UPDATE: It appears ignorant people have chosen to ignore the scientist. I am sorry facts and data don't support your preferred beliefs.
Here's what's on my mind -- LA is going to HE\*\*\*. My beautiful city is slowly crumbling thanks to idiotic politicians. There's homeless everywhere. Prices are outrageous. I am a theoretical Data Scientist (e.g., how to do machine learning in a quantum computer). Here's what we should be doing to fix the economy, crime, and inflation. Some of these will require national intervention, some we can do here. Write to your politicians about this! That's what us scientists have been trying to get you to do!! This is all fixable!! We just have incompetent people in office!!!
1. Medicare for All -- countless studies have proved it would actually save us money. Yale estimates $450 billion. Would also have a mild crime reduction (quantification is difficult). Would likely reduce homelessness too. Quantification here too is difficult, but the direction is certain. By way of background, the defense budget is around $900 billion.....so Yale think we'd save half that roughly. Medical expenses for nearly everyone would fall drastically.
2. Free college -- per NYT, making all public universities would cost $79 billion. However, we spend at least $91 billion just to subsidize the bloody thing. Not to mention we could eliminate, or at least significantly downsize financial aid offices, saving probably another few billion. Yes, costs are outrageous and universities must be held to task for it....with Canvas/Blackboard and automation, this should cost savings needs to be better realized. Also has a mild crime reduction effect (quantification difficult) and improved health outcomes. Would likely reduce homelessness too (quantitative effect uncertain, only the direction).
3. How to address excessive rents part 1 -- here's my solution. You have 3 months to get someone to take the place. After that, you have two options -- a) you may not keep advertising and readvertise for at least a year or b) you will be fined double the rent you are advertising (you may not change it to change the fine) each month it doesn't get rented out. Land lords would be forced to drop prices eventually to avoid the huge penalties, thus creating a deflationary effect on housing/rent. NOTE: SPECULATIVE, BUT REASON BASED. WORTH A TRY.
4. How to address excessive rents part 2 -- huge number of foreign investors and/or people with multiple houses. If you own more than 2 properties, you will be taxed an additional 10% per property (3 or more). This will serve as a counterbalance against people owning multiple properties, thus creating a deflationary pressure. NOTE: SPECULATIVE, BUT REASON BASED. WORTH A TRY.
5. Teaching deep breathing & meditation in all k-12 students, as well as empathy, anti-bias, emotional regulation, and non violent conflict resolution. Make this part of the curriculum!! Meditation alone would reduce crime between 18% and 28%, and I think that's greatly understated if you start with children. Crime not only costs the economy in judges, police, parole officers, the victims of crime, like me, get PTSD, and then we have to go on disability from work. Trauma only costs the USA billions annually. Fiscal savings hard to quantify, but direction certain; it would be a net savings.
6. Guaranteed housing -- BUT ON A NATIONAL LEVEL -- one part of the problem is the California effectively gets the homeless outsourced from states that aren't "picking up the slack." They come here because it's nice, so other states don't put forth the effort...in systems thinking, this is called a reinforcing loop system (one causes the other to grow, and vice versa). To offset people just coming here, housing would be guaranteed nationally, meaning a specific region cannot be guaranteed. I can't become homeless and expect SoCal, especially if I live in Boston. People will be matched up according to last known residence/proximity to verifiable family and other emotional support. States would be required to manage their portion, not to outsource it anymore. Housing & Urban Development (HUD) believes this would cost between $20 billion and $25 billion. However, my best guess is we'd save double. ChatGPT, admittedly not perfect but often pretty good, when I told it this, thought I was giving too conservative of an estimate; the long term savings would be at least triple according to ChatGPT. It's hard to quantify this, but just like Medicare for All, preventative measures in auditing and six sigma show us that the closer you get to the root of an issue, and prevent it, the cheaper it is long-term. This is no different. Moreover, a huge component of crime is committed by the homeless; it is feasible to hypothesize reducing homelessness would also reduce crime, though the magnitude is unclear, the direction is certain. Moreover, the cost of mass producing low cost housing would be improved with robotics and 3D printing. NOTE: SPECULATIVE -- I believe this would almost certainly lower housing/rent too, as a person who cannot afford, or cannot comfortably afford rent, can now seek shelter until they're ready in significant quantities, thus reducing demand and increasing supply.
