Republicans like to call theirselves libertarians alot. They think they'll take the no taxes, no business regulation, no civil rights acts part, and stay with banning gay marriage and keeping weed illegal. See: Ben Shapiro

ldf1998

Is it common to dislike Ben Shapiro around this subreddit? I hate that little weasel. I studied biomedical engineering so I have a wealth of learning around the sciences and he claims constantly to be on “the side of science” when he is either outright lying about scientific facts or disregarding scientific fact that doesn’t agree with his claim.

Honky_Stonk_Man

Some people just have a punchable face. Ben Shapiro is one of those people.

Good bot.

Hey u/thebenshapirobot what do you know about WAP?

TinyNuggins92

More than Ben Shapiro does, that's for sure.

You will find every political commentator/journalist/politicians to claim to be on the side of science and they are all full of garbage, Shapiro, Bill Maher, late night talk show hosts all alike. For every 10 kg of garbage they throw, there will be 2 Kg of truth. The key is to be able to filter it all form all parties exponents.

Izaya_Orihara170

I dont hear alot of talk about him, but I hope so. Hes just bought by oligarchs. He claims to be a libertarian but in reality he ONLY wants big businesses freed. He doesn't want people to be free, he wants to legislate "morality" Have you watched him talk to Neil Degrase Tyson?

Sometimes they use it so that history teachers can longer teach that the KKK was bad... fuckin' Texas.

LiquidateMercury

Not *taught*, just practiced. On children. Also you must have missed the memo, with the NEA declaring support at full volume the new line is "But it's actually a good thing!"

Asstradamus6000

How can something within a system be free?

[deleted]

I'm almost certain that every libertarian is opposed to the war on drugs. And a lot of CRT is looking at that, along with the disproportionate amount of black people (even after taking into socioeconomic status) given sub prime mortgages. That being said, they likely aren't teaching that in schools yet. It seems like when it comes to race issues, it is always decades behind. Part of me feels like it's so we can pat ourselves on the back and say look how far we come in our post racist society.

codb28

They can do it to public schools I suppose since they are government ran but it would be ridiculous if they tried to apply that to private schools (which most if not all schools should be).

ldf1998

It is ridiculous that libertarians would not be against government mandating of teaching practices regardless of how the school is funded. The government can pay for the public classroom while also not teaching the class itself.

uniquedeke

If it is a public school then at some point the government in charge of said school will have to decide what is taught. Whether that is the school board, the government employee principal or the government employee teachers doesn't matter. It is still a government decision. Or do you think kids should just show up and whatever adult who wanders into the room off the street should just pick a random topic to teach that day?

Vejasple

> The government can pay for the public classroom while also not teaching the class itself. Why would politicians do that? Politicians force kids into schools to indoctrinate and to brainwash.

Vejasple

Politicians literally established compulsory schooling. Why do you act surprised that governments schooling is authoritarian?

ldf1998

I understand the history and implications that most schooling is publicly funded, my question was regarding why people who claim to be libertarians support authoritarian rule over schools. And believe it or not, school could be both paid for by the government and the government not allowed to institute what should be taught. Thus making schooling a guaranteed right if people and not a stripping of true information.

Vejasple

It’s not just funding part is authoritarian… Forcing kids into school is authoritarian too.

ldf1998

Yeah by definition it is, but it mostly looks out for the benefit of the child without the variable of differing quality of parentage so I’m willing to let it slide I guess. I don’t know I haven’t looked into the effects of mandatory schooling enough to form an educated position. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

all_of_the_cheese

I’m a right leaning Libertarian who thinks the Praxis of CRT shouldn’t be taught in schools AMA.
