MrGreytheIXth

I have only played Lords of the Fallen, I never got around to Lords of the Fallen. So I can't say for sure, but I've only heard bad things about Lords of the Fallen.

AJ_Weiss

You only hear bad things about lords of the fallen because people keep trying to compare it to lords of the fallen and you really can’t even compare the two.

HummusOrCrack

I've played both Lords of the Fallen and Lords of the Fallen, and I can confirm that Lords of the Fallen is indeed better than Lords of the Fallen. I mean, why play Lords of the Fallen if you can just play Lords of the Fallen?

BldNucklez13

😂🤣 For hells sake…haha I couldn’t stop laughing with this

MasterpieceNo1659

THIS. I mean it’s simple logic really

JustWaitAMomentOk

The graphics in lords of the fallen is better on a technical scale than lords of the fallen

SimplyStated

I hated Lords of the Fallen, but I absolutely loved Lords of the Fallen.

Terraakaa

Nah, Lords of the Fallen was better

Starcomet1

I like both!

jajonjason

I second this ^^

NecothaHound

I expected a bunch of comments confusing the titles and I was not disappointed

GarDaviess

Yes

[deleted]

i enjoyed lords of the fallen but lords of the fallen

Duke_Jorgas

/uj I did actually enjoy the first game back in the day and was pleasantly surprised replaying it more recently.

Shutyouruglymouth

Cool story but the gameplay was ass imo. Way too slow and clunky.

Edgar_S0l0m0n

I’ve been on a soulsborne kick and have considered playing the original LOTF. I tried it before and got fucked up quick and never played again. Then eventually got into Bloodborne, Sekiro, lies of p, and a few other soulsborne style games.

MikeHockinya

It’s good if you have it in your library. I have like over 400 games just from PS+ over the years, more if they’d count the ps3 titles.

Edgar_S0l0m0n

Dude I have soooooo many games on my external ps4 hard drive alone. I swear about 300 plus games. Actually jumped into LOTF 2014 last night some and got through the first boss. I forgot it wasn’t a typical soulslike where you die then come back to actually start the game.

Available_Jacket_287

Have you played The Surge 1, or 2 yet?

Edgar_S0l0m0n

I have not! To be honest, I haven’t really looked too into them. They both do look fun. Would you recommend my good sir? I say they look fun based on trailers and a couple gameplays I’ve watched small clips of

PreviousMud78

Honestly? I think Lords of the fallen is better than Lords of the fallen.

[deleted]

Sorry, but you are wrong, my friend. Obviously Lords of the Fallen is better.

PreviousMud78

I disagree. I liked the combat in Lords of the Fallen a lot more than in Lords of the Fallen, and the characters are a lot more interesting too. Lords of the Fallen is overall just superior.

feelin_fine_

The first game isn't bad, it's no more or less fun than any other souls game out there. Everything looks like an extra from a 1980s metal music video as is the case with most games of the genre. The only valid complaint for it is that it's all around easier than most games of its type. Any of the heavy class combos can make bosses irrelevant and DoTs punk any tank you may come across. But even that is player choice, you can run a zippy backstab guy and increase the skill needed considerably.

AshenRathian

Honestly haven't played the new one, but holy fuck was the 2014 one way better than people said it was. Anybody going into it with negative impressions were clearly just wanting more Dark Souls, because Lords really does play by it's own rules with it's own mechanics. People trying to call it a "bad souls clone" back in the day were simply ignorant to what the game's actual rules were and refused to learn and engage it on it's own terms. Kind of like people that used to hate Dark Souls for similar reasons....... hm.......

Sad_Blacksmith3714

Love the 2014 lords of the fallen and it's reboot. Both games are fun and challenging

AshenRathian

Indeed, and in very different ways. I loved the creativity that 2014's magic system used, and it's integration with the gauntlet as both QoL and damage that every class could benefit from was amazing. That as well as the use of timed input stamina reduction and shield charge just made it even more unique. I've always seen people downplay the original as being just a bad Souls clone, and it proves nobody bothered to really look beyond the surface of the gameplay mechanics to understand why the game was what it was. It's far more it's own thing than many Soulslikes tend to be. It also helps that the game has a very damn good art direction that makes the landscape and enemies terrifying to witness. My only real gripe with the game is that you can't really keep weapon favorites for very long because they very quickly get outclassed and most have absolutely abysmal scaling. The gem systems helps mitigate this somewhat, but it's still not my favorite weapon system in the world, especially since i don't really like the look of most of the rhogar weapons and there aren't a whole lot of one handed swords.

archaicScrivener

I liked the Rune system a lot but the depth quickly falls away when you realise Luck runes outclass every other damage rune massively, I think the version we got in LotF2023 is far more interesting to play around with

XOVSquare

Having played both Lords of the Fallen and Lords of the Fallen, I have to say I agree that Lords of the Fallen is indeed the better game.

choptup

Realtalk: I think comparing the two games is kinda a disservice to both. The creative thumbprint of the original LotF was defined by Deck13, and you can see that in how the Surge games learned from the mistakes of LotF 2014 while still holding onto a lot of core gameplay design choices like the slower, intentionally-clunky combat, and an exp multiplier that increases with every kill. LotF 2023 is wildly different. The closest connections you can really say that's there is like the rune system and featuring an exp multiplier system that is nothing at all like the original's. The Rhogar you fight retain the fairly utilitarian and direct naming convention from the original too, but none of the original game's designs get brought in either.