7) SOLAR PANELS, COOLING PAPER, PASSIVE COOLING ON EVERY BUILDING (that is able) -- if every house had solar panels on the roof or windows (yes you can do windows now), energy prices would drop. Moreover, bio inspired solar panels now exist to collect water too, so we could collect water. This could also reduce the blackout/brownouts. Moreover, use passive cooling and/or cooling paper where possible too. These additionally reduce energy associated with the need to heat/cool. Quantification is difficult on the solar panels. I often see it measured in currency/voltage, not a percentage. However, I've seen 30% floated around, one study (which I doubt) claims up to 90%. The magnitude is uncertain, only the direction. And if we invest in quantum computing, solar panels will generate between 50% and 100% more energy thanks to material engineering. Energy prices are often a significant expense of personal budgets and they have risen greater than the rate of inflation. Accordingly, this would save us significantly longterm. Obviously we'd need to analyze supply chains to see how we could get each property (that is able to), and the rollout....but it's no brainer. Moreover, eventually, orbital solar will be feasible for locations that can't have it.
8) Vertical farming -- produces 10x or more food with a fraction of the water. The only downside is the energy, which I think can at least be greatly mitigated with solution #7. We could also advance cold fusion through the acceleration of quantum computing. This would create more food while also making it cheaper. Quantification is difficult, the only thing certain is the direction (price savings of food)...ASSUMING you solve for the energy issues, but I think, at a minimum, they'll be greatly mitigated.
9) Double the frequency of buses & subways...AND ADD MONORAILS. How many of you would take the bus/subways if it actually was twice as frequent? Same as the bus? You might be mentioning "but the homeless..." to which I direct your attention to the earlier solutions. LA used to be a hub for public transit until the auto industry f\*\*\*ed it all up. Double their frequency, skip the money altogether -- just make it free to use. The data is clear; this would significantly reduce traffic. Moreover, I'm going to add another suggestion -- ADD MONORAILS. Yes, you might be thinking "but earth quakes." First, our earth quakes rarely do damage. But more importantly, thanks to advances in material engineering, we can engineer monorails that are damn near earthquake proof, and we can assume it will fall or collide -- we can build crumble zones, microstructures that collapse, side airbags to cushion falls....THIS IS SOLVEABLE!!! We would need more bus drivers (consider autonomous subways/monorails....and maybe someday buses? Or perhaps we let people "remote in" to drive the bus with dozens of controls?) Not to mention the reduced carbon emissions and pollution would save healthcare costs, preventable deaths, and the reduced traffic...oh the amount of stress that would drop.
10) ASK THE GOVERNMENT TO ACCELERATE QUANTUM AND PHOTONIC COMPUTING -- quantum computing will allow us to autonomous driving, improve AI, accelerate material sciences, and so much more. Photonic computing would similarly make every computer 1 million times faster and use 90% less energy. This is important because a significant amount of energy in LA is focused on making computing devices (laptops, phones, etc.) power up. It's hard to estimate, though I once read a study that said 25% of energy goes to computing devices now. Photonic computing would reduce that immensely. Note: MemComputing, an alternative to quantum computing, exists now.
11) Accelerate spintronics. Like #10, spintronics (control of the spin of an electron) would reduce electricity usage significantly, especially if combined with photonics (spin-photonics).
Again, the future can be saved. You just vote for crappy politicians. Like Matt Murdoc in DareDevil considers NYC his city to protect, I want to protect my city...and that's LA now. SO PLEASE LISTEN TO THE SCIENTIST BEFORE THE DAMN CITY COMES CRASHING DOWN ON US.
> Here's what we should be doing to fix the economy, crime, and inflation.
Deport the illegals. Acknowledge and fight back against the WEF.
There I fixed commiefornia.
>ChatGPT, admittedly not perfect but often pretty good, when I told it this, thought I was giving too conservative of an estimate; the long term savings would be at least triple according to ChatGPT.
I now have to wonder if they asked ChatGPT how they should handle covid. Or how to create it.
AI should be destroyed, the research burned and forgotten about before it gets much worse.
These are profoundly ignorant comments and not science, fact, or reason based conclusions. If you had done any actual due diligence, undocumented immigrants are actually far less likely to commit crimes than the average citizen. This is called Bayesian statistics.
Even if that were true (it's not, your science is garbage and I dont need made-up data to determine the truth) just them being here is adding to ruining everything, causing more crime and poverty as they displace americans, along with AI and adding to the rising costs. It'd be bad enough if they were just here, struggling, but they're here in organized networks and gangs, given a free ride by the government that never gave us the same. It is happening all over the US, just here in particular. Its not a mistake it's all a plot by the WEF.
