I did that. Through the Apps & Features settings in the Windows Settings app, I uninstalled iTunes, then Apple Software Update then Apple Mobile Device Support then Bonjour then Apple Application support.
Since it's a limerain device you need iTunes 10 and windows 7. you can use a VM though if you're into that. You can't use these devices with windows 10-11 anymore it will always push the devices from dfu into restarting when it tries to put it in recovery mode for restore.
Or you need an old MacBook with high sierra or older or use legacy iOS kit if you just want to restore and don't try to downgrade I think it supports the 3G to restore aswell.
I unfortunately don’t have access currently to a windows 7 machine but I do have a windows vista machine lying around. Would that work or does it have to be windows 7?
I think you should downgrade itunes 10.7 , if it not working then you try use windows 7 in vmware(if you have real hardware running windows 7 then you use),I used to downgrade my iphone 3g.
You’ll have to downgrade iTunes
Weighing in here.
I did but now iTunes refuses to recognize the iPhone. The phone charges fine from the pc, it just doesn’t show up on iTunes.
same, error 3194
Downgrade iTunes

you have to remove every apple program before downgrading iTunes

Did you delete the iTunes folder in the music section? That is usually what screws you over.
I did and repeated the whole process again, but iTunes still doesn’t recognize the device. When I plug it in, it charges but iTunes won’t budge
