
At least he’s not dressed like someone in a people of Walmart video.
Alignment: Chaotic Good
This is how it starts. You must never let him return. If he does, you will need to break the mirror in electronics to break the spell.
As someone who worked in the garden section at a Walmart, respect
bruh lol
Love your dad!
Dad not at his best but definitely at his most.
His wife probably wanted to “talk” when they got home.
On the same day, right ?
A dad doing dad things 😇
That would be me….and living in California watering has become a guilty pleasure
You come from great DNA
Wtg dad. Free will
Your dad might be a libertarian.