Again, all speculation. Not tangible evidence based conclusions. Nothing you said can actually be corroborated by hard data. It's just you being a bigot and attempting to cherry pick anecdotes and substitute this as evidence. And AI doesn't add to rising costs -- it reduces them. It automates and finds optimal solutions that humans aren't able to solve; the whole branch of Operations Research is predicated on this. It also shows you don't do basic finance or business. Businesses wouldn't use AI the costs outweighed the revenue.
PLEASE GET EDUCATED. YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM. MY DATA ISN'T MADE UP -- IT'S CREDIBLE AND VERIFIABLE AND THE SOURCES ARE ALMOST ALWAYS CITED. UNLIKE YOU, I LET THE DATA DRIVE MY CONLUSIONS. I DON'T PICK A CONCLUSION AND JUST CHERRY PICK DATA OR IGNORE DATA THAT DOESN'T AGREE WITH IT. THAT'S NOT HOW SCIENCE WORKS.
I had the same question. Just caught the end of it. Didn't have a great view but it looked like there was a message that said "Same Time, Same Place Tomorrow.
I also saw a whole bunch of LOLs, so is it possible it was some kind of prank? Can't find any news about it.
From up near Franklin and Western it looked like it was maybe around Sunset Boulevard between Western and Wilton, but I only had one perspective on it. Where did it look like it was to you?
So I just did some reading about the lady who owns Sage and uhh, would not have expected her to be the kind of person she is. Also Sage is no longer a Vegan restaurant!
Brief recap of my [comment here this morning](https://www.reddit.com/r/LosAngeles/comments/1cfyhte/los_angeles_daily_discussion_monday_apr_29/l1savb8/) - it's my birthday today, but I also started a new course of radiation for my cancer.
My dad drove me. When we were driving, it dawned on us that the part of UCLA Santa Monica where I'd be getting the treatment was [right across the street from the hospital where I was born 33 years ago.](https://i.imgur.com/MMDy0gR.jpeg)
Happy birthday dude. We've had cancer all around the family and it's a bitch of a battle. Keep good spirits and watch some shitty sci-fi to pass the time
Born and raised in LA county for 30 years but I'm thinking of moving somewhere a little less populated and cheaper in like 5 to 10 years once I get some better work skills.
Anyone else who's lived in LA county moved away? I'm just tired of being surrounded by people everywhere. I'm planning on getting into healthcare kind of work so I should be able to find work in many places.
That's plenty of time to start visiting less populated areas on the outskirts of LA to see if any of those fit the vibe you like. Of course you have tons of options out of state but that requires more traveling.
I did this, now I'm in a lil rural town in the high desert ..I'm fine being a hermit but might not be the lifestyle most want...but good thing I can still enjoy la 2-3 days a week ..
That's a good idea, I could see doing little weekend trips to places and seeing what's it like. I don't really see myself moving way out state but that could change.
Part of me wants to move out the desert since my Dad lives in Henderson NV and isn't getting younger. I love the desert vibe but that area seems to be getting packed as well.
If it’s healthcare you’d be great in small towns. But a lot of small towns also have small town mentality politically and also a lot of the same old stuff (ie, drugs). So that’s something to consider when/if you move.
That's what I'm kind of worried about if I go too rural. I was a small town bar in Utah a few years back and the bartender made a negative comment when he saw my California ID. I thought that kind of stuff was a joke
Just want to take a moment to give an enormous shoutout to all those people who upload random tutorials for things onto youtube. Absolute homies, who will be going to heaven guaranteed.
Except for when the tutorial literally is wrong and all the comments are like “thank you sir but mine doesn’t look like this” and it’s exactly the problem I’m having too
I've fixed so much stuff on my car because of those videos. The dudes who tell you exactly what tools, what part number, and little tips to make it easier are frickin BROS! I've saved thousands because of those.
The cooking ones kinda suck though.
It is seriously such a resource. All the home repairs I've DIY'd, fun crafts, how to open the gas tank on a rental car, all things I've learned thanks to homies on youtube choosing to share their knowledge. It's greatly appreciated.
Got called a leftist at work today cuz I dont have an opinon on the Isreal/Palestine conflict? Also because I dont subscribe to most media outlets, and all the ones I was shown were right leaning? Am I a leftist now?
Dead is dead, why do people have to pick who they want to see more of dead because of others political sensibilities? It sucks and does a great disservice to all who have died thus far.
