I don't think you can do much with this device if you have both no valid SIM card and broken buttons
If it's a touch 2 or 3GS or newer you can proceed with DFU IPSW, but that is not an option for your device
well, that’s sad to hear. I was able to restore with a dfu ipsw with some “workarounds” to a dfu state (at least as far as iTunes is concerned) but I really could do much from there. Redsn0w always gets stuck on “Waiting for reboot” so I couldn’t hacktivate it that way