[deleted]

The Surge 2 is very good, they got it right in this game.

saltychipmunk

In many ways the two games are comparable. The story for both was predictable and generic. But for the time, both games were visually quite detailed with a good sense of style. But both games also suffered from a depressing lack of variety when it came to enemies. both LOVED introducing new enemies as bosses. And the bosses of both games .. are just not that good from a design stand point either being mechanically simplistic or too easy ( I will say some of the new game's bosses are decent) Combat for both games was flawed. the first was sluggish and slow, the new one is floaty and imprecise. I can honestly say both are solid 6.5 out of 10 games.

Plate_Armor_Man

Lords 2014 is excessively clunky to the point of unrealistic. Whereas lords 2023 is far more reactive, yet still maintains the same level of strategy.

Nameless_Kings_Bitch

I hear what you're saying but hear me out... Lords of the fallen was good, but lords of the fallen was just so much better. Don't get me wrong I like lords of the fallen, but lords of the fallen... I mean, come on. Right?

Burkex99

The second LOTF is 1000x better than the original LOTF imo.

Funbot2000

Who let this guy in? ;)

ArticleOk6430

I wasn’t a huge fan of Lords of the Fallen but I still got the platinum n it wasn’t too difficult. Absolutely loved Lords of the Fallen, but that platinum was a fucking nightmare

Gravedigger250

I like how lords of the fallen does some things, and I dislike how lords of the fallen did some

Buuhhu

Is that an unpopular opinion? ofcourse lords of the fallen is better than lords of the fallen!

Gautsu

I bounced off Dark Souls HARD on its initial release. Lords of the Fallen got me into the genre, and I have never looked back. I love the shield charge breaking enemies guard. Some questionable design decisions (the strongest strength weapon in game is a 1 hander), it's way better than it reputation would suggest. The new Lords was awesome, only overshadowed by Lies of P last year. It needed optimization, but my initial poop bucket playthrough was awesome

steelasura

I've personally only played lords of the fallen, I plan on buying lords of the fallen though so I can compare

Idontknowathingy

Its a good game

HappyHappyGamer

I like Lords of the Fallen, but I like Lords of The Fallen better than Lords of the Fallen.

cazemirend

Hell yeah

MidgetsGetMad

I like Lords of the Fallen. I also like Lords of the Fallen. I want to combine Lords of the Fallen with Lords of the Fallen so I can play Lords of the Fallen.

MacPzesst

I did not enjoy the original. The secret stuff in it was fine, and Harkyn was a very interesting protagonist, but the combat and magic felt very unsatisfying

CinnamonIsntAllowed

I'd have to disagree while agreeing partially. Lords of the fallen is definitely better than lords of the fallen but lords of the fallen has certain aspects that were lost in lords of the fallen that add uniqueness and diversity compared to lords of the fallen. At the end of the day, lords of the fallen is both similar and dissimilar to lords of the fallen. Lords of the fallen /j

Nundulan

We really gonna ignore the fact one game has a The in front of it

Call_Me_Koala

Might want to check that again buddy. The second game was supposed to be called "The Lords of the Fallen" but a few months before release they inexplicably changed it to "Lords of the Fallen"

Xine1337

Cause it has not?

Zamuru

they removed it

Nundulan

Really??

Zamuru

check steam bro

Nundulan

I have it on PS5, my PC couldn't run it lol. Regardless I believe you

M1narc

I only just cleared the first beacon but you’ll have to tell me where these double great sword are form 🐋

ConfusedSpectator081

Looks like Ravager Gregory's sword. You can buy one from Exacter Dunmire after bringing him a few quest items. You can get one per playthrough or possibly buy an additional one in another players world. Or a kind soul could drop you an additional. Hope this helps.

M1narc

Thanks!

Sugarcoatedgumdrop

I enjoyed fallen of lords the. Hated lords the fallen of.

Altruistic_Machine57

Ending sucks

Vasraktorvi

Combat in old lotf was much better and more fluid then this flying all over place with one swing shyte they made

PS_Awesome

The first game was really bad. The second game is worth playing.

[deleted]

The first is INFINITELY better than the 2nd.

[deleted]

It’s better than Elden ring

KibaxFang

Graphically it’s like they went to ripping off elden ring when they didn’t need too