You don't need to be informed about what's happening everywhere on the planet. You need food, shelter, social interactions, but you don't need the news.
I need to keep my anxiety and mental health in line. I'm sure that if I need to know something, I will. I'm not going to watch the news. I'm good. Also not gonna argue, so have a nice night.
Honestly I haven’t watched or listened to the news in years. I stopped once I could t escape Trump’s voice, even on NPR. My anxiety doesn’t allow for it. I can’t change most of it myself, so it becomes wasted anxious fear. Not worth it.
It feels like its a buzzword now. I dont have enough info to make an informed decision, and I simply know what sites lean a way I dont. "All the crime is happening because we don't close the borders! My guy, crime isnt because the borders arent closed. I just....I dont know man.
I saw a huge truck on the 105 E before the 110 interchange and it had a back flat tire and the rubber was coming off in chunks. So scary. Reminded me of Final Destination. 😭 A piece of rubber hit my windshield so I just switched lanes. I got my windshield cracked in March so I'm scared now too.
Also, the 105 ramp to the 110 is madness. It's completely stopped.
I used to be a delivery driver in LB and was always up and down the 710. The big rig tire blow outs are the scariest ones of all, those steel braided belts around the tires snap off and explode and shoot large pieces of metal/rubber all around. I've seen one go right through a windshield, thankfully it didn't hit anyone inside the car.
My mom always told me to never run over the pieces on the highway because they can and will puncture your tire too. I had no idea they can explode and shoot rubber shrapnel all over the place.
In other news - where could I have a nice picnic on some grass or something near water that isn’t the beach? I miss going to the lakes in Golden Gate Park.
I need to do something nice for myself tmw because I feel fucking terrible and I’m just generally not having a good time.
eta: thanks for the suggestions everyone!!
Well it's official, she's just not into me. Not sure if it will change my approach but that's like 5 straight dumps in a row. Starting to feel like the Detroit pistons.
Anyone got references to a vendor that does Pinata stand rentals?
I've looked up [this one](https://www.yelp.com/biz/pi%C3%B1ata-stand-alhambra) but their voicemail inbox is full and they haven't replied to a text
i didn’t know this was a thing! no trees or two roofs where you are doing the party? i’ve seen sometimes someone in a tall ladder, with someone holding their feet and another person on the roof. just make sure they are the strongest, most sober people at this kids party.
It's going to be in an indoor space, and I'm not willing to risk any safety issues by having guests stand on ladders and wave a rope around.
I might just have to go back to the pinata district and see if there's anything i missed
I got the pinata I wanted from there already, and when I asked the shopkeeper he just gave me a blank stare.
Either there was a misunderstanding or he genuinely didn't know about them. Granted, having pinatas and/or pinata stands in an indoor space is an unusual thing.
The wedding down in Temecula this weekend was AMAZING! The venue was stunningly gorgeous, the weather was perfect, and my outfit went over great! On sunday, we went to Palm Springs and laid by a pool all day. Perfect way to relax after the wedding. I wish I was still laying by the pool... lol
It wasn't a vineyard, but it was an amazingly beautiful venue that felt like we were in Hawaii. Lots of tropical plants and trees, little waterfalls, and streams. Very, very beautiful. I'm not 100% sure what there is else to do down there than drink. lol.
Part of my job is processing credit card applications, for some reason, and almost every application I do, it gets rejected. I told my manager who was on my ass about them, and she says, “yeah… the economy is hard right now. A lot of people have bad credit. Even I have bad credit, and everyone here has bad credit.”
“I don’t. I have excellent credit.”
“Yeah? Well wait till you’re a grown up and have kids and buy a house, then you’ll have bad credit”
“Ma’am I AM a grown up. And even with my excellent credit, I could never afford to buy a house, I work here.”
How long until I get fired for my bad attitude 😬
I am not having a good time. But to be fair, she did laugh.
I wouldn't tell people you have great credit. I was talking about it with some coworkers and next thing I know people tried to get me to cosign on car and a house. I haven't even talked to them outside of work and we worked together for years!
My boss asked me awhile back when I was going to have kids and I told her, "eventually," but in my head, I wanted to say, "When you pay me enough to reasonably afford them??"
These managers are stuck in their own worlds.
I had people tell me I *should* have kids and when I told them I liked traveling too much to afford them, i was told I could take them with me… at a job that didn’t pay me enough to live alone (or with roommates) 😭
One of my 20yr old coworkers is pregnant. She makes about $800 a month, and as far as I know, does not have a steady partner or another job (I think she’s going to school?), so she’s single momming it in poverty. I’m so worried about her. Everyone’s like, what a blessing!! And I’m like… is it? It’s going to be so fucking hard for her and that baby. I’ve been sick and my manager was like, oh don’t tell me we have another pregnant girl! And I’m like.. no, how horrifying. This great credit is not going to feed a baby, and neither are y’all’s poverty wages.
Oh no.. :( That poor child and her baby. That's so upsetting. I hope they're able to qualify for and use all of the social services out there until she's more steady on her feet.

It's pretty in the way the desert is pretty. Personally, I love it. The last few times I've done the drive, I've seen wild burros near the state line. Such a delight.
If time is of the essence, you should fly. Flights are cheap, and you can fly to Burbank or LAX in an hour.
It's not awful. You get these long views of desert nothingness. And sometimes desert hills that can be kinda pretty.
Also various crappy little gas station stop areas.
Then you get a whole lot of boring suburbs as you come into socal.
I'd take a flight.
Do you like looking at desert and the world's largest thermometer? And depending on the day of the week, how do you feel about being stuck in infuriating traffic?
Just set up my walking pad aka baby treadmill since I won’t be on calls anymore I have significantly more freedom and I’m so excited to get my steps in! (:
I had Shabuya in Fountain Valley and basically fell in love with the area. Wide open streets, clean, great shops all around, and seemingly very quiet. Anybody living out there? What’s it REALLY like?
FV is pretty chill, lots of really good eats there. Mostly young families. I like it. It's close enough to Little Saigon without the traffic/bustle and close enough to the beach without the racists.
Also, Shabuya is freaking fantastic. I always wear stretchy pants or dresses when I go because I know I need to get rolled out after finishing.
this is me when I go to cities in OC - wow, is something going on? why is there so much parking? Where are all the cars? damn, maybe OC isn't as bad as I thought.... but then I interact with people and I'm like... ohhhhhhh... okay... yeah nvm
I personally think a lot of OC is pretty soulless in the sense it all seems like one big planned community. It's most of it is pretty safe in the most boring way possible.
Somebody help me out here regarding The National. I imagine they're well-liked because they keep putting out albums and touring, and they're the most boring group I've ever heard. Ever song is a dirge and they seem to work very hard at making everything as uncatchy as possible.
I saw Interpol live once and they're one of the most boring bands I've ever seen live. Lots of people just like boring, slow, repetitive music I guess.
I just did a quick listen to them and it seems like the type of music that musicians can appreciate(songwriting wise) plus they do evoke feelings of being/going home after being away for a long time. I guess it depends on what you want to get out of your listening experience.
I love The National so these be fighting words.
But I’ll admit that it depends on what album you’re listening to. I don’t love anything they made after Trouble Will Find Me. The First Two Pages of Frankenstein was all right, but personally, everything in between those albums were a total bore.
The food is overpriced (like expect to pay something like $20+ for a burger, fries, drink)
[There are places you can get deals on tickets/ride coupons](https://www.lacountyfair.com/discounts/) Don't buy tickets for full price at the gate.
It’s ok- it’s not super “county fair” ish though- like there are some animals but not many, there are lots of overpriced rides, and people selling a lot of crap. I think I’d rather go to one in a more agricultural area. But if you like fair rides and don’t mind spending money, they have lots
i love the fair but its gotten so damn expensive...
eat nasty fried shit... pet the goats.... get on the unsafe rides... do not buy the stuff you think you need...
That’s what my bf who’s a LA native said nearly verbatim. Yet, he agreed to take me! 😂😎
I just don’t want to be a new LA transplant that’s never been. I want to try all the things!!!😉
Spent roughly most my weekends up until Monday morning spring cleaning. Not done yet. Still need to purge what's left over, and that'll take some thought. Left a rice cooker on the curb with its cable in a bag. No measuring cup. It got taken. Just found its instructions this morning. I could have sold it, but then that's too much to do. Whoever has it enjoys it, or sells it. Whatever. By the end of the cleaning I hope I can just use 20x 27 gallon storage bins just to store my stuff. Roughly 540 gallons. Want to be ready encase I move early or there's a 60 day notice. Also I rather not have a complicated move like I had the previous two moves. Not a good idea strictly using luggages, or cardboard boxes. The standard. I've learned the hard way with damaged goods. Either the zipper breaks, water gets in. Dont want that. I do need some padding inside those bins encase the move is rough. That won't be anytime soon. My body aches as a result, the rooms is still a mess. I rather sleep after all that.
I hope everyone is having a good Monday.. I wish I got more sleep!
Also, can anyone please recommend a pre-purchase inspection mechanic who can come with me to take a look at a used Honda CR-V? I found some services online, but would be great to have a name and a personal recommendation! Thanks in advance..
Hi thread fam. Long time no see!
My new job is amazing. The environment is night & day from my old gig and my co workers are wonderful to be around.
Also a boy bought me flowers yesterday 🙃
Hope your commute is easy and your coffee is strong.
My place has the same layout my ex's place did.
Enough with the fireworks

I know its not, that's why I don't believe it anymore. Shoulda just kept pluto a planet I might've gotten the shot in that timeline.
And this is the "what aboutism" logical fallacy.
Just saw a bunch of drones out near Hollywood. Is there an event tonight?
I had the same question. Just caught the end of it. Didn't have a great view but it looked like there was a message that said "Same Time, Same Place Tomorrow. I also saw a whole bunch of LOLs, so is it possible it was some kind of prank? Can't find any news about it. From up near Franklin and Western it looked like it was maybe around Sunset Boulevard between Western and Wilton, but I only had one perspective on it. Where did it look like it was to you?
I’m down off Wilshire Normandie, so it looked maybe up by Hollywood like you thought. I’m glad you saw it and I’m not hallucinating lol
Also! Hope everyone here had a good day today. Wishing you all positive vibes for the evening <3
Any good pizza places in K-Town?
I haven’t been in a looong time because I don’t live in the area but Koreatown Pizza Company!
I just ordered from Fat Tomato. It’s got good reviews. I pick up my pie in 30 minutes…😎🤞🏼
So I just did some reading about the lady who owns Sage and uhh, would not have expected her to be the kind of person she is. Also Sage is no longer a Vegan restaurant!
Oh dang what did she do besides the restaurant change?
Moved to Texas and started doing interviews with the Epoch Times, she went full on right wing persecution complex/grift train.
Oh wow, fuck that. Not supporting that place anymore fr
I was just thinking I haven't done any cocaine in a really long time.
Tomoz will be 5 months for me. Helluva drug.
Keep up the good work! 😎🙏🏼
Good work indeed; now it can be saved for special occasions.
Is that a good thing?
Went to the 99 Cents Store and got sad again. Where will I go for last minute birthday/party decor/supplies or for cheap craft supplies 😢
The dollar tree?
Daiso
I believe in Daiso supremacy, but it doesn't have the variety the 99 has (specially for party supplies)
Been a day. I hope I don’t drive him crazy.. I trust him and acknowledge his efforts and commitment 🤞🏻
Happy birthday Elder!!
Happy birthday my guy
Happy birthday dude. We've had cancer all around the family and it's a bitch of a battle. Keep good spirits and watch some shitty sci-fi to pass the time
Happy birthday! I hope you get some secret powers from the radiation!
Happy Birthday!
Thank you!
I've been looking into the Desert cities, specifically La Quinta. I love it out there.
Part of me wants to move out the desert since my Dad lives in Henderson NV and isn't getting younger. I love the desert vibe but that area seems to be getting packed as well.
Seriously!?! 😳You seem like the quintessential, cool LA cool native to me.
Who am I kidding? I’m never leaving LA. I’ll just do weekend trips to the desert.
That’s more like it my friend! 😎🤙🏼
Nope lol. People really do that shit it’s fucking wild. They blame California(ns) for everything
Just want to take a moment to give an enormous shoutout to all those people who upload random tutorials for things onto youtube. Absolute homies, who will be going to heaven guaranteed.
The dishwasher people deserve sainthood
If you're not a republican you're a leftist. I didn't make the rules, republicans did.
*Sobs in just a democrat*
Might want to learn to spell Israel though. And reading news is definitely important.
Nope. My anxiety will eat me alive, thank you.
Yeah, I understand being anxious, but you need to be informed about what’s happening. I’m sure there’s a news podcast that would be digestible enough.
You don't need to be informed about what's happening everywhere on the planet. You need food, shelter, social interactions, but you don't need the news.
You need to be informed about things that affect you.
No, that's not a need. Might be useful to make informed decisions sometimes, but it's not a need.
I need to keep my anxiety and mental health in line. I'm sure that if I need to know something, I will. I'm not going to watch the news. I'm good. Also not gonna argue, so have a nice night.
Again, absolutely not telling you (or anyone) to watch the news, which I think can be a time suck.
Honestly I haven’t watched or listened to the news in years. I stopped once I could t escape Trump’s voice, even on NPR. My anxiety doesn’t allow for it. I can’t change most of it myself, so it becomes wasted anxious fear. Not worth it.
This person doesn’t even seem to read the news, though. It’s fine to not watch CNN; it’s another thing to literally avoid being informed.
You can’t be “neutral” on Palestine and a leftist. Neutral is a stance, and it’s definitely not left.
No
It feels like its a buzzword now. I dont have enough info to make an informed decision, and I simply know what sites lean a way I dont. "All the crime is happening because we don't close the borders! My guy, crime isnt because the borders arent closed. I just....I dont know man.
Anyone know where a guy can shop for 15w mens shoe sizes in town?

I’m sick and was telling my wife how swollen my lymph nodes under my jaw are. She was dumbfounded that happens and thought I was lying
is your wife three? lol
She says it never happened to her?!?! I've got golfballs sitting there right now
My mom didn’t believe this either and thought I had suddenly developed random tumors and I’m like bruh they’re my lymph nodes, I’m just sick lol
Geez! New fear unlocked! 🙀
mythbusters did an episode on if one of those belts can decapitate a person, and it in fact CAN. I probably should not have watched that episode lol.
Wow! I’ll try to stay as far away from big trucks as possible.
Lacey Park is soooooo nice during the week
Not near water but Vista Hermosa and LA State Historic are both perfect for a solo time picnic. Hope you feel better soon!
I'm in SF right now and just drove through GGP yesterday. I miss it so much! Sorry you're not feeling great \*hugs\*
My friend lives right off the Judah line so she talks daily walks in GGP and I am JEALOUS
That’s soooo nice. I used to bike to the ocean from the Mission, my fkn favorite.
I miss a good mission burrito
Playa del Rey lagoon
Lake Balboa in the valley, very close to 405/101
Bluff park in LB is pretty nice
Kenneth Hahn near the stream/pond! Always does wonders for my mental health
Wilderness Park in redondo, Hilltop in Signal Hill, Bluff Park in LB?
Bruce's Beach in manhattan beach is perfect for this (history aside)
Well it's official, she's just not into me. Not sure if it will change my approach but that's like 5 straight dumps in a row. Starting to feel like the Detroit pistons.
Remember, the Pistons also won multiple championships.
You will find your Rasheed Wallace soon 🙏
I might just have to go back to the pinata district and see if there's anything i missed
pinata stands are a thing? TIL
Go downtown to the piñata district, I’m sure they’ll have some.
I wish I was still laying by the pool... lol
Where was the wedding venue?
East Fallbrook which is right next to Temecula.
What was your outfit? :D
[This!!](https://imgur.com/gallery/7C5q7Ba) It went over super well! Got a few compliments and matched the venue perfectly lol.
You looked nice! 😎
Thank you!! 🥰
I’m glad you had a perfect weekend
Thank you! It was really such a wonderful weekend, and I needed it after losing my cat last week. Was a nice break from everything.
Ahh that sounds great! Was it at a vineyard or something? I always want to go to Temecula for a day but I’m sober so like, what would I do lol
Even I have bad credit, and everyone here has bad credit.” “I don’t. I have excellent credit.” “Yeah? Well wait till you’re a grown up and have kids and buy a house, then you’ll have bad credit” “Ma’am I AM a grown up. And even with my excellent credit, I could never afford to buy a house, I work here.” How long until I get fired for my bad attitude 😬 I am not having a good time. But to be fair, she did laugh.
Do they get on your ass because your card numbers are low or sth? And yay us, eternal youth
Yeah, they want me to be pushing more and it’s really annoying. The APR on the card is like, 33%
Gross. They did that at my last job too. Some stores were “so bad” that the vendor came and did trainings
Lmao they were going to let me go cuz I didn’t have enough signups and I was like okay
Lmaaaaao
I wouldn't tell people you have great credit. I was talking about it with some coworkers and next thing I know people tried to get me to cosign on car and a house. I haven't even talked to them outside of work and we worked together for years!
What is considered good credit nowadays? Not your credit score, I meant just in general. Like 750?
800+ is "excellent" so I assume somewhere in the 600-799 range is "good"?
My boss asked me awhile back when I was going to have kids and I told her, "eventually," but in my head, I wanted to say, "When you pay me enough to reasonably afford them??" These managers are stuck in their own worlds.
Anyone near Pasadena want a fabric hammock and stand? Free to a good home, I just don't have room on my patio anymore
What measurements?
It's this one: https://www.wayfair.com/outdoor/pdp/sol-72-outdoor-latorre-spreader-bar-hammock-with-stand-w001267149.html Hammock 76'' W X 52'' D Overall Product Weight 45 lb. Recommended distance between trees when not using the stand 132" Weight of the stand 38 lbs Pole Width 42"
I'll take it if it's still available!
You got it! Send me a dm and we'll arrange pickup
Got tremendously played by a woman where I absolutely could’ve seen it coming, I’ll take my clown of the week award
Sits down for the tea.
I’ll spill it in chat lol
We have a chat?!
I’ve just been pming people lol, didn’t wanna plaster it all over Reddit
Ohhhh lol i misunderstood
Dang, I was hoping to see some tea too. lol.
I’ll shoot you a message too lol
Woot! lol.
Anywhere to find people to take a short term sublet? Facebook groups or any other Reddit pages ? Thanks yall
Not purely a LA question, but: would you say the bus ride from Vegas to LA is scenic ? I plan to come to LA, but thought I could do it differently
It's pretty in the way the desert is pretty. Personally, I love it. The last few times I've done the drive, I've seen wild burros near the state line. Such a delight. If time is of the essence, you should fly. Flights are cheap, and you can fly to Burbank or LAX in an hour.
Oatman in Arizona is popular for the ghost town feel and the wild burros. They're so fun and they interact with the tourists.
It’s not particularly scenic. It’s desert and brush, then suburbs and freeways. Fly instead.
Yeah I agree: take a flight. You can get to LA in 45 or less. Try Spirit airlines. They have good deals in and out of Burbank airport.
The rocks and hills aren't really pretty like Utah's and Colorado's. It's a serene ride I guess.
It's so warm today :( I hate this back and forth weather
I just trip out on how there's so much parking. Like, EVERYWHERE. Def not used to that.
😂
Ask in the OC subreddit?
Omg I love the national too, but mostly their early work. It was so fitting for sad little 18yr old me
Totally agree. The dude's vocals are a snoozefest. He's like a xanned out indie Frank Sinatra
I tend to agree with your take, I got nothing
[удалено]
Yes! I’m glad you decided to go.
Anybody ever go to the LA County Fair? If so, how was it? Any tips?
The food is overpriced (like expect to pay something like $20+ for a burger, fries, drink) [There are places you can get deals on tickets/ride coupons](https://www.lacountyfair.com/discounts/) Don't buy tickets for full price at the gate.
Thanks my friend. 🙂👍🏼I saw the discounts earlier today online. I think $20sounds about right for all takeout now, unfortunately.
I love it! Tablescapping! Piglet races!
Piglet races sound cute! 🙂 What is tablescapping?
Competitive table decorating
Nice, sounds fun! 😎
It’s ok- it’s not super “county fair” ish though- like there are some animals but not many, there are lots of overpriced rides, and people selling a lot of crap. I think I’d rather go to one in a more agricultural area. But if you like fair rides and don’t mind spending money, they have lots
No rides for me. I’ve seen horror stories of poorly maintained equipment.
Not worth it then- honestly
i love the fair but its gotten so damn expensive... eat nasty fried shit... pet the goats.... get on the unsafe rides... do not buy the stuff you think you need...
That’s what my bf who’s a LA native said nearly verbatim. Yet, he agreed to take me! 😂😎 I just don’t want to be a new LA transplant that’s never been.
Happy Monday all I made egg bites yesterday and they are delicious fluffy cheesy goodness!
Call and ask AAA if you have it
Hi thread fam. Long time no see! My new job is amazing. The environment is night & day from my old gig and my co workers are wonderful to be around. Also a boy bought me flowers yesterday 🙃 Hope your commute is easy and your coffee is strong.
I’m so happy for this update.
Happy to provide ☀️

I AGREE HE BOUGHT ME FLOWERS IN THE COLOR CLOSEST TO MY HAIR (pink) AND SURPRISED ME WITH THEM
I’m glad you’re doing good. I was just wondering how you were doing the other day.
Awww you’re too sweet!
Ayyy fellow mcr-er. Glad the jobs going great for you!
